No... how is season 2 over?! 😭 I maaaaaaay have cried during Yachi's part in the training scene, but that probably isn't surprising 🙈 If you're interested in watching the OVA2 with me, I will be live-streaming it next week!
Please just be careful live streaming. Some commenters spoiled a few really important plot points when Coach Donny tried a live stream. If you have someone who can moderate comments for you, then that may be a good thing to do to be safe!
All Ushiwaka sees is a smart and adaptable setter. With shiratorizawa oikawa would just get carried by Ushiwaka and not grow. He made the right choice.
@@lalocaseries have you read the manga? it happens for real, it's in one of the extra one-shots after the manga ended. (if you try to find it online) it's chapter 402.6! huge spoilers if you haven't read the manga though
SPOILER It it believed that Oikawa defeated all of them in the Olympics and won against Japan. And by defeating all of them, it really is all of them. Hinata, Kageyama, Ushijima, etc. The bastard actually went and won against all of Japan in the biggest stage in the world. This hasn't been confirmed since it's an open ending, but by the dialog and the fact that that year Argentina won against Japan in the Olympics, IMO, Oikawa did win.
Iwaizumi blaming himself for not being good enough gets me every time T_T He saved so many balls in the end, holds the team together and keeps Oikawa and Kyotani in line. He is the pillar of the team. I like that there is no need for words between him and the other third years and he picks himself up after that.
Honestly people will hate me for saying this, but Iwa is the true captain on that team. Oikawa is more of the coach. But everyone looks to Iwa when the chips are down
I also like the little detail how Oikawa sneak peek at Iwaizumi first before thanking the audience, how he waits for Iwaizumi to be ready. The bromance between the two is so beautiful
Nah that last spike of him sucks. The pass from Oikawa is beautiful, there is only 1 blocker and he still failed. How can he call himself an ACE if he can't score that easy point?
You can tell Oikawa means business when he switches from calling Ushijima "Ushiwaka" to his real (last) name - and this was confirmed by the author, too, that Oikawa does it either when he's really sincere or when he's pissed :"D
Hello! This is pretty late, but I do want to ask if Frdt mentioned anything why Oikawa is in first name basis with Tobio? When he's teasing/mocking him, it's Tobio-chan. But in serious mode, it's Tobio. But I don't think I've ever heard him say Kageyama? Even with Hajime, he only calls him in his last name, Iwa-chan. So I wonder if Frdt mentioned anything about that.
@@zyranara i don't think furudate's ever said anything, but it's probably several things. 1) as kageyama's senpai, it's not super unusual that he might use his first name. just like people who are older are more likely to do away with honorifics or use less formal ones like -chan or -kun, they can afford to address those who are younger than them more casually. 2) that said, we see that even with oikawa's penchant for nicknames, he doesn't address the second or first years in seijou by their first names. in kageyama's case, it's similar to ushijima, where he adopts a more casual address with them, but it's not in an affectionate manner. it's meant to be rude/annoying instead of a sign of closeness. where tobio-chan vs. tobio comes in, the context matters like you said, and 'tobio' is as respectful as oikawa gets with kageyama because it's him treating kags on equal footing by getting rid of the mocking honorific. 3) contrast that with how he treats hinata later, "shoyou" is completely genuine and actually what you might expect from a regular senpai haha
"Don't you ever forget my worthless pride." What an amazing quote. He has so much passion and respects his team to such a degree that he shuts that shit down FAST.
The best thing about Ushiwaka to me is that he isn't arrogant at all. He's confident. And he's all about the competition. When he says he's looking forward to play Karasuno, he's genuine.
I love that the emotional parts hit just as hard as the action. You feel bad for anyone who loses because no one is the "villain" in this show, they just want to be the best at what they do.
not sure if anyone noticed a small detail about Yachi : she only whispers when she tries to cheer up for the team during the first prelim match. but as Karasuno goes further, her voice gets louder and louder and finally she is the one who is cheering, shouting and crying for her team.
