The Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon "Vintage Black" was a 2015 release the Side of the Moon collection that was originally released at Baselworld in 2013.
The 44.25mm ceramic watch makes a statement on the wrist. Not only is it on the larger side, it is quite thick and not easily slid under a shirt cuff. Even with it's size, it is not heavy on the wrist.
This is the Vintage inspired variant of the Dark Side model, with it's black ceramic case and dial paired with brown leather strap and brown details on the dial.
The model channels the "what-if" of a watch, creating a vintage watch that never was. If you took the original Dark Side of the Moon back to 1967 and looked at it today, this would most likely be what it looks like.
Modern Omega watches typically feature dials and cases made in the same material. This stays true to this watch, the case, bezel and dial are all ceramic.
The simulated patina in the lume is still fully illuminated at night, including the Omega symbol on the crown.
The twin register chronograph layout is another homage to vintage models. You'll find the chronograph seconds at center with a mono counter at 3 o'clock.
Flipping the watch over and you'll find the in-house, Omega exclusive co-axial 9300 movement. It features a vertical clutch with column wheel. This smoothly starts the chronograph and allows you to run the chronograph seconds without wearing down the movement.
The watch boasts a 60-hour power reserve and is virtually scratch resistant. While it looks vintage, it is only simulated and it will continue to look good for many years to come.
