I regard Olympus O-MD E-M5 Mark II as one of the most capable and most affordable photographic and videographic tools that you can get your hands on today. It features a high resolution 16 megapixel sensor that allows you to take excellent photos and videos with it. It also features a five axis image stabilization that enables you to take hand-held shots at incredibly low shutter speeds.

One of the clearest explanations I’ve seen so far . So helpful, and I don’t really know what all the letters and tech specifications really mean anyway. I’m just a painter looking for a good all round camera for when I need to record my subject matter for later reference. Colour is meant to be quite good with this camera , I think.

Fantastic explanation that showcases the true strengths of the Micro Four Thirds format cameras. Although I shoot with a Sony APS-C camera myself, I would have to say that I still envy some aspects of the Micro Four Thirds system, especially the wide array of affordable lenses. Thanks for the video.

Thank you very much for the well-thought-out comment. The strength of the Micro 4/3 format is having access to affordable lenses that are plenty sharp and enable the user to achieve pretty respectable amount of shallow depth of field. What Micro 4/3 can't compete with Sony APCS line of cameras is in the image quality, dynamic range and also Sony's continuous autofocus, particularly tracking during shooting videos. Thanks again for your comment. Cheers.

I preordered this camera the day it was announced in early 2015: it was supposed to be released in late 2014 but in reality availability was very poor, despite preorders.The EM5 has stunning build quality and a lot of features: the thing I like the most is the viewfider, because the LCD has a more natural feeling then the oversharpend OLED EVF which are ubiquitous. In the last few years the PenF has become my most used camera but the EM5MkII is still there with the 12-40 and a Fotodiox Pro Grip for when I have to go in rough environments. To someone just only owning the kit lens I'd suggest to buy the 25mm 1.8 rather then the 45 hbecause of flexibility unless he's a portrait shooter, and even then, it's debatable: the 45 mm gives good bokeh, but the minimum focussing distance is just terrible. The 25mm still does a good job with bokeh, but gives you more room and flexibility while being able to focus very close to your subject. Too bad OMD thinks plasticky bodies with poor design could be a bright idea: I heard many EM5MkIII had their bottom screw sockets ripped out by the tripod head due to poor resilience. Olympus plastic on the EM5MkIIIis not inherently "bad", but compared to, for example to the Canon RP you can definitely feel it more cheap and less sturdy. Yet, it would be nice to have Phase detection on the EM5MkII and a better face detection: in my experience this camera is very bad for video, especially Vlogging because of poor continuous autofocus.

@@shoottosave8117 that's terrific! I'm now looking to get the 17 mm F1.8 for a good price. That one also has the excellent clutch mechanism for switching back and forth between manual and autofocus.

A m4/3 is a quarter of a full frame sensor. I have one and it’s a great little camera.

@KhashayarGhazianzad Год назад
Thanks for the comment. Actually, it's half the size of a full frame sensor; therefore, your focal length always doubles in comparison to a full frame sensor. Cheers, Kash

@@KhashayarGhazianzad the diagonal is half the length but in surface it’s 3,8 times smaller. A m4/3 sensor is about 17 x 13 mm. A FF sensor is 36 x 24 mm. Not saying anything about the IQ though.

For sheer build quality, professional features and stunning image quality you're not going to get better but go for the Mark ii instead of the later model

Thank you very much for stopping by. Yes, I agree 💯 percent. I haven't tried the Mark III, but I'm sure that I'm not going to like since it's mostly made out of polycarbonate. I just cannot forgo such magnificent build quality for the sake of the added features that the new one boasts.