The Oikawa long-range set to Iwa is the best. Kageyama and Hinata mostly doing borderline impossible stuff but Oikawas long-range was hardwork and skills.
Me, being the biggest Ushijima fan ever: here comes my time to shine Also yeah, he's not overly confident, he just knows for a fact that he's very good and has too poor of a social skill to understand that rubbing it in everyone's face isn't the best policy. Also the coach of their team WORSHIPS Ushijima, he's the golden boy who's not faced any major losses yet so he doesn't understand how it feels and how fragile victory is.
I love that Oikawa stood up to Ushijima because even though he never made it to nationals, I think Seijoh was the perfect choice for him. He didn't choose the wrong path at all. I actually think he would've hated Shiratorizawa's style because they're all about physical strength and brute forcing your way through blocks while he's the type of player who loves to outsmart the opponent and play a mental game. Seijoh was perfect for him and even though he never reached his dream with them, they made lots of beautiful memories together and he genuinely loved his team so much. Even though I'm really sad he never reached his dream in high school and even if he could've if he went to Shiratorizawa, I'm so happy that he didn't. That wasn't the place for him.
28:21, OH MY GOD SHE NOTICED! This is why Sarah is one of my favorite reactors to this anime. Not only she never misses a bit when it comes to the names of the characters, no matter how small their role. But also she picks up on the things that many of us maybe notice on the 3rd or 4th watch...
She didn’t notice the Oikawa quote from the previous episode, which is something that should have stood out to her. She didn’t even speak about it afterwards. Her mentioning it in the comments was probably because someone brought it up to her.
There are many many emotional moments in this series for me as a whole...but the sequence where Iwaizumi doubts his worth as an ace and is slapped on the back by Oikawa and the other third years has been stuck deep in my brain ever since I first watched it years ago.
Imagine going your entire school career never winning a championship just because you can't beat a certain team. That's what Oikawa is feeling. I don't like Oikawa as a character because of how he treats kageyama, but I do respect him as a athlete that's always working hard to surpass his limits and trying to better himself
@@drewpaupanekis4710 He did get a job... as a world class setter in Argentina. Don't be mad just cause others can work hard to achieve goals that you never could in life
All the little details they pack into this show is incredible. They showed Kageyama grinds his teeth in his sleep. The number of balls when Shimitzu looks at the court. The red around Kindaichi’s eyes after he leaves the sink. They never waste an opportunity to excel and I LOVE IT!
Haikyuu is very nice in that it focuses not only on the winners but also on the losers, and on the process of winning and losing. When Oikawa is joking around, he often uses nicknames or the suffix "chan", such as "Tobio-chan." In his "declaration of war" against Ushijima, he called him "Ushijima" instead of the nickname "Ushiwaka." This "declaration of war" still fascinates me as of September 2022. Kyo-ken-chan (Mad dog chan) is composed of Kyotani Kentaro, and Ushi-waka is composed of Ushijima Wakashi. The sound "Kyo-ken" reminds us of a mad dog, and "Ushiwaka" reminds us of a famous Japanese samurai named Ushiwaka-maru. Ushiwakamaru was a 12th century samurai, a famous figure known to almost everyone in Japan. He was extremely nimble and played a great role in battles by playing tricks on his enemies with his jumps. In this respect, "Ushiwaka" is a fitting nickname for the ace of Shiratorizawa, the strongest team in Miyagi Prefecture. As a child, Ushiwakamaru chastised a large and very strong monk named Benkei and made him his subordinate. Benkei continued to serve Ushiwakamaru until his death. In Japan, Ushiwakamaru and Benkei are often mentioned together.
my favorite moment all though it is a small one liner that kinda gets lost amidst everything else, is Iwa stating that he's glad he learned the joy of receiving.
