A 4:03 mile blows my mind. But putting more than THREE of them together BACK to BACK to BACK?! How did he do it?! In this video I give you my reaction along with some behind-the-scenes info I picked up racing in Monaco for the better part of a decade.

Gambling can incite athletes to cheat, that is why it is banned throughout most sports. Even if gambling takes place in the middle of a race while the athletes are performing, the athletes could finish in certain places purposefully in order to win someone else some money, and then of course the athletes can be tipped off by the gamblers for helping them win their bets. Gambling could ruin the sport.
@Boom85Boom

Horse racing wouldn’t exist without gambling because it’s a shit sport. Athletics absolutely does not need gambling at the track. You can bet on races like you can other sports but I would hate to see spectators waving their betting slips like they do at a horse race. Awesome video by the way. Thanks

@mikediazArtist
@mikediazArtist 4 года назад
Looks like Nike ZoomX Dragonfly - Also even though there were very little fans and the energy of Monaco wasn't there, it makes this record just that much more incredible/difficult to take on. Chep did this with no fans, alone after 6 laps, during the worst pandemic in a century and his travel time to Monaco from Uganda took 80hours which is exhausting for anyone... --> the only thing i would've wanted a little more of was to see this race run with more world-leading 5k runners. I feel that this record could've been even more incredible if there was more competition. However, I think the other world-leading 5k runners knew they weren't ready to stick with Chep because he announced a 5k record attempt prior to racing and I'm sure the competition was like we arnt ready.. I think the closts anyones gotten was Barega's 12:43 and Kejelcha's 12:47 in 2018.. Thanks for your thoughts Nick

@@waterproof4403 why can’t you accept his greatness, wavelights are not much different to people pacing and honestly people pacing is better than wavelights because you get the pace and reduced air resistance

Hi Nick , I’m 15 at the moment and have just started taking training more seriously in the last 4 months. I do around 50k a week. Last year my 800 time was 2.12. But hopefully it’s a lot better now I just haven’t been able to get to a track. How much training where you doing at my age? And is there anything else I could do to improve?. Also at the moment I do no stretching or injury prevention what should I be doing to keep injury free? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. :) Love the RU-vid videos by the way.

I’m an old hurdler so I don’t pretend to understand distance pacing and strategy, but can anyone explain to me the purpose of having multiple rabbits/ pacers? It seems strange that a rabbit would need another rabbit but, again, the mental part of these events are pretty foreign to me

So he would be 1400m ahead of you, Nick!

@Prentis: No, he wouldn't. Little bit over 1000m.

@@keinKlarname - You're right. I was just doing a quick calculation off the top of my head. I've now sat down with a calculator and worked it out precisely: Nick would have been at 3,979m - 1020m behind Cheptegai's World Record finish.
