My rule: If you can afford it, always get a new watch on the bracelet. Straps are a dime a dozen and you can easily add them after your purchase if you want to. OEM bracelets, on the other hand, can be hard to locate later - and are usually expensive. A bracelet adds to resale value as well.
Good points all but this was only available in that moment with the strap and a great price. I can buy the OEM bracelet separately and still have gotten a good deal.
That’s a gorgeous Omega. Absolutely love that dial and strap. You have a brilliant eye and aesthetic . Always enjoy watching your content. Real attention to detail and every frame visually pleasing.
This is my favorite Omega offerings. One of our managers at work has one....I am rarely jealous of other peoples possessions. This is one of those times where I am. Being a guy who spends a lot of time in the field as an electronics tech, it's almost like it was designed for a guy like me!!!
Great revisit of the Railmaster. Also, Liz, you're B-roll and editing are just getting better and better! I love watching your videos because they draw you in as compellingly as the best salesman out there, without actually trying to sell you anything 😅 As a fellow Pennsylvanian (albeit in spirit alone at this point for me, many move s later), I hope I'll be able to watch your journey on this channel for years to come 💜
Fast becoming my fave watch channel Elizabeth. Great commentary and background/product history. Great production and that watch looks just so for your wristshot outfit.
Great time piece, but agree with you that it can clash with various dress. Nice job with the photography. You can always trade it in on another Omega... just say'n. Thanks for sharing.
Another great piece of insight and really understand your experience of having a watch that may not be as versatile as you'd like despite it being dial-tastic. Many brands often make very cool outliers, indeed some with funky or exclusive colourways and dials, but the more traditional pieces generally win the day and wrist time in the end because they better suit your daily life. I guess there is a reason why 'classic' designs ' become icons and stand the test of time.
Fantastic video! I'm not sure I've seen anyone doe a. review on the railmaster. Very nice to see something different and interesting. Keep up the good work!
My EDC watch for the last decade of so is a 1949 Omega Stainless Seamster, which I have had for about 45 years. It is in beautiful condition and runs very well. It got semi retired today in favor of a new Casio Oceanus S100. I was born the same year as the Omega, and it appears as if it is going to outlast me. I hope the next person appreciates it as much as I have.
Really a nice dial! I bought one for my son’s graduation…. I seriously thought about keeping it, and giving him another watch. This watch on the denim and leather nato is amazing. And NO…I cannot blame you for buying it! You’ll love it!
I share your love for the Black Bay in blue! Its been my grail watch for years and I've been on the cusp of buying one for like 6 weeks just can't seem to pull that trigger! Just subbed. Love the channel!
I enjoyed your review. Loved the presentation, from the script, to your video editing, to the quality of your narration, it's very well made. Watched this after I saw you featured on Bruce William's channel.
This is absolutely one of the best watch channels today. You will be among the biggest watch reviewers on RU-vid soon. I want to save this comment so when you hit million subscribers, I can tell my friends that I had predicted this when you only had thousands subscribers.😂😂
Thank you for the amazing review! I watched it a few months ago and enjoyed it as much today. And I love this watch. I tried it on a few years ago, and it was so comfortable. I love the blue denim dial. It would look great with jeans, a t-shirt/shirt, etc. But your point about not being versatile enough to wear as it doesn't work with your outfits is really important. I can see the same thing happening to me. With that blue dial, you wouldn't be able to wear black straps, so I guess it would have to be it would be, blue, brown, or a stainless steel bracelet. I am tempted to get this thought whilst it's still available, and I think it would be a nice fun piece in a small collection. Do let us know if you end up selling it. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Happy Saturday E, I knew there was a reason for me to be up at 530 today. Besides getting up to walk the purebred mutt up the hill to allow my Siren friends to Schleppe me some black gold. Withoutgoing into details, I think this was your best video yet! I am quite impressed by your detailed history of the watch as well as the technical data, which you always provide with perfect intricacy. The watch looks perfectly at home adorning your wrist! Now I’m off with my Stanley Admiral and my faithful rescue sidekick. And my always present Explorer II.