It's even better when you consider Hinata's reaction to his receive. I think this is the first time in the series where he reacts to a receive the way he usually reacts to powerful/unusual attacks (by looking mesmerized and saying "wow/amazing"). Iwaizumi's choice of words is also interesting. I don't know what it sounds like in the original, obviously, but in the subs he says "the bliss of receiving", the same wording as Hinata's "the bliss of a feint" a couple of episodes prior. All of that really stood out to me in the context of Hinata's further development and the next logical step he's going to take on his path to greatness. This is the exact moment he fell in love with this aspect of volleyball, and I am HERE for it.
"Don't you ever forget my worthless pride" - such a strong statement in this context. I love season 2, especially this match. Recap: Too much to recap - Ushiwaka meeting - training camp, team improvements especially freak quick 2.0 - Kenma, lev, Kuroo, Bokuto - Tsukki's backstory - tournament - 2m tall guy, party team johenji, wakunan match - daichi injury, Ennoshita captaincy - Iron wall new setter, Karasuno vs Aoba Josei - too many moments in this match - yamaguchi 5 points, yahaba-mad dog, Oikawa breaking his limits with Iwa chan, karasuno winning. my ALL STAR team till season 2: I won't inlcude Ushiwaka because we haven't seen much of him yet Setter: Oikawa (C) Outside hitters: Bokuto, Asahi Opposite: Kageyama Middle blockers: Aone, Kuroo Libero: Nishinoya Sub: Hinata Once I get to see Sarah's team, I would love to make a team that can go up against her team, that's just so much fun to think about
Oh my gosh, this lineup has me thinking.... I haven't recorded my All-Star team yet, but I have some players who are on the edge that I'm not sure what to do!! There were also so many good moments from this season that it's hard to narrow them down. I feel like there are only a few really *standout* moments, but soooooo many smaller impactful parts.
@@SarahPavanVolleyball ohh, I am waiting for your all star team Sarah. I just find it very fun making a team that can play a game against your team. I try to do it other reactors too whoever puts out a team. I just enjoy thinking about how the game would go
They did a good job of showing the finale from the loosing team's perspective. Season 1 had Karasuno's point of view of the lose. And season 2 had Sejo' s point of view of the lose
Oikawa Always appreciated kageyama's talent. From the First Time we've seen him he said that kageyama was a Better setter than him, he was Just a the Better overall player and knew Better how to help his teammates.
You finally get to see just how strong Ushiwaka and Shiratorizawa is. Season 3 is my favorite season and I can watch over and over without getting tired of it and I know you will enjoy it too
Also, I always tear up every time I watch the moment where the other students stayed after school to congratulate and cheer them for beating seijoh and advancing to the finals.
BIG hype for season 3, it's one of those rare things that I had huge expectations I was unable to temper and it still managed to exceed them. Great times ahead, great video as always!
Best moments for me. I don't think #1 is really contested, but all of the rest are tough. 10) The too-cool-for-school captain of Ougi Minami finally commits 9) Tsukishima's brother comes clean with him, and they start to heal 8) Bokuto's "moment" speech to Tsukishima 7) Yachi declares that she will be the manager to her mother 6) Yamaguchi aces 5) Yahaba's speech to Mad Dog inspires him to go out and find that he's actually part of a team in front of his mentor 4) Yamaguchi: "What the HELL else do you need besides pride?" 3) "I'm Hinata Shoyo, of the concrete." 2) Ennoshita saves the tool off the block to beat Wakunan 1) The final rally against Seijoh
i'm so excited for you to watch season 3! thank you so much for all the amazing reactions and commentaries, sarah! now, i will be rewatching your reactions from s1 ep 1 😂
Love your videos so much, i look forward for them and make me so excited while waiting everytime, i dont usually comment things on youtube but i needed to express how much I apreciate everything you upload 🤍 including the volley content apart from Haikyuu reactions. Thank you so much ! ! you are a precious soul and it shines thru your doing 🌟
I'm so glad I just found this channel, I've been watching all of your reactions, and you're so amazingly attentive and genuine with great commentary and emotions. Thank you so much for all your insights, I can't wait for you to see season 3!
