Olympic Opening Ceremonies - A journey through time 

The greatest thing about the Olympics is not the tradition. It is that we could put aside our differences and come together to be a part of the greatest games on earth: the Olympic games. Had the Greeks had seen what would have came of their tradition, I know that they would be truly proud. Though we do not share the meaning of what the Olympics were, we have recreated a new meaning: treating other nations like that of a family. I am happy to be a part of this family. Though I am not in the games, my heart is. To anyone from other countries, good luck. Speaking as part of the United States, I wish your country the best in the games.

am i the only one who drop a tears watching this ? its amazing, to see so many people from around the world gather and be together, present and watching, ease the differences and supportive, to one another, the place where just to take part.

Athens🇬🇷 (Greece) had the best ceremony. Except the traditional style of the ceremony and the amazing explanation of Greek culture from ancient times to nowadays, the fact that Olympic games returned to their home made more touching, unique and special this ceremony.

Athens 2004 opening ceremony is the only one that made me cry TBH. The most profound and sophisticated. Olympics should return every couple of decades back to their motherland Greece me thinks.

Beijing Olympics is something we will never see again. Absolutely mind blowing !!!

Best opening still is Athens 2004, they created sea and flew a lot of things during the ceremony 🎑 Best torch lighting is Barcelona 1992 🏹 epic lighting with a bow & arrow Best closing is London 2012- they truly showcased their artists.

I can't help but notice the amazing soundtrack in this video. Starts off ambient and maintains the ambiance while gaining energy.

Beijing for me still is the best. Credit where credit is due. I watched it full, and it was magnificent. I may be biased because it was the only one I watch in full but it was undeniably beautiful to watch. Amazing artistry anf teamwork.

The ceremony in Rio 2016 for me was the most contagious of history! A totally different , cheerful, innovative, joyful and welcoming ceremony! The Brazil really is an expert in the party. The diversity ethnic, cultural and musical of Brazil is amazing! Congratulations Rio , it was perfect!!!

I can watch Beijing 2008 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies again and again and again and still in tears of joy and inspiration. It is the BEST of the BEST Olympic ceremonies ever. China has set the bar so high that it is extremely challenging for other countries to top Beijing 2008. This makes it very exciting to anticipate all future Olympic ceremonies.

Why there is no Moscow? It was great opening ceremony!

These opening ceremonies always bring tears to my eyes. It's amazing how beautiful humanity can be if we set aside our differences and work towards a common goal and theme of peace and unity.

I always have to cry when I watch opening ceremonies,its overwelming to see what a glory humanity is.

The arrow lighting the torch on Barcelona 92 may be the most epic and unforgettable moment in the history of opening ceremonies.

The Olympic goal is to be united a peaceful world.

Man, that one in Los Angeles gave me chills, the one with the people holding something like cardboard making the flags of the world...

Even though Moscow was boycotted and there were unpleasant memories at Munich, I feel that those moments of history shouldn't be left out.

I comment rarely. I am a 1979 born GenX. I have seen every olympic opening ceremony since 1984 (I am a Cancerian so yes even my remotest memory is vivid). After seeing the worst opening ceremony at Paris in 2024 I can quite safely say that THE BEST OPENING CEREMONY WAS HELD IN 1988 AT THE SEOUL OLYMPIC GAMES. By the way I am not a Korean. Love from India.
