Why did I like this more than City of God?? I'm gonna make my family watch it tonight lol -Full reaction is on Patreon.com/Madvision ⭐ (Movie Included)
Just to put some context about "Our home" (It's actually called "Astral City: A Spiritual Journey"), Chico Xavier is a medium and he follows the religious vision of Allan Kardec. The movie is about some stories he collect from some souls that interacts with him. It also has a biographic movie of him.
I was born and live in Rio de Janeiro and this film demonstrates reality, there is nothing fictional there. BOPE is one of the most powerful special forces in the world.
here's a fun fact: Wagner Moura is Cap. Nascimento actor, "Nascimento" means "birth" and years later he is the voice of Death in Puss in Boots! Full circle. Also, your conjectures and the consequences are the basis for the second movie, and its amazing how the sequel makes the first even deeper, its an unique effect a perfect sequel that elevates the whole.
The Pope's connection with history is that, during his visit to Rio de Janeiro, he would stay at the residence of the archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, which is in a neighborhood surrounded by several favelas. And the presence of police in the area could cause clashes with local drug dealers.
I love your reacts! React to "O Auto da Compadecida. Is a film inspired by the work of Ariano Suassuna, which portrays another Brazilian reality, but focused on the northeast of the country, a place where the semi-arid region predominates.
@@Madvisionn This movie is too good, but also has a lot of cultural aspects that are hard to understand. I recommend you at least read at wikipedia about "Cangaço".
Brazil can be one of the most beautiful places in the world, but also one of the most dangerous ones. Thank god I grew up in the more calm and silent parts of this country. By the way, there's a second movie that's just as good. City of god, Elite Squad and Elite Squad 2 are the quintessential brazilian movies to watch, so... When you're ready, give it a go. You will not regret it
Incredible reaction, you look like a singer here in Brazil called Renato Russo 😂😂.I recommend another incredible Brazilian film, called "Carandiru" which is also based on real events.
José Padilha - Director Wagner Moura as- Captain Nascimento André Ramiro as- André Matias Maria Ribeiro - Susanne Caio Junqueira - Neto Sadly, he passed away on January 23, 2019 due to a car accident.
Yeap… totally agreed about the previous commentaries. It’s a shocking movie plot based 90% in a real scenario. But, that’s my POV. The perception of justice, fairness, who’s the good who’s the bad ones will be very particular considering each other’s own experiences. We can live in a fortress inside a luxury condo or in a very poor communities 0,01% vs a very large number of people and for those not so luck… police, militia and drug dealers are not really committed with their well-being. I won’t mention about the politicians or about the polarity of our country have handled cause it’s a global issue… Anyways, I’m glad that other foreign through your eyes can pickup a glance of how deep and complex the world is.
About the song "Police", this is the translate: They say it exists to help They say it exists to protect I know she can stop you I know she can arrest you Police for those in need Police for those who need police Police for those in need Police for those who need police They tell you to obey They tell you to respond They tell you to cooperate They tell you to respect Police for those in need Police for those who need police Police for those in need Police for those who need police Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt Gets hurt, gets hurt, gets hurt, gets hurt They say it exists to help They say it exists to protect I know she can stop you arrest you Police for those in need Police for those who need police Police for those in need Police for those who need police Police for those in need Police for those who need police Police for those in need Police for those who need police
I lived in Brazil for 30 years. Moved abroad and have to hear people saying how difficult life is in 1st world country. They have no idea what real poverty poverty is. They do not know what real though police is.
BOPE - Special Police Operations Battalion. This Brazilian squad specializes in counter-terrorism and trains with various special police forces from around the world, including SWAT, FBI and Rangers.
I was about 13/15 years old when I watched it, all the kids watched it in schools, it was a slap-in-the-face trend, it was cool today I see that it wasn't, but at the time there was an 18+ film that was even shown at my school and we didn't even see a problem! 😂😂😂😂
11:30 The ones they killed were armed trafficants, I mean, they were not "avarage students" (BOPE assumes if the person is armed in that position on a favela war zone, he made part of a criminal group... which is true)
Bela reação a esse classico Brasileiro... Dizem que este filme foi feito para mostrar a parte escura da policia... mas acabou enaltecendo... um tiro no pé do diretor
Yeaaaahhhhh pleeeeeease!!!! is an extremely popular film in Brazil, it would be very interesting to know your opinion because at the same time it is based on the most genuine forms of cultural manifestation - Brazilian cordel literature. I'm curious to know how much the film manages to communicate with foreign audiences. The english title it's something like "A Dog's Will"
For me, this is scarier than city of god because in this situation we find the people that we rely on to protect us acting like the people we need to be protected from
Exatamente mano.
