I remember working City engines in Galesburg, back then. The depot and much of the scenery in the video is gone, now. I was young, cocky, fit, and eager to switch those yards. Pulled one of the last load of bricks from the East Galesburg Purington brick yard. Got black as hell setting a car of carbon black at the Gates Rubber hose factory. Yard D, Innisville, both Hump yards & bowls, the Ice yard and Prospect. And several years out on the road, too. I miss those days and that work.

My dad worked for the cnw back in the 70's out of Omaha, very cool to think he may have been on the train in the opening sequence

Quite the mix-and-match of passenger equipment, marked for Amtrak as well as the private railroads!

When making a railroad video, include the train sounds and not dramatic music. I came for the trains and left because of the overwhelming music. Personal opinion.

@@peetduplessis7796 There are no train sounds because it's silent film.

In my view, the music fits the film footage - almost haunting in a way since railroads nationwide were hurting due to competition from trucking.

Me personally I love the music and just peacefulness. This also gives us viewers to commentate amongst ourselves what we are watching. I also wish many of these films had narration so we know all what we are seeing including dates, location, historical significance. Great videos as always.
