To truly understand the beauty of this song, one must understand the protagonist of this movie Velayudhan's(as played by Mohanlal) relationship with the river. His mother was washed away by the river, as she was giving birth. His biological mother never made it but Velayudhan survived. Velayudhan grows up considering the river to be his mother. As an adult, he makes a living by capturing & selling huge trees that are uprooted and washed off when the river floods. So the river, his mother still provides for him. This song can be thought off as a lullaby being sung to Velayudhan either by the river his adoptive mother or his biological mother from the afterlife. And those who have seen the movie would know that, before this song starts, Velayudhan has been beaten and broken and is probably in the lowest point in his life. So this song can also be seen as the mother consoling her son. Healing and rejuvenating him for the final battle that lays ahead. (Thanks for all the likes and supportive comments, guys!)

Vineeth Sreenivasan said in an interview that while recording this song, he struggled a lot to get the approval of the music director even after giving repeated takes. in fact, in this entire song, he had just 2 lines: ohohooo oh naran...ohooo njaan orru naran... puthu janmam neydiye naran...ohh naran njaan orru naran. Then Chitra ma'am came and completed her part in like half an hour and left the studio. Seeing this he was somehow inspired and went for one more take and got it right

Just listening to Chithra chechi's voice and the amazing lyrics and suddenly Vineeth Sreenivasan's voice take over and take the song to a completely different level...OMG can't express though words. To fully understand the impact of this song, you need to watch the movie and understand the importance of that particular river and also the meaning of the lyrics. You have to watch the movie and understand Mohanlal's character in Naran to understand the depth and impact of this song in the heart of us malayali audience. Mohanlal's character in this movie has to be the most loved character he has ever played in his 43 year long career. As a hard core Mohanlal admirer no other character of his has this kind of emotional attachment with me. Velayudhan in Naran is gem ❤❤❤❤ What you see in this video is an actual flood and Mohanlal did all his stunts without a dupe in a flooded river which even had crocodiles in it.

If u know the story this song will be more emotional to u,, mohanlal is an orphan and he came in a flood same lyk this scene, as a baby, and the people in that place got him and they took them and he grow up there, bcoz of tht he thinking tht the protection of people of the village are his responsibily, he is saying that, the river is my mother bcoz, the found him from that river,, and this songs lines are about it, its like his mom(river)singing a song for her son..

Great Reaction ASHMITHA LOVED IT ❤ VINEETH & CHITHRA CHECHI's voice & the combination of the classical instruments ( Flute,Piano & Guitar) made possible this mesmerizingly wonderful Song 😊💞 Also I would like to mention you the performance of LALETTAN ; It was unreal!! He acted extraordinarily & done a lot of risky stunts without the aid of a Dupe in NARAN 🔥 His Stunts in the Flooded river like catching the flowing log & carrying it to shore are all real!!( Also he does that many a times in this Film) Even I heard that the crew had to stop shooting once since they saw a Crocodile on the Banks ( At the exact Moment when LALETTAN was swimming) ! He took risks with his own life and gave the viewers such a delightful performance in NARAN ❤🥺 This song makes us motivated & emotional at the same time 🙌

Mohanlal did all these shots himself in an originally overflowing river. You should watch the whole movie to see how much he has given for making each water shots. He didn't want his dupe actor to do those scenes as he said "we shouldn't put someone else's life in danger. I will do it on my own".

The river seen in this video is the most dangerous river....No one dares to go down into this river....There are venomous snakes, crocodiles and everything and there is a good depth....The director said that it can be done with Dupe...But Laletan took the risk...Everyone was afraid...But Laletan went down in the river without any fear..