In Brazil, marijuana is illegal, so if a police officer sees someone using a drug and does not arrest him, he is committing a crime of omission and can be held administratively liable for it.
"is the pope here" that was the best question anyone has ever done to this series. unfortunately the pope had no idea how many people had to die for his safety. that movie was based on real life experiences btw
A pior parte desse filme é saber que não é só um filme, esse filme é literalmente como se alguém tivesse gravado tudo oq acontece, é forte pra quem não é do Brasil mas isso é oque a gente vê na esquina de casa.
fun fact: this film's theme (tihuana-tropa de elite) was supposed to be about fuckboys taking every girl they can, but it was resignified by this movie
Here's really good and popular brazilian movies to watch: Meu Nome Não é Johnny O Homem que Copiava Estômago Bicho de Sete Cabeças Tim Maia Que Horas Ela Volta? Bacurau Carandiru Pixote Bingo
@@Madvisionn Meu Nome Não é Johnny is another true story about drugs. But this time it is a rich drug dealer. Carandiru is a collect of true stories made by the medic while working at prison. The actor "Rodrigo Santoro" was phenomenal. He also worked in international movies like Focus, 300 and Love Actually (british people love this one)
If you liked the first one, you need to watch the second (Elite Squad 2), it completes the cycle perfectly, and covers a good part of the problems that Rio and Brazil face with criminal organizations controlling the slums and the systematic corruption that happens from the top down and the bottom up
I saw your A24 poster on the wall and remembered. Actor Wagner Moura who plays Captain Nascimento, who was also Pablo Escobar in the Netflix series Narcos, will be in the A24 film "Civil War", a feature film scheduled for release on April 26, 2024 and starring Wagner Moura and Kirsten Dunst.
-Several things have to be taken into consideration when watching this film: -It is based on the book by the real Captain Nascimento who has another name. -BOPE is Rio de Janeiro's SWAT that deals with highly armed and trained Narco Guerrillas from the favelas who were initially trained in the 60s by leftist guerrillas trained in Cuba and who use the favela population as a shield to this day as the Red Command . -Unfortunately, Brazil is a poor country with a lot of corruption where the normal police are corrupt as you see in the film and BOPE is basically the police's police. -Brazil has 5 times more murders than the USA, which has 5 to 10 times more murders than Europe or Canada, the favelas of Rio de Janeiro are a war zone and this film shows that. -In the original version of the film, Mathias was supposed to be the hero and the main caracter of the film and Captain Nascimento was supposed to be the anti-hero/villain, the director and the main actor are left-wing and think like the college students shown in the film think, Focaut's view that criminals are victims of society taking revenge on her and she deserves this revenge, Ignoring that the Narcos of the red command are assassins who kill anyone who gets in their way and that the BOPE is a force opposing them with the same intensity. -However, when the film was going to be released, copies of it were leaked onto the internet and nobody liked it and the director changed the film to how it is, thinking that the public would see Captain Nascimento as a criminal. -But the public hates drug dealers and corrupt people, so the film wanted to denounce the extreme right, it turned Captain Nascimento into a Hero of the people and to this day the director and the Actor hate the film and never wanted to continue it because its effect is the opposite. -The next film, shows the militias that are corrupt police officers (extrem right), the drug dealers and corrupt politicians against the BOPE. -GREAT MOVIE BETTER THAN THE FIRST.
This movie is really heavy, and it's still unfortunatly realistic. It is fictional, but it was based in memories. I Just found your channel, so I don't know if you have seen City of God (Cidade de Deus), as well, already. If you didn't yet, I strongly recommend that, because it is a total masterpiece, and it is adapted from a real story.
This movie is a criticism of the authoritarian aspect of justice in brazil. The police and political abuse and violence against poor people. But, in the elite squad 2 this aspect is more obvious. The song on the party with andre is policia (police) by the brazilian pos punk band titãs (titans) is a song criticizing police abuse
@@lucasviniciusgoncalvescipr8002 many violence-guided fans would disagree, but I prefer the second too. (That said, City of God is way better than both as a movie - and definitely one of my favorites. The thing here is preference between Tropa 1 and Tropa 2, in deed.)
This film as well as its sequel are very controversial in my country. The initial idea is to criticize how the police act in the favelas, but unfortunately the right has adopted the image of Captain Nascimento as a hero. The film was heavily criticized, but it is still a good piece of art about everyday life in Rio de Janeiro.
