Wore my Omega Speedmaster (Hesalite crystal) on a NATO strap to work today. Now I'm heading out for the evening and I switched over to my Seamaster 41 (blue dial) from the version just before they went back to the wave dial. Tomorrow I'll probably wear my Seamaster Aqua Terra. Couldn't decide, so I got all three.
The first fancy watch I ever bought was a Tissot PR100 chronoalarm about 25 odd years back. It was a gift to myself on getting my first proper job! It's still going strong today!
Hi. I am Kirill from Moscow. Thanks for your video, I love it. Today I wear the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Limted Edition Mokarran watch, there are only 50 of them and I was lucky to have one. On a sunny summer day, their green dial looks amazing and is one of the favorite watches in my collection. Choosing between Speedmaster and Seamaster, I would take both😁
Been on the fence between these for a few months now. It will be the Seamaster as it is more fun, modern, easy to read and more suitable for day-to-day use. That being said, the Speedy will be acquired at a later date - It's a moonwatch - its awesome. Thanks for the fun Vid! Cheers. Today's watch Grand Seiko Autumn Soko (black)
Same thoughts, Steve. I originally wanted the speedy but falling for the seamaster rather quickly, I’ll get a speedy at some point, it’s one of my three watch collection.
@@JP-xt3gp Please get it on bracelet. I regret I didn't and now I'm trying to source one used bc I don't wanna pay 800€ for it. And for what it is, it seems very good.
@@mexxxxximum i’m torn as lots of people have advised me to buy it in the bracelet however i’m not a metal bracelet watch kind of guy.. and also i think the omega factory rubber strap is amazing
I went for the Seamaster back in 2017. Couldn’t be happier! That being said, I’m just not a Speedmaster or a chronograph person in general. Plus I like having a date function as well.
Love both....I use my Speedmasters' sweep hand for the date. After daily wind, just move sweep hand to next day. It is also much easier to see date than on any other watch.
I've got both 🤷♂️ white dial Seamaster and the new sapphire sandwich both on bracelet. Totally different watches so a place for both in the collection
A few weeks ago I was after a Speedmaster (cos: wear with anything, history, Chronograph.) - However I tried on a Seamaster in the Omega shop and was hooked (cos: industrial design, legibility, wear with anything.) - I went for a Tokyo one with the white dial and blue details. Both Speedmaster and Seamaster are great choices and I do have some Speedy vibes with my Moonswatches… I’m loving all things Omega at the moment (eyeing up Aqua Terra normal and worldtimer!)
I always thought I liked the speedy more. Tried both on and felt like the Seamaster was better for daily wear. I actually loved the rubber strap for a more casual vibe. IMO…. If you don’t have an automatic watch, get the Seamaster. If you’ve started a collection and want a mechanical, get the Speedy.
I went back and forth but ultimately chose the SMP300 black dial. It’s just more versatile, IMO. It’s my daily and so far, bulletproof. Also pops a bit more than the speedy without being gaudy. Again, IMO. Great video.
Very good video, I went for the Seamaster 300 black dial on steel bracelet, and complemented it with the Rolex Datejust 41 blue dial oyster, I really thought that would be the end of wanting to purchase another watch, after this video, I'm revisiting the idea of a Speedmaster or a Cartier Santos Large, white dial, never gave watches much thought, I always asked, why would you need more than one watch, now a sit here writing this, considering a third and maybe a fourth, this is dangerous ground, my wife will have something to say about this if it ever materializes 😁, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
My choice in 2021 was Seamaster, classic blue, with steel bracelet. My first serious watch, Im completely happy. Also been in a trip across Atlantic ocean with these watches on already:)
I really like the Tissot Le Locle. Was my first super nice watch to me watch. I also arduously labored over the decisions of seamaster vs Speedmaster. In the end I decided Speedmaster for its iconic looks, and ability to change looks constantly with new straps! Strap monsters, assemble!
I really like the Tissot PRX for the integrated bracelet. With the Omegas, I have the speedy and love it, it’s really versatile as can be dressed up with a strap. Obviously if I could I would have both though 😄
I'm watching yours yet another great review while wearing my Moonwatch Hesalite on steel bracelet. Back to the review.....both of these are great, it's only matter of personal preference. Someone likes more dressy watches, while some like sports watches. One can't go wrong with either of these. P.S. Actually, Omega states that Hesalite Moonwatch is 13,58 mm thick, while SMP is 13,60 mm. So it means they have almost the same thickness....a split hear of difference;)
Speedmaster just has that sporty classic vibe its a must have watch. Since i got it I haven't worn anything else, it goes with every outfit and i feel great wearing it, also it does not grab to much attention, but when first people notice it they stare at it. Also it's a strap beast, goes with any colour style.
