So, Jal is a band from Pakistan. But, Jal also means 'water'. The lyrics of the phrase literally translated to 'There's water everywhere ' but metamorphic implication is 'Jal is everywhere' highlighting their reach during their peak era. They became so big during their peak in south east Asia that the song celebrated the fact that this band finally 'arrived'. I'm from India but Jal had immense immense impact on entire Asia back in the day \m/

Aadat is an iconic song by band Jal, it is their first song and made them famous, it is still considered one of the best songs of all time. Gohar composed and wrotenit while theirnteam member and vocalist Arif sang it originally, he later left band to run solo and became one of the greatest vocalist of all time specially in Asia. In this video first half is Aadat song instrumental, and 2nd half is Jal band latest song. Please also react to Nescafe Basement Sweet Child O Mine cover, it has traditional instrumentals in it aswell and great vocals with vocalist debut appearance on mainstream show but he did great job. Also plz react to song called "Jilawatan" a rock song performance by band "Call" in Pespsi Battle of the Band another music show from Pakistan.

Loved your reaction bro! The non-western musical instruments that were showcased in this epic performance were Rabab, Sarangi and Sitar, you can now research more about them on internet. Pakistani music surely has the "under dog" status, when noticed, it creates ripples across the globe. You have to take a deep dive into this music, explore more of Coke Studio, Nescafe Basement, Pepsi Battle of the Bands. Hey so Im from Pakistan, ill try explaining a bit about what this all really means in a way it makes sense. So the song AADAT was sung by a band called JAL in the early 2000’s. JAL is or was a band in Pakistan and Goher Mumtaz was one of the band members of that time. Unfortunately the band later split but thats a whole different story. Now this song AADAT hits really hard to you. Me personally I don’t remember how old I was when I first heard it but this song was famous all over Pakistan and also in India since we speak kinda the same language. Urdu from pakistan Hindi from India is a bit similar to speak. You could also add Bangladesh in here too because a few of them also speak and understand our language. So anyways this song was famous all over the desi community, Desi(Pak/Ind/Ban). Back then when we were kids we probably didn’t really understand the lyrics but the song was like injected in our veins in our blood. Its as if this song is the national anthem of Desi community. Ask any Pakistani, Indian and Bengali ( a few ) about this song and they’ll just tell you what a masterpiece it is. You cant hear it without even getting teary. You can’t hear it without singing along. In the end of this version they made, Goher enters and sings saying “Everywhere is JAL” trying to say JAL is still alive basically. But yea I’m glad you reacted to such a masterpiece. I do wish you could listen to the original song so you could kinda relate and see what this Instrumental is all about.

This is an instrumental masterpiece based on an old song'Aadat' sung by Atif Aslam. The man behind it is Zulfi who you see witt the headsets on behind the keyboards at closer to the end of the vid.. He's also behind Coke Studio season 14. That itself is a mssterful season. JAL means water

"Adaat" by Jal is one of my top songs from 90s and then this instrumental years later was cherry on top. I didn't stop listening it for days. Gohar wrote this song after he lost his first love. It's about missing her everyday and that it has become his habit to live like this hence the title Adaat

That incredible sounding instrument is called a Rabab (not to be confused with a Turkish Rebab) and it's from Afghanistan and yes it sounds incredible. The instrument they were playing with a bow is called a Sarangi.