Elizabeth! That's a spectacular watch and a great backstory getting that amazing discount! Instead of wearing that watch less, you should wear jeans more lol!! It looks fabulous on you, I think you would regret selling it. P.s. Your editing is second to none ... definitely becoming one of my favourite watch channels, fantastic content, delivered in a super high-class package. I hope your channel grows to the subscription is truly deserves.
Great pick-up. I purchased an Seamaster Chrono some years back for 30% off as well. They ultimately lost their Omega AD status, but until then it was a great place to shop Omega.
Hi- just watched the live stream on BW. Wow- great production on your videos! I got the creamsicle just this July and absolutely love it. Last year I went to an Omega boutique just looking at stuff and I came across the denim Railmaster and I thought it was figging killer. Damb 30% off! I would of pulled the trigger too😀
Nice review. The Railmaster is underrated, however the denim is a stand out beautiful dial. I agree it is perfect with jeans and casual attire. I think, with a leather or a fancy strap YOU could get away with wearing it at a wedding/etc. It's a OMEGA!
I believe you are my gateway to Omega and being an absloute denimhead this one really turns my head! The dial is amazing!!! This could just be my grail watch...
This is the best railmaster review on RU-vid. Great job! I was one step away from purchasing of blue jeans dial Railmaster on bracelet. But finally decided to buy an orange Planet Ocean.
Gorgeous dial. I've never seen it before. The Seamaster and the Speedy are on my list. Now I have to add this Railmaster Denim. If I can find one that is. Thanks for the video.
Great vid. Great price too. 10-20% off msrp of non-limited edition Omegas is normal. 30% is great. I have the same gen Railmaster, but with the black dial. You’re not missing anything by not having the bracelet. I took mine off the bracelet and wear it on a NATO that matches the fauxtina lume. Gets a lot of wear because of how low key it is - looks at home with jeans, a t-shirt, and an old comfy pair of converse while out running errands. As a suggestion of a smaller men’s watch to check out, try a Zodiac super sea wolf on the oyster style bracelet. 40mm, short lugs, sits real low on the wrist. The bracelet is the best I’ve experienced. Looks nice, has micro adjusts, and has an expanding link system on both sides so that it adjusts on the fly as your wrist shrinks/swells throughout the day. Also, likely not an issue for you, but this helps get the bracelet over your hand (I have small wrists but big hands; I literally cannot get my hand through some bracelets if they’re properly adjusted for my wrist). They have GMT versions, and have a ton of color variations.
If wearing a NATO the normal way raises the watch too high for you, you can easily wear it as a single pass strap. Just flip the part that normally sits beneath the watch back toward the buckle and pass the strap end through both that keeper and the buckle. This has the added advantage of moving the hardware from a conspicuous bulge on the side of your wrist to beneath your wrist, and putting the double layer of fabric under your wrist where I find it adds to comfort.
Great review of a great watch Liz! I have a 2005 Omega moon watch, which was my grail watch! But I’ve eyed this denim railmaster off for quite awhile!🤤 Be happy with your purchase & maybe occasionally go against so called convention & wear it with your cocktail dress! 🤩😎👍🏼🇦🇺
Forstner makes a great bracelet that works for the railmaster wonderfully. I got one for mine and its great. Tapers down to 16mm and has plenty of micro adjustments its great. Check it out if you still want a bracelet
Thank you for the real review. This watch was the 1st thing that made me stop into the AD years ago. I saw it in a watch magazine when it came out. I love blue! But it don't choose it every day and I have 2 blue Seiko diver watches already! I saw it this morning on Jomashop for $1825. I wasn't even thinking about this one. I wanted the CK 859 and was checking for that. I couldn't believe it, the price! They are a grey market, but for that price, I couldn't refuse. I watched your video and immediately saw that both myself and my wife could share this. She laughed when I said that. Then she said do it and don't sell another watch you love. I watched your video several times. I noticed that you were wanting the Tudor Black Bay blue and eventually got it. Don't you have the same problem with pairing it with your outfits? My wife said blue goes with everything because the sky is blue. I sure love her.
