As of this November, James Bond has returned to theaters in "Spectre." For that matter, 20-year Bond companion Omega returns alongside agent 007 with the Omega Seamaster Spectre Limited Edition. 41mm in stainless steel, this historically-inspired Seamaster 300 is a limited edition of 7,007 that recalls the heyday of Sean Connery while starring in the era of Daniel Craig.
In fact, the Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre may be the first James Bond limited edition from Omega that actually knows how to stay "undercover." The total lack of overt co-branding is a huge credit to Omega's marketing and design teams, and this discretion preserves the design's core appeal for the general sports watch enthusiast. While Bond is fun, not everyone wants to provide free advertising on his wrist. The Seamaster 300 Spectre ensures Bond stays incognito until called to action...
A classical 1957 Seamaster Professional dial greets the fortunate owner, and the Spectre limited edition offers subtle cues to differentiate it from the standard Seamaster 300. This bezel swaps the standard 0-60 calibration for a 1-0 scale; the Arabic 12 is replaced with a large triangular index and an enlarged Omega marquee; the seconds hand swaps its standard triangular index for the less common but historically accurate "lollipop" style.
The remainder of the dial features the key elements that define the Omega Seamaster 300 in general production. The ghost of the vintage CK2913 asserts itself in force. The triangular indices with simulated radium patina, the clean matte black dial base, and the dauphine/broad arrow hand combination completes the effect. Significantly, Omega has chosen to place the luminescent pain in triangular hollows that add depth and even evoke the "sandwich" dial construction best-known for its ubiquity in the Panerai family.
An Omega Master Co-Axial caliber 8400 provides precise timing, automatic winding, and a robust 60-hour power reserve. The COSC-certified Swiss Chronometer features all of Omega/ETA's latest innovations; free spring balance, full balance bridge, amangnetic Si14 hairspring and balance wheel; dual mainspring barrels; exclusive Arabesque cotes de Geneve and black oxidized screws.
James Bond only visits theaters every two years, at the most. But the hardcore 007 and Omega enthusiast can enjoy the Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre Limited Edition every day. See it in high-resolution images on www.thewatchbox.com.

Regarding when you were trying to show the case back, it only takes three seconds to remove a NATO strap and there is absolutely no way you could scratch the case, unlike removing a metal bracelet or leather strap.

+Loftty OG The main reason I was in a bit of a hurry was that we had a client in the office waiting to see the watch as I filmed. He showed up as I started the video, and I just wanted to ensure I got the shot without forcing him or my sales team to wait longer than necessary. It was a unique situation. Cool pug photo, by the way. Best, Tim

+prince of beirut I feel like Omega finally has a no-compromise answer to the Rolex 114060 "No Date" Submariner. This Seamaster 300 looks every inch the business. The design team didn't put a line wrong. As for Bond's brand or model of choice, that's *way* above my pay grade ;-) Best, Tim

do you prefer wearing on nato strap or metal bracelet? also do you prefer the original 300 or Spectre limited? if so why?
@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+VIL388 My preference on a modern watch is to wear the bracelet. Having worn the original Seamaster 300M for a decade on a bracelet, the value of a modern watch on a bracelet seems self-evident to me. Omega's NATO is of extraordinary quality, so I can't compare it to the chafing, fraying, and rapidly-degrading aftermarket options that are ubiquitous in the hobby. But even compared to Omega's NATO, Omega's modern Seamaster bracelets offer greater comfort, durability, and aesthetic longevity. This is my Omega Seamaster-specific answer, because my primary interest is in other types of watches from other brands, and I wear all of them on straps (but no NATOs). Of the two principal Omega Seamaster 300 models - standard and Spectre - I strongly prefer the Spectre for its detail distinctions and awesome accessory kit. Granted, the latter is not intrinsic to the watch itself, but the small aesthetic revisions to the basic 300 - especially the "lollipop" seconds hand from the ancient Seamaster Professional 2913/7 - win my vote for coolest look. Best, Tim

What do you think of the luminescence. To me it doesn't seem as bright as my Rolex sub pre ceramic or my Brietling Colt automatic. Is it just the nature of this blue/green luminescence?
@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+Adnan Shariff Indeed, the luminescence of the Seamaster 300 is less intense than the pure dive watches that you own. The vintage-style lume is cheerful and charming, but it cannot compare to the brightness of the natural green/blue variants of Super LumiNova. Here's a good chart that illustrates the spectrum of LumiNova (strontium aluminate) variants and their intensity. Sorry about the monster URL: www.google.com/search?q=super+luminova+brightness+chart&biw=1240&bih=623&tbm=isch&imgil=XuhwOrcHRuvePM%253A%253BgKkBMLTAFf4hpM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fforums.watchuseek.com%25252Ff133%25252Frequest-lume-relative-brightness-chart-149649.html&source=iu&pf=m&fir=XuhwOrcHRuvePM%253A%252CgKkBMLTAFf4hpM%252C_&usg=__IdwB21GAssMUCw5HW_fVL6x2pII%3D&ved=0CCYQyjdqFQoTCNjAofiwmMkCFQUzJgodxiIN7A&ei=gJlLVtiAPIXmmAHGxbTgDg#imgdii=XuhwOrcHRuvePM%3A%3BXuhwOrcHRuvePM%3A%3BggMPd-n4bAwJgM%3A&imgrc=XuhwOrcHRuvePM%3A&usg=__IdwB21GAssMUCw5HW_fVL6x2pII%3D Best, Tim