It took me forever to catch up in your playlist of episodes, but I'm finally up to date! You're the second volleyball player I've found reacting to this anime and I quite enjoy the added bonus of volleyball knowledge and stories that you bring to the experience. I can't wait to experience season 3 with you and the rest of this community you have!
I don’t know why but seeing someone actually play the sport and react to haikyuu makes the whole reaction feel more genuine/better. it stands out way more than any other reaction channel I’ve watched do this anime. definitely subscribing, love this channel already!!! ❤️
I just love how Ushijama says their whole names lol Kageyama Tobio. 😐 Hinata Shoyo. 😐 Thanks for the vid, Excited to get your thoughts on the next match
Earlier this year I had to perform volleyball drills for a project in university, we had to watch some videos as reference on how to properly do the drills. Up until I started watching your reactions and browsing your channel that I realized it was your videos that I've seen a few months ago, it's helped me so much and now I finally caught up and watching haikyuu with you makes me feel like I'm watching it again for the first time, thank you for sharing your journey with us!! ❤
Oikawa is my favourite character in Haikyuu. Such a great character. My fav Haikyuu ep is also ep 16. I think that episode encompasses the core of Haikyuu
I can’t wait for you to see s3. The episode 4 is my fave and I can’t wait for you to witness that masterful rally! Hehehe and ofcourse the character development! ❤ Love you sarah you are the freaking best!
"Don't you ever forget my worthless pride." I love how it all comes full circle when they face off as adults "What do you think of my worthless pride now?"
i really cant wait for your s3 reaction. as someone great at blocking, the number of blocks in that short 10 eps. will get you hooked in this series even more.
My S2 All Star Team: Setter: Oikawa Opposite: Bokoto Middle Blockers: Kuroo / Aone Wing Spikers: Kageyama / Iwaizumi Libero: Nishinoya My rationale: Oikawa will bring out the best in Bokuto and make him never turn Emo Mode, and Kageyama being a wing spiker with Iwaizumi would be an absolutely phenomenal pairing, not only because they all have history together, and not only because Kageyama would not threaten Oikawa for the same position, but Kageyama would also have the ability to make perfect sets to other players as an already excellent spiker.
I've watched all these episode so many times but just realized that Yachi helping them with training is a foreshadow to the importance they will give her as a manager in the years to come, for she was the one in their worse moments. The author does it pretty much with the rivalities of the teams, but this one I just realized now
I caught up finally! I wanna say thanks to you Sarah for reacting haikyuu!! This is my comfort anime idk how many times I've watched the season(s) and read the manga. Seeing you reacting to these episodes for the first time I can't help but to feel so proud. I really like your reactions in all two seasons. Can't wait to see your future reactions of this anime! ITS JUST GETTING BETTER FOR REAL!
Super excited to see Sarah react to season 3! Personally, there's only maybe five or six anime series/seasons that I would rate a perfect 10/10, and Haikyuu season 3 is one of them. Everything about it is just perfect, from the way Ushiwaka and Shiratorizawa have been built up, to the storytelling and pacing of the story. Season 3 really is something special.
When Sarah said that she can't help feeling abit heartbroken, that hits so hard because that's exactly what I feel as well. That's why I feel this match is still special compare the rest. I'm looking forward to the Dumpster's match as well
@@NobodyNobodytrustNobody yes I'm upset about that too 😤. I haven't read the manga but I know at least some that will happen. I still think they're gonna focus on dumpster match for the movie. My guess that it will be a full match in part 1, finish it in part 2 and unfortunately might chop off the rest after that 😞. Should I just read the manga instead?
@@fullmoon3128 I'm sure the movie would be good but a lot of the things we enjoy about Haikyuu - all the emotions and the intricate details and the art and the subtexts will not all be captured right? I'd highly recommend reading the Manga too. Especially I got impatient before part 2 of S4 came out and read the whole thing, but the anime still was so good though 😊😊
I recently came across your reaction videos and have spent the past few days binging from S1E1 and even putting on hold other reaction videos cos it's been so refreshing to watch your reactions and comments! Love the nuggets of information you gave that makes it easier to understand some of the volleyball acts that were made. Definitely can't wait for next season's reaction!