Great review, love omega ,get the bracelet ,I know its not micro adjust but the watch looks so much better with the bracelet plus you can wear what you like with the bracelet, good luck hope you keep it.
Grail piece for me, much more interesting than a good chunk of the omega lineup. Nice review, I’d definitely look into the bracelet. Congratulations on an great catch.
My wife wears a 1957 Trilogy Railmaster in 38mm size. She loves it and does not think it is too big. In fact it fits her perfectly. It has elegant style, and not too masculine like the Speedmaster or Seamaster counterparts. She works in the electric vehicle industry and is in contact with electric motors (motors have a magnet inside). Her watch is completely anti-magnetic and she loves every technical feature about the Railmaster 1957.
Congratulations on your first Omega (there will be more!)I bought a Oris divers sixty five Mommotaro edition with the denim strap. I love the watch but wear it once a month. I will keep it because sometimes my wife wears it.Well that being said switch the straps , nato, jubilee, oyster, leather and find the one that excites you.Omega is awesome and again keep up the good work. Remember the grail once achieved means on to the next grail lol cheers.
Man that’s killer. Walking into a ‘going out of biz’ sale and getting a deal that good? That doesn’t happen often. You were obligated to make that purchase. 😎👍🏼 ……that’s what we tell ourselves anyway 😏 Also, as a professional photographer, I appreciate that ancient film cam! I started on a Hasselblad 20 years ago. Not sure what that is you have. Kinda looks like a Kodak Brownie
Snap! Years ago, I was walking & came across a crowded store. It was a closing jewelry/watch store. Went in, browsed & ended up getting the first Omega Seamaster quartz. That was about 42 or 41 years ago, the year after I got my Submariner date.
I also bought the Denim Railmaster. I wore it with the denim NATO strap for two days and probably will never wear it again (although I watched a youtube video that showed me how to use the NATO without the unsightly side fold thing sticking out an inch). But what I did was put it on a Milanese bracelet with a deployment clasp that I bought on eBay for under $110! It looks very 007, and sits low on the wrist, and its reminiscent of the NTTD titanium Milanese on the Seamaster Professional 300 that Daniel Craig wore in the last movie of the 007 James Bond franchise (don’t get me started, I am still angry). Anyway with this bracelet you also get a perfect fit that can even be easily let out for those hot sticky days (i live in Fort Lauderdale) for extra comfort. The only drawback is no Omega sign on the clasp. I have thought about bringing it to the mall (are there still malls?) and have one the kiosk people engrave it on there. It will be our secret. I hope this idea will reignite your love affair with this awesome watch!
Just added the silver dial version to my Omega collection. Came with a very worn in leather NATO which has cleaned up nicely and due to wear is somewhat thinner on the rist now. Faux patina aside (personally I love it), this is a stunning watch. Sits very nicely against my other Seamasters, a Speedy and a DeVille. Globemaster is next then done......😂
Many thanks Elizabeth for sharing your journey to owning an Omega Railmaster. A fantastic dial that you may find yourself looking at and then having to look at it again because you forgot to read the time. I find myself doing this with a few of my watches like my Globemaster Pie Pan dial in blue on the blue leather strap, shown in the video at 1:35. It doesn't matter that other Omega watches are just as anti magnetic, the Railmaster has its own style. I can totally understand that it might not be and every day watch due to different outfits, I find the same thing when I wear my Aquis green sunburst dial but I love the watch too much to sell it on. You could always update the wardrobe a little for less than getting a new watch. Joking aside, you may only wear it from time to time but I guess when you do it feels very special. Thanks for sharing, sometimes that journey to getting the watch is a memory that comes back when you wear it.
