As a mother, I can understand this eerie way of behaving and grieving. It’s her way of saying no one will limit her time spent with her child, especially since he took his life so suddenly, unexpectedly and tragically that way. I feel she just wanted more time with him, more time to say goodbye and grieve on her terms…even after the fact of it all. Something she couldn’t do with her own father’s death, bc she didn’t have that control as a child.

In the south during Elvis’s parents time it was perfectly normal to have the body laid out in the home for a few days (the Wake) instead of a funeral home (which is big money). Remember Elvis’s parents were dirt poor. The basic Wake and funeral services were always held in the home. But not two months. The stink…

Death is something you never get beyond. My mother passed 7 years ago. I’ve cut off all friends and family and have not celebrated a single birthday or holiday since. Losing a spouse, a parent or a child is life altering. When you lose a parent you lose your sense of identity, your entire history and foundation and when you lose a child you lose all hope in your future. When we lost our mother it shook the foundation of our entire family. None of us have ever recovered. It’s been absolutely unbearable. I understand her grief. The deeper the love the more profound the loss. It’s like waking up to a nightmare everyday and life never seems quite real again.
@Sheryl777
@Sheryl777 21 час назад
To go to that extreme of it completely destroying someone's future life to where they can't ever again live anything close to a normal life afterwards ....I can't even understand that. I've lost every member of my original family at this point several years ago now, and although I loved and cared about each one of them and grieved them, it didn't totally destroy my whole life like what is being described here. I'm sorry, not trying to be unkind, but I just don't understand that kind of thing where it has to destroy someone's whole future life because a family member died. Yeah it's going to be very difficult for quite some time, but life goes on eventually. If things are that bad, I suggest counseling to help someone deal with it.

❤It's very sad indeed and what she did was basically what they used to do years ago ages ago and that was to have the body and the viewing in the home and when you have money like they do you know you can bring it to your home and have it there for as long as you want it was all very well executed by the funeral home and professionally done it wasn't like just a corpse lying around like people would imagine in their heads just like that but it is very very sad and it goes to show you how much it affected her and that's why her health failed so much and she left this planet way too young unfortunately just like her father may they all rest in peace❤

There was a time when this wasn't unusual.... people took their time, had visitations, laid out their bodies in the parlor and were ready when they were ready. She wasn't ready. Yes, an exceptionally long time. But, an exceptionally deep wound. She followed her own pacing. It's also worth mentioning that in cold climates, when the ground was frozen, people used to have to wait. A family member down the road in an ice house. I can imagine people standing at those icehouses, or asking to have time with their loved ones, long before the thaw....long before spring and softer ground. She set her own pacing. Did it her own way. Got her breath back. I will never judge another for how they grieve. My mother followed my brother shortly after his death. After his death, watching her, I knew I was out of my depths. That she was processing the loss of a 6 foot 4 man who she had once held in her womb. Lisa Marie did the best she could. She followed the rules, got that dry ice, and mourned and wailed and said goodbye as she needed to... whether anyone understood or not. Respect. 🕯️🙏🏽😥😔

There IS an old black and white Movie I seen when I was a child. The Family Members clean, dress the person. Put them in casket in living room while everyone comes by to talk to the person, hold their hand. ..in their own way of saying Good-Bye. The horse drawn carriage goes FIRST, everyone follows behind, band playing slowly, crying, humming gospels. When the horses go through the cemetery gates. . .everyone behind kicks up their heels with joy and band plays upbeat music and people sing up lifting gospel songs. At the grave the Minister talks. Everyone goes back to the house for lunch. One side of the room are people who speak badly about the dead and the other side are people speaking GOOD things the dead. The POOR children are sitting on the porch listening to both sides, knowing they will be humiliated by their classmates at School. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE OLD MOVIE WAS CALLED? I've been looking for it for years. It was on Turner Classic Movies years ago. NO MORE TCM channels [sad].

People have to grieve in their own way. Don't let's judge Lisa Marie. You couldn't wrap your head around it, Perez. It wasn't your horrific loss.

I can imagine she had attachment issues. This bizarre behaviour is common with people who struggle with lifelong bonding.They can’t feel or connect with people unless they are in physical contact with them

If you actually read the book, it was said his face was fine . He must have been shot from the side . Also he was on dry ice and was only delivered to the home after the funeral home prepared him for such circumstances.

It’s called embalming Perez, not preserved.
@graciecat5540
@graciecat5540 2 дня назад
In this case, I believe "preserved" would be the correct term as a cold room and dry ice were needed as well. Embalming alone wouldn't have been enough for such a prolonged period of time.

I get it. I have long said I hope we're long gone by the time any of our kids go, because idk what I'm going to do with their mother it would affect her that badly 😢

I was a tad shocked she held onto his body for so long. She must have been shattered beyond belief. Grief makes you do all kinds of things till it's done with you.💔

So many cultures practice lots of unique rituals with deceased relatives : ) - Look up Indonesian death custom for a taster. Years ago, we'd bring back family home for a while and they weren't even embalmed. If it can be done and it's helping those who are left drowning in grief and pain, then that's a positive 🙌 (if I can use the word Positive for death!) No one else has to do what Lisa did... it's all very unique and down to the individual/family. Some countries/people won't be fazed at all by what she did ❤️ It's a valid way of processing any death, let alone a traumatic death, where there was even less control for her 😞 For some, information and understanding about the human body after death will possibly help others know it's not disgusting, scary or anything to feel ashamed of. I always remember my dad saying he'll be "worm food" one day 😅 Thanks to him, when I was 12 and he left this realm, I was safe in the knowledge he was helping to add back to the earth 🌺🌿🥳

Americansto have the casket in the home. Pretty sure Elvis's casket was in Graceland for a few too.

I can totally understand why she did that. I don't think that it's entirely morbid the love and the loss of a child could make you want to keep him near to you in a protective way.😢❤ Some customs are that you keep your loved one in your home for three days after death and to keep a fire going for three days also. That sounds beautiful to me 🎉
