Nice repair work! I am a Fireman on 119 on Wednesdays. She is getting some other major repairs done over this winter as well. Looking forward to hearing her whistle properly again!
You guys seem to be whistle experts, and may know a group or fellow who does whistle work here or there who might have done work on OP&E 19's whistle. A great video on of all things, a Lego OP&E 19 dropped yesterday that mentioned it recieved a "Nathan 6 Chime" some time back which does not seem to have the charm of 19's og whistle (that I never knew until then). Any ideas on what specific style of whistle 19 had until then? Maybe you might know who would have done such a repair/replacement or have an idea of where to start on such a search? I would say the best video examples to look up would revolve around at the least back in the 80's to early 2000's. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I've been curious about Nathan 6 chimes for a while. I noticed there seem to be two different sounds that seem to be common with them. The first sounds more like your guy's demonstration video, which ends up sounding closer to an SP 6 chime. Then there's another odd, more dissonant sound. Higher pitched with more of a bark to it like Pere Marquette 1225. What, if I may ask, causes this difference.