+Austin M Hi Austin, welcome to our channel. Even among collectible watches (and this definitely qualifies), it's probably best not to view the pieces as investments in the traditional sense. While watches will not depreciate indefinitely the way luxury cars will, almost all watches will depreciate to some degree, and very few actually gain value. For that reason, I'd encourage the owner of this watch to enjoy it on the high-grade NATO that comes in the box and simply purchase a new one from Omega in a few years if he really wants a 1-for-1 replacement. This strap feels great, looks great, and should be part of the experience of enjoying the watch. But the great thing about collecting is that each of us can make the choice that leads to maximum personal satisfaction. Saving the original strap isn't a bad idea at all. Best, Tim

Love your videos, Tim. Your video from earlier this year convinced me to purchase the 42mm Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 2500 Calibre. How do you think that watch compares to this one? Considering that watch was a modern take on the original Seamaster 300 series as well? :)
@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+Martin Neumann Hi Martin, congrats on your 42mm SMPO! I think that watch is a more wearable daily companion, and the date feature is one I wouldn't want to be without. Both are great sports watches, but think the SM 300 leans more on its vintage roots and the Planet Ocean has a more modern wrist presence. Even in the 42mm size, the Planet Ocean reads as a larger watch that strikes a more even balance between retro and contemporary style. And on the SPECTRE, the bezel moves bi-directionally which would irk me since I often use feature that to time my meetings. Both are great, but I can definitely see myself wearing an SMPO 42, less so the SM 300. Wear your SMPO in great health in 2016! Best, Tim

hello! what do you think about a Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL? the one with no complications, date only. it would be my first "real" watch. thanks for answer!
@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+Oscar Dominguez Hi Oscar, that's a solid choice. The movement is highly serviceable, accurate, and durable. Chopard is a reputable constructor with a solid fan community online, and the Mille Miglia probably represents Chopard's best known model line. The only consideration to keep in mind is that when purchased new, the Mille Miglia models depreciate as heavily as all Chopards (estimate resale at 40-45% of MSRP when sold wholesale to a commercial watch purchaser or 60% of MSRP if resold in a private sale). Consider purchasing one pre-owned with a full accessory set to avoid that depreciation hit if you're planning to move from that watch to another model or brand in time. Best, Tim

"I don't care if you're at a particle collider at Cern" Hahahah!! Can I ask you one thing? I know you can't get into every inch of detail on the timepiece, but I was curious how the bi-directional bezel worked. Is the tool purpose for keeping track of the passing of the hours? Obviously it's not for keeping track of minutes like in a dive. Cheers again, Tim!
@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+Erik Dahlgren Hi Eric, sorry for my delayed response- busy week! The bidirectional dive bezel was the rule for most professional dive watches during the 1950s, the era referenced by this Speedmaster 300. Of the many, many dive watches that debuted during this time, I believe that only the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms of 1953 was designed from its first iteration with a unidirectional bezel. The ISO 6425 standard that defines a modern diver's watch has existed only since 1996. Since this Omega is designed more as an historic tribute than a hardcore dive tool, the bidirectional bezel was deemed more historically accurate than the modern unidirectional variant. By ISO 6425 criteria, the lack of a unidirectional bezel - and a luminescent index on the bezel - means this Seamaster 300M technically *isn't* a dive watch. Rather, it's an historic tribute model and general-purpose sports watch with excellent water resistance. Best, Tim

hello, would like to ask if it is the same as the SM300 master co-axial model? does a nato strap in 20mm work with the SM300 master co axial?
@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+Viewvic Hi Viewvic, welcome to our channel! From a mechanical standpoint, the SM300 Spectre is the same as the SM300 Master Co-Ax. The styling distinctions relate to dial details, the seconds hand, and the calibration of the bezel. The one functional difference between the two editions is the bi-directional bezel action of the more historically-themed Spectre; the standard SM300 features a unidirectional dive bezel calibrated 0-60. Regarding the lug spacing, any 20m NATO should work, but Omega's factory accessory strap is guaranteed to work on either the standard or Spectre editions. Best, Tim

+watchuwantinc my grandad recently died in a car accident wearing this watch. I've been given the watch by my grandmother as an inheritance but unfortunately the strap and the plate on the back are missing from the watch as a result of the accident. Where would I go to repair this watch as I'd really like to wear it? I'm surprised how durable it has been since the main watch (apart from the back plate) is in very good condition. Any help will be appreciated thank you.

Hi, I'm so sorry about your grandad passing away from a car accident. The watch must serve as a sentimental piece for you. Hold on to it! The best thing I can advice you is to contact Omega directly to replace the plate. As for the strap, Omega can either sell you a new 007 edition strap for a price of $300 or find one on eBay at a cheaper price. I got into a really bad car accident in February while wearing this watch. Luckily, I walked away with only minor injury but my car was a totaled loss. I don't know if the watch is a bad omen :-/

@the1916company
@the1916company 8 лет назад
+Michael Esposito Hi Michael, welcome to our channel, and thank you! To be honest, 99% of sports watches will never suffer a hard strike at the crown. The position of the hand in relation to the crown makes this unlikely enough, but evidence in our watch repair department indicates that the real life danger zones include places like the crystal, bezel, lugs, clasp, and - oddly - the case back. I've only seen crown damage resulting from unsecured crowns being struck and crown stems being bent due to winding attempts while the watch is on the wrist. Regarding the length of the videos, I agree wholeheartedly. But I have many jobs at WuW, and video is only one of them. I have to improvise and ad-lib these things, and to paraphrase a wiser man than I, "I had planned to write a shorter letter, but I was in a hurry..." Best, Tim

Pre-torn jeans and hipsters driving woody Wagoneers with unused surfboards on the roof give me the same vibe; inauthentic, and trying too hard. The Seamaster 300 is an otherwise great watch that shouldn't resort to gimmicks when it has so much working in its favor. Best, Tim