Your reactions made me so happy!!! I was smiling so hard through this video, and while you explained your feelings at the end I was just nodding away with my chin in my hands. Thank you for taking us on this ride with you! Can’t wait for the Cyclone rollercoaster of Season 3!!!
So happy to hear that "Winners & Losers" is her fav ep, too (actually relieved, since her tendency to speak negatively towards opponent teams/members had me a bit anxious)! Gonna leave my support & my personal opinions about the iffy subs as usual: 4:05 「のれません」➔ "I won't". I guess they thought that this phrase would cause less confusion, but I really wish they chose to go with "I can't". The simple "I won't" would be 「のりません」in Japanese, but Kageyama chose to say 「の*れ*ません」. With simple words, Kageyama was saying that there's no reason for him to get complacent or think that he'd already surpassed Oikawa at this point. 17:24 「準決勝だし…まあ、こんなもんだろう」➔ "The lost in the semifinals. What do you expect?". I guess it's supposed to be "They" & not "The" at the beginning, but still, this line should be more like "Well, it's (only) the semifinals... so this is just about how you'd expect things to be, I guess". Sawamura's talking about the overall trend of news coverages here & not saying anything specific about Seijoh. 22:44「日向が突進して掴みかかったり、影山君が投げ飛ばして倒したり、」➔ "Hinata like charged you and tried to fight with you, and then Kageyama-kun started punching and pushed you over...". A more literal translation would be more like "Hinata charging (Kageyama) & grabbing (him), & Kageyama-kun flinging (Hinata) & knocking (him) down (as a result)...". 「掴みかかる」is describing how Hinata grabbed Kageyama's shirt front, so I guess you can say "tried to fight with you" instead, but where did they get "started punching"?! Perhaps they miss-heard 「投げ(nage = throw)」as 「殴り(naguri = punch)」?
Ahhhh.... can't wait for your reaction to S3, which is arguably the best in the series as it contains at least two of the top 5 Haikyuu moments, and my personal favorite!!!
I've been watching your reactions for a while now and I finally caught up! right before S3!! I wanted to say that I LOVE you and your videos, it's always fun to hear your opinion and seeing your knowledge is so inspiring and entertaining You are amazing and I'm looking forward to revisiting S3 with you!
@@Jing_Ling_Uncles 🤣 🤣🤣 Someone said that ushiwaka seemed like 45yr old man🤣. I like him now as I already finished manga. As you might know it's hard to dislike someone in Haikyuu. Thanks anyway your comment was hilarious!
Kindaichi is most affected next to Kageyama about what to happened to their middle school, coz he's the one who started protested to their coach and turned his back to Kageyama, so up til this season he was feeling guilty. And Ushiwaka, i could say, he can be on par with Takeda sensei as a recruiting agent...haha 😅 ... Ushiwaka to Oikawa "you should have come to Shiratorizawa" every single time they both met.
You are the best! ❤ I can't wait for every video to be uploaded and when I find it, it makes me the happiest! And the way you enjoy Haikyuu! you are enjoying yourself and your love for volleyball makes me happy too Thank you for everything! I'm looking forward to season 3 ❤ I'm not good at English, so sorry if I'm incoherent using translations! All I want to say is that I love you and thank you❤ Sarahさん、いつも楽しい時間をありがとうございます!
For me season 3 is right there with the second half of season 4 as my favorite. I watched the episodes at work trying to stay quiet. You are in for a ride.
Season 3 is so good... I hope you are ready because you will be screaming at the TV/ Monitor and I can't wait. I will say the next season has a lot of imagery... and underline meaning.
Through season 2, I especially like Yamaguchi because he is only one person who found his mentor on his own , required the coach to get chance again then changed his destiny by his own will.