Both incredible watches. I have a speedy, the new bracelet is incredible. I think for me it depends on your tastes overall. But the speedy on the bracelet is your only option for me. Seamaster more versatile. Both are incredible!
I bought the new bracelet for my previous generation speedy recently and it has made the watch multiple times better. I would recommend all owners of the previous gen watch to do the same.
My all time favorite Tissot heritage banana watch with black dial . when I saw that watch first Time was year 2000 and I fallen in love with it, at that time I use to wear swatch irony I was a school going boy back then.😊
2021 i wanted a Speedmaster but the saleswoman from Omega convinced me to buy the SMP300 because it is a better daily watch. I still love it. It feels and looks amazing and unique but not everyones taste for sure.
My choice back in 2020 was the Seamaster first. Fast forward 2022, I finally got my Speedmaster. And it was the 3572.50 hesalite sapphire sandwich. No regrets.
Great video as always😁 Planning on buying the SMP 300 in black and putting on the Omega nato as you have in this video on the wrist. (if that is the Omega Nato or some other brand?) Would love that Tissot pack. My favorite Tissot is the T038430A, that my grandfather left me when he passed away. My current favorite that i am planning on buying is the PRX 80 Green dial.😊
They're both gorgeous, iconic watches. Personally, I chose the Seamaster because I have zero use for a chronograph, and the extra complications get in the way of my sole intended use: tell the time. Also, the lug curves in the Seamaster are simply at another level!
great vid and comparison! both great watches for different reasons - however just a couple of observations - hesalite glass wont shatter into sharp pieces of glass - it wasnt anything to do with piercing holes in the suits but the astronauts didnt want the risk of breathing in/swallowing sharp glass floating around the cockpit in the event the crystal shattered. Also - actually, a seamaster COULD go to the moon in exactly the same way the speedmaster did, it just didnt! 😋😋😘😘
Really enjoyed your video and comparison. I decided on the white dial Seamaster which I should be picking up tomorrow - I love both styles but the wave dial and the look as well as the automatic movement sealed it for me. I have a lot of micro brands and black dial watches so the white should be great to add.
I was also torn between these two watches recently and ultimately took the plunge and chose the speedy 3861 sapphire as i already own a breitling avenger 43 diver. Both the seamaster & speedmaster are awsome but the pictures and videos don't do the speedy justice its stunning in person and wears better than any watch ive ever had or tried on. Timeless.
I'm conflicted with this one. I have no need for a chronograph and every need for a waterproof watch yet I prefer the look of the Speedmaster 🤷♂️ Today I am working and have my work watch on, a little Seiko SNK809.
My grail watch will be the Omega Speedmaster with the Moon phase complication. This might sound weird, but I will probably buy the Seamaster, but prefer the Speedmaster as gift.
simple Answer - buy both, get a hesalite speedy, but also buy some polywatch to polish out thos little love marks on the speedy. Wearing a Bremont MBII today, because I;m gardening and it's indestructible...
I did not watch the video yet , but i saw the start ... Let me tell you my side , since i think it is very relevant . I went into the AD for the Moonwatch , about 1y ago . Tried it on , and tried it on . Really love that watch but i couldn't see myself wearing it . Going to the steel model and the brace , back and forth ... and no even how much i wanted to , i really couldn't see it . Then i tried the black SMP with bracelet , and from 1st second i said to AD : ok this is it . I really really like this one . BTW i want to the blue 1 st , but ok . Anyway , a watch needs to be on a wrist ... and on your wrist to be precise. The Moonwatch is a great watch , love it very very much and i want to go to the shop again to test it and maybe buy it , but sometimes it just isn't the watch for you . It is like a model , they can show great on camera , but living with them is a different story , even if you like them a lot .
You are comparing apples with oranges. Both are fantastic timepieces with their own heritage and proven functionality and appeal. Let's face it, no one dives to 300 metres and certainly very few of us need a hesalite crystal to protect our space suits.. lol, The speedy is more elegant and I love it, but I'm just not a manual-wind fan when I rotate a number of automatic watches in my collection and use watch winders. The SM300 is a favourite piece of mine, great movement albeit a bit bling on certain occasions. I'm wearing my 2002 steel 16610 Rolex Sub date today.
