LB depended only on Alex Nikolov to be honest, on the other hand Hawai' team was using every player as much as they could

Amazing how Erik got that call right at 8:15 the first time he looked at it. I remember watching that in the full replay and they spent a good time arguing what the right call was

I think another huge thing that contributed to LB's loss (in addition to not being in-rhythm blocking) was that they relied too much on Nikolov (#23, their stud outside). We had that problem in HS volleyball - our stud outside got hurt and we lost to our rivals because my team as a whole relied on her too much and no one stepped up to fill her role. Though, said rival's stud outside was also out; not because of an injury, but because she got a DUI.

What the other teams lacked was leadership, Jacob Telle was the perfect QB, as setter, as server, he kept the rest of his teammates focused and in rhythm and in system. LB and Ball St. looked out of sorts, trying to out power UH.

I think your on-screen score got it inverted. You have Long Beach's score as UH's and vice-versa.

Great analysis. I watched this match in full it was nice to watch as usual when UH and LBSU play each other. I did notice though that the on screen team edits show the wrong score for each team.

Hi Eric, I figured out the score discrepancy. Your editor has the scores reversed. He has the score for Hawai'i as the score for Long Beach. This is the second time I noticed this. I figured it out only because I watched this game and new the exact score. Anyway, I enjoy your critic on each play and what affects the outcome of each play. Thanks.

The must frustrating thing happened to me yesterday. I had practice with the adults team and i was soo close to getting a dig four times! Every time was when i was in area five. The same thing happened the three first times. There were two blockers on the line and i moved into the angle. I read it right every time, but i was just a little bit too much to the right. I was able to get one arm on it every time, but the ball just flew off it. But on the fourth try i read it right and i moved into the angle. I moved a little bit more to the left this time and the ball went on a perfect path towards my plattform, but in the last second the off blocker moved in front of me and tried to dig it overhand, but it just went off his fingers and out. I have been playing for just over a year and i have played with the adults for half a year. And every single practice i have been waiting for my time to show them how much i have grown and how better i have gotten on defense, but every single time it either goes off the block, someone else tries to get it, or im just positioned just enough to the side so that i can't get it!

Hey Erik - I enjoyed your critique of the 3rd game but . . . . . please get your scores corrected. It showed LBSU leading and winning but it was the opposite way around. Yes, Hawai'i did win but the score on your screen was very distracting and erroneous. Good talk!
