OMA's Story! 

OMA... Imádom! Köszönök mindent, sokat tetszett segíteni. Amikor New Yorkban voltam, kinyitottam egy vörösbort és együtt főztünk a barátaimnak. Thank you for everything and you are a superhero!

What a lovely woman Oma is and look at the love she has given to her family; she is getting it all back now ten fold!! Bless her.

When I watch OMA cooking, it takes me back to time spent with my Hungarian grandma, watching her cook Paprikas Csirke and her "noodlees" (dumplings).

WOW!! What a raving endorsement for Oma! It's easy to see from only watching a few of her "Oma's Kitchen" videos over the past few days, and the reason her family treasures her as they do. Oma caught my attention from the first video, and now I'm hooked! What a beautiful person she is, and special family she has raised! Coming from Hungarian/German roots, there were huge hardships her family endured, including having to split from some family members and move to Canada, where she settled and loving raised her family with the kind of TLC that has her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren singing her praises. She taught her family what it means to love and care for those who have been entrusted to them, and her rich history will forever live on because of her careful example to them. I have my own loving history that primarily comes from Norway and Denmark for which I am so grateful, and I understand what it means to come from such wonderful stock. The world is a very different place today than it once was. Those of us who know and remember the history of struggles and sacrifices that our parents, grandparents, etc. endured need to hold on tightly to the principles engrained in us so that they aren't forgotten, as this is where our strength and purpose comes from. Thank you, Oma and Ed, for sharing your family with us. It's obvious that you understand how important your role in preserving your family history and values. Thank you for encouraging others to do the same.

Oma, thank you for sharing your recipes and life story, blessings to you and your family! My Mother was born in Wien, Austria in 1931. My Dad was stationed there with US Army at the end of the war. They met and were married in 1951, then came to Dad’s hometown in Ohio later that year. Mom and Dad were married for 69 years. ~Sylvia

Oh, watching this makes me miss my oma, my family immigrated from Holland in the 50's. She raised 6 children during the war when the germans occupied Holland. My opa was picked up by the germans and sent to friesland. For a year oma didn't know if opa was alive or dead. I could talk to my oma about anything, she didn't like churches, she felt you didn't need a building to worship God but she always told me, "There is One, and He takes care, you do your best and give the rest to Him". I miss her, I miss my mom, I miss my aunt, I have 1 auntie left. I am so pleased to see you cherish her, don't miss a minute!. God bless you Oma!.

I only discovered these videos a few days ago as I am of Magyar descent and always looking for authentic recipes for Hungarian dishes. She reminds me of my Grandmother who came to Canada in 1926 and settled in Montreal . I plan on watching all the videos, they are great !!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful story and video. Made me cry and reflect on my own parents own story which is very similar. I was born and raised in Poland. We all came to the United States and it was a blessing. My entire family is gone other than my 92 year old mother. God bless you and your family Oma. I am truly sorry I did not find you earlier. Now I find that this is your last year of videos. So sorry. I am in the process of downloading everyone of the 35 you made. Thanks to you your great cameraman and for sharing with us.

Why am I a crying mess?!? Oh my beautiful oma you are everyone’s oma. Thank you family for sharing her with us who don’t even know her yet feel like she’s ours too. She taught me how to cook Hungarian food, I’m not even Hungarian but she taught me just like my Costa Rican grama taught me how to cook. Much much love from Arizona.

Oma, my Namo and Napo escaped Hungary with my dad and uncle during WWII to Austria in a refugee camp, then to Kansas in the US. I don’t have a video of my Namo telling her story, but a family friend did an audio recording of her talking about their leaving Hungary that I cherish.

Oma, where have you been all my life? I just found your videos and have searched for a tasty Hungarian goulash recipe for a while now. Your recipe is the best ever! Thank you for sharing! My father is Hungarian and mother is Thai. I always watch your videos to learn some Hunagarian dishes. My father came to Canada when Germans invaded looking for a better life when he was a teen.