Cant really compare, both different watches with different functions and different history. All I can say is get both 🤣 ... but for the safer easy bet go for the Seamaster fully waterproof and dont need to wind it everyday, has date function which is probably the best function in todays use and still look great with a suit like James Bond 😉 and dont need to care for the scratch on the sapphire crystal unless you get the speedmaster with the sapphire crystal? Overall both watches are amazing to own, both have history in its own right and wont lose too much value winner winner chicken dinner!!! 🤣 (Just to mention I have the FOIS) just waiting for my seamaster 300 great white) 🤣🤣🤣
Speedmaster for me….just that bit more wearable. On my wrist? IWC Portofino Chrono in green purchased from Chisholm Hunter this week. Amazing timepiece
Currently wearing a Tudor 79220R :) Regarding the Speedy vs. Seamaster, I own the Seamaster and just ordered the Speedy hesalite that should be coming mid next month. I own a few watches but I'm under the impression that the Speedy will probably become my everyday watch, even though so far there's no watch in my collection that I wear more than any other. I got the bracelet version but this sailcloth strap with the deployant clasp looks stunning too. I might swing by Omega soon to order it too 😅 Just one tiny thing that I think will bother me about the Speedy, it's the water resistance. I live in a hot country and I go to the beach very often and I love to wear a watch when I swim. I just hope that the 50m water resistance on the hesalite is real... Because I intend to wear it in all contexts.
I’m not submerging a speedmaster. Period. Good lord just take 30 seconds to switch to a true dive watch if you can’t get In The water without a watch. Don’t go swimming in any watch that’s under 100m rated. Please.
@@italianstallion3130 How would you interpret Aquaterra 150m? I'm undecided between 300 divers and AT, so I like to enter the sea with a clock, of course, I don't swim very deep
@@ibrahimt7703 I think it’s fine in the water- I also was torn between the two and leaned towards a blue AT- but once in person I couldn’t get past the black dial 300m and ultimately got that- don’t regret it.
Tough call. I like the gentleman, but i will be getting the Tissot Powermatic 80 with the green dial soon. I think it is an amazing watch for the price, but in looks with the dial and bracelet and the technology in the Powermatic 80 movement. I would use the tissot merch :D
I was teetering back and forth on this one; but once you pointed out the "Date O Clock" feature it had to be the Seamaster. On wrist today is my black PVD Glycine combat sub on a black Artem sailcloth strap. Cheers!
I had both in my hand, I chose the Seamaster. This was in 2014, it’s been bulletproof. I recently sent it back to omega for a service as it was running slow. They said it just needed lubing and regulating and refunded me the service! Not bad for a nearly 9 year old watch. I’ve been lusting after a chrono and managed to snag a Tudor panda from local goldsmiths! Must’ve charmed them 😂
My wife and me decided us for exactly that seamaster that you show here. Normally i would have decided for the speedmaster, but my wife as a real snoopy fan told me, that there can be only one then (white and blue one). And so, we have to save up a lot of money now. :) Thx for the video.
Hello Hunter, great review as always. I do own the speedy in sapphire/ open case beautiful piece and love it. I want to buy a Seamaster but no idea which one: the white dial/ Panda or the Black you are reviewing? Which one would you buy?
@@ibrahimt7703 I get more compliments with the AT World Timer, it does however take up more real estate on the wrist but is not uncomfortable. The jubilee bracelet on my SMP is sometimes uncomfortable.
Love the Speedy, also love the Bond SMP. Well that didn't answer anything. Can I throw the Green Dial PRX in the mix. (does that count for the giveaway as well?)
The Speedy wears small because it's case is asymmetrical. It's actually a 40mm watch in terms of its dial and bezel; the crown and pusher guards add 2mm to one side.
Great video!!!. On the wrist I’m sporting the Seiko alpinist sbdc137 (I’ve chosen this model because it finishes with 37 and that is my wedding anniversary) Now talking about this 2 omegas I’m buying them both for my 2 boys, one each of course but now the hard question is which should I give to whom??? They are both swimmers so is a tough question.
Keep looking at the Seamaster in Black exactly the same as being shown, but still torn. I currently own a Bremont Broadsword & was tempted with another Bremont, but want to own another brand so the seamaster is winning so far.
I'm wearing Longines Hydroconquest 41mm, black dial with silicone strap. Excellent daily watch. Accuracy is fantastic from L888.5 movement with Silicium.
Hey , I have a doubt Harrison , plz clear it out for me , I m looking forward to buy the omega seamaster 300 but the strap was a lil big for me , is there any alternative for that ? Extra punching or new strap bcz I really want to buy this watch
Great vid. However - why can't the Seamaster go 400km into the sky exactly? And to the point that you never dived 50m below water level, the specification 300m and 50m doesn't necessarily mean that - watches labeled with 50m water resistance mean that they can get splashed etc, but shouldn't be used for swimming or water action even on the surface water level. Its a label of what sort of pressure they withstand. Diving in the pool, even if its 2m deep will exert a lot more pressure to the watch once it hits the water level. Comparing watch water resistance to the depth of which you might dive for a casual person and not a professional diver is pretty pointless.
As Tissot goes I think I’m with most other people saying the PRX. For me it’s the 35mm quartz in gold. Instantly makes me thing “Las Vegas” I’d have a very hard time saying no to the white dial Seamaster. I’m not usually one for white dials, but that one just does something for me.
