I replaced my Sea Dwellet with the new POC cal. 9900 as I use it’s secondary timer chronograph a lot now on dives for all kinds of activities from launch times to battery/engine run times for my equipment. Being able to dual time with a dive bezel is incredible convenient. It’s a amazing dive watch and is really “next level” to all the competition.
Fantastic! I would never have known that the Minute/Hour Circular Display (right side) could be used as a 'Dual Time Zone' if you start the stop watch in your desired time zone at 12.00. Superb - this watch has it all: - Automatic - Co-Axial 'completely in-house' Mechanical Movement - Chronograph - Bezel - Dual Time Zone - Display Case Back - Double-sided anti-reflective coating - Helium Escape Valve Rolex - you can stick the 'Deep Sea' where the sun doesn't shine ;)
Very nice! Just curious, would anyone wear a watch like this to dive? Both my arms are already fully occupied by the dive computer, back up dive computer, depth gauge, back up depth gauge, compass, slates & etc. What is the issue with hellium gas in the watch? Hellium is an inert gas and it's harmless to the internal mechanical parts. I rather have hellium than to have moist air in my watch! Anyway, still a very cool watch! Love it!
Actually I do. I use it as a secondary timer on long dives and a primary on short dives. I also replaced my Sea Dwellet with the new POC as I use it’s secondary timer chronograph a lot now on dives for all kinds of activities from launch times to battery/engine run times for my equipment. Being able to dual time with a dive bezel is incredible convenient.
I used it (and other Swiss diver watches) on short recreational dives. The thing with the helium is that it will get into the watch and can very possibly crack the crystal during the ascend to surface. Has to do with helium causing some pressure imbalance that builds up inside the watch which varies with underwater depth or so I’ve heard. I’m pretty sure you can easily read about it online somewhere.
The difference is that the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean with caliber 9900 has 1.5 Tesla / 15,000 Gauß demagnetization and and is insensitive to everyday magnetism, such as the magnetic stripe of a credit card or a stove with a seran field, and this means that the watch's accuracy is not impaired or permanently damaged by everyday magnetic fields. The extension is pulled out or again by a pusher on the inside of the folding clasp pushed in. Here are the URL's of the two watches from the official OMEGA website. URL OMEGA SMPO 600 Meter/MASTR: www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-seamaster-planet-ocean-600m-co-axial-master-chronometer-chronograph-45-5-mm-21530465101002 URL: OMEGA SMPO 600 METER normal: www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-seamaster-planet-ocean-600m-co-axial-chronometer-chronograph-45-5-mm-23230465101001 I have the Omega SMPO 600 METER MASTER that you see in the first URL, there is the tension winding wheel made of silicon and therefore you are protected against magentism. I hope I could help you and stay healthy and happy. With kind regards Black
