Nice. I have an HP Omen desktop that I've been really happy with. Not top of the line but it's done everything I need it to and has been really reliable.
@@drae I'll be damned! I don't think I remember you ever doing anything like that other than those sick light pads on your wall there... Well, I'm also waiting for your aquarium vlogs so this is a decent alternative I guess..
In mid-2020, I purchased the HP Omen with the i7-10750h. It's design is built with all aluminum and was released between mid-2019 to mid-2020. It seems that HP's design changes occur mid-year which means there is overlap of the same design with different generational CPU's/GPU's. I love my notebook including the touchpad with two distinct buttons. I loaded Red Dead Redemption 2 and was able to play it at 90% of Ultra settings with the 1660 ti built in. Still, gaming aside, it's color gamut is good at 144Hz and I know that I can load different types of software, be it CAD engineering, video and music editing, etc. At the end of the day, it's nice to have a backup to my desktop if my desktop should ever break/crash. That's peace of mine for me.
The funny thing is most of that laptop is built by MainGear, the same company HP partnered up with to developer the original HP Omen desktop, HP doesn’t really have much to do with the development of the Omen laptop or desktop PC. They just partnered up with a great company to build HP’s gaming computers. HP is really only in charge of the design of the computers.
Thanks Drae - I have an HP Omen desktop with all the bells and whistles and I love it! Was considering getting an Omen laptop too and your review really helps
Do you have any issues with your processor constantly getting over 90 degrees when playing hardware/CPU intensive games by any chance? I also have this laptop and mine is constantly thermal throttling when I play any intensive games :(
@@5000dragonkill i have this laptop with i5 8300 and 1050ti. I play witcher 3 on high locked 30fps 1080p , plus cs go 144fps locked . I replaced the thermal paste with arctic silver mx4 , i applied new heatpads - this before i even booted the laptop. I use a cooler with 5 fans , -150mv undervolt with intel.s own xtu , omen control centre on comfort profile (max fans) with 21c ambient, i never reach 79. Average cpu temp after 2 hours of cs go is 67 and gpu 61. Highest i have ever seen was 78 cpu and 66gpu in warframe ultra 100-140, fps 1600x900.
I have the 17inch Hp Omen, & its greeeat! im really quite a first timer & total novice when it comes to Gaming laptops, so this is my first, & after doing a little beginners research & reading reviews...its fair to say i feel I deffo made the right choice 😎👍🏼👌🏼
That's awesome they sponsored you for this! I prefer desktops more than a laptop. I think what I would want for a laptop is a good high resolution screen. It would mostly just be used for watching videos and maybe light work. I don't travel much, so gaming or editing wouldn't be too necessary for me.
My gf just got one and the only problem I see is that on the bottom there are fans that shoot out directly below and the little ridges that elevate it don't really allow that hot air to escape so I could see potential overheating happening there.
I have an Omen by HP 17-w102ng Laptop. It's been gaming some high end Games like Doom and such without any problems and it still runs perfectly fine after more than 3 years. It only had one year of guaranty but unexpectedly it still is running without any problems. And if some of your friends accidentally step on it (yes, that really happened) then you can get a replacement screen and the installing for around 80$.
This is my go to laptop, i have the 9th gen i7 and 1070maxQ8GB 32GBDDR4 144hrz, It runs everything I've thrown at it so far, but i dont get top tier FPS on ultra settings, but it works great.. I have it with every where, and it takes the abuse really great🤟 I got a great deal on it, bought in 2019 as a demo model, so absolutely worth it😊
Nice review. as properly one of your oldest subs (41 years) I have to say I look forward to your vids and I have enjoyed this one as per normal. people in my office say you look like a younger version of myself. that means your a dammed hansom chap!! lol
As someone that has had this laptop since May step 1 recommend downloading either throttlestop or the intel extreme tuning and turn off turbo boost in the CPU otherwise gonna habe lots of random throttle issues.
I have the 2017 HP Omen laptop, its really great, I love it, the only thing I would change is the port layout which they have changed, and it tends to get very warm, other than that it is amazing
I bought one not long ago, an Acer Nitro. Not the best thing, but the new model came out and Best Buy was trying to get rid of the old ones, so I got an awesome deal on it.
This is the laptop I have but the 2017 version. The ports are all on the sides, all the back ports on the left and two usb and power on right. The screen bezels are slightly larger. The keyboard has LEDs that are only red, non customizable.
I have the 2017 version, its a very nice laptop, very similar to the 2018. Trackpad buttons are a must have for me, I like the feel of them same for the keyboard. Good sound, I actually never have it abobe 40%, they are very loud for a laptop.
I hope to get next years model on this laptop and a few other things (a mic, a gaming mouse & a xb1 controller) so I can look at doing some Twitch and RU-vid content. Yes that is the dream......
Yo Drae, you ever gonna get a 1440p @60fps camera or upload games in that resolution/frame-rate? I'd love to see that extra crispiness when I watch your videos on my 4k tv and Laptop.
Looks neat, but I don't know much about PCs... All those numbers and what not... Is this thing good to play quality games? Can you run a triple A game with twitch, discord, youtube, whatever in the background? And while playing with good graphics?
OMG Drae. Mid-range? For me it's God tier lol. I5-6500, 860GTX, 12GB DDR 4, 1T hard, no SSD Lenovo Ideapad 510. Max battery life I got was 6h 10 min. When it was new 2 years ago it ran Starcraft 2 on Very High graphics and could support some Ultra High graphics. Only complain I had even with a cooler after 2 years of heated gaming it burn the keyboard contacts(I'm typing this on a hp keyboard lol). As for mouse I use a Roccat Kiro but that's irrelevant for the laptop
drae i trust you, i have 2k for a a new pc but im going im be moving around for the next few years, whats the durability in your opinion of this laptop and if this int the one you'd recommend then which?