I have recently fallen in love with Omega. I myself just picked up a 1957 Omega SeaMaster (Trilogy) and I love it!!!! Hence why my heart broke a little when you picked at the denim dial over the 57 Railmaster lol nonetheless, enjoy the watch. It's a great one. Even if u do decide to part ways with it at some point. Great video!
Great review. Subbed. As a man with similar skinny wrists, I’m thrilled to have found this channel 😂 blue dial watches look great on steel or dark brown leather. Highly recommend it on a vintage dark brown leather or tan even if you want it casual
Great watch and video. My brother has this watch. It's just too small for my wrist and liking. ... Just wanted to say it's very refreshing to see a woman interested in this male dominated hobby. You put great effort into your videos, especially the different shots of the watches you present. Very professional. Bravo.
Awesomely beautiful watch! To address your conundrum. 1. Buy a different Omega bracelet that has micro adjust. 2. Buy several NATO and leather straps and rotate. 3. Follow Iris Apfel's advice and wear what makes you happy, not what's in fashion. Own it, make it your statement piece.
Great video, I would reconsider looking into this timepiece. Didn’t realize it’s such a nice wearable size. Rolex is becoming too large for wrist and Tudor and Omega seem to be hitting all the right spot.
Wait! Before you sell it, try swapping it out on a bunch of Natos. I wear my blue SMP 300 Diver exclusively on natos and it gives me the daily wear. Sold off most of my collection for this one watch. It’s been on my wrist for almost a year and I love it. Love the vids, keep ‘em coming! 👍
I just bought one of these as it does fit my style, and even with a nice Ralph Lauren sport coat that was made to be worn with denim. I have been stalking Omega watches for years now and have finally pulled the trigger on this one that is simple but beautiful. I am a large boned ex college football player so the NATO band was a pleasant surprise that it easily fit my wrist with plenty of room.. (that I can see with you wearing it that you have to fold it back down whereas I barely get to the top fixed leather strap to hold the band.
You made a very wise choice, it is understated, and has a great movement.I own one as well, but bought, the bracelet, too.I own, a Speedy FOIS, and a Stainless Ploprof, but, I wear the Denim Railmaster, a lot more. Great video.!
This was my first Omega too. I got it on the bracelet and bought the strap as an add-on. Unfortunately, the lack of a date and the denim dial quickly soured for me and I sold it a few months after. The reasons you stated also applied: practically all Omegas now are amagnetic, so this is redundant. Perhaps if I got the other dial color options I would still have it today. In hinsight, I wish I wore it more when I had it.
@@elizabeth_grant Don't sell yours though. It has sentimental value. So what if it clashes a little with wardrobe? Going against the norm sometimes is a good thing.
Really enjoying your videos. Great watch! I had the black dial which I loved but eventually sold to fund other watch purchases. The black or silver would certainly be more versatile if you could get past the aged lume. I sold it after purchasing the new seamster 300 heritage which has same color/design hour markers and couldn’t see keeping both. If it helps with your decision I do regret selling it because that brushed dial was extremely unique and really did play with the light. I also miss everything being brushed on the case and bracelet and hands. It was a great daily beater for me. Like you mentioned the bracelet was good looking and comfortable but I hated the clasp and lack of micro adjust. With 3 new watches this year something had to go! Keep up the great work and good luck with your channel!
Nice review Elizabeth and you really want to keep this excellent timepiece! Put in on a more versatile strap and you're good. Maybe a nice sailcloth (Artem?) or a saffiano, maybe a bracelet like a Forstner Komfit, and it will make all the difference. Enjoy!
I have a bunch of leather straps in all different colors for different outfits and to keep things fresh. Jack Foster is an American company that makes them custom for you, Im getting another one that arrives today for my Black Bay bronze, for which Tudor has NO options. The aftermarket strap community will open up tons of options for your Railmaster. Thanks for another great vid, cheers!
