Guys! After getting a bunch of comments about it, it might be the primer and not the foundation. I will for sure try the EX1 again without the primer underneath to see if I have the same issues!! I will let you guys know!!

RawBeautyKristi I use a fan brush to apply my colourpop highlighters and it works really well for me! Hopefully that will work for you too :)

You should try primer on only one side of your face when you do first impressions with one🤗

Maybe try a brush as well? The foundation looked kind of oily at first in the bottle and it could not be mixing with the water from the sponge.

Kristi, I have the EX1 foundation and I like it, but there's a particular way it has to be applied: 1. less is more - one pump for the whole face looks good (more starts to look cakey) 2. this foundation doesn't like primers - apply without primer 3. It looks great applied with a flat top brush (for example from Sigma)

I do my makeup in the guest bathroom and my cat curls up in the sink while I do it and tries to play with everything I put on the counter. I usually end up handing her an old eyeshadow brush to play with. She warms my heart.

Exact same here. I lost my Dad and Grandmother last year and RU-vid was my escape and “therapy”. I was a casual RU-vid watcher before. But after that I dived into all my favorites videos as soon as they posted and old videos. Now I’m approaching the anniversaries and binging all the old videos really hard again. Use the old school sponge tip shadow applicators with the super shock shadows. They apply more like using your finger but you can get them more precise.

Have you tried hydrocolloid bandages? Great for pimples, covers them up and drains them (when blemish is open). Not exactly makeup-compatible, but great for night use/staying home. Just a tip that you’ve probably already received 😌😊

Elizabeth Greer I actually tried the flower sponge and I didn't like it.. 😢 I really wanted to because it is reasonably priced and so many youtubers love it.. But like you said , everyone loves different things. I haven't tried the fenty one yet. I am hoping to get a sample beforr buying it.

We all have those days where we our make up goals just aren’t happening and our skin looks cakey AF and we’re already running late and our eye brows look like they aren’t even in the same family. I’m a skin picker too... same problem, I don’t get pimples until I fuss with my face 😩 Mario badescu buffering lotion is an amazing spot treatment, especially for cystic under the surface type pimples.

I always thought of primers as more or less a layer of protection for skin from all the crap your putting on top and some also added benefits like moisture or kill redness. They seem pretty interchangeable to moisturizer tbh. I like them because I tend to get acne from make up and it helps for sure on that front but if your not naturally acne prone or not needing a layer of protection; moisturizer is cheaper.

Kristi, for your skin type, I would really recommend you use a beauty oil on your entire face, especially on the under-eyes. A great oil that is really great for skin but won't cause any breakouts is rose-hip oil. I think you could also use Marula oil too (acnegenic people can't always use it but for dry skin, it's great). Drunk Elephant has 1oz (30ml) for about $100 but The Ordinary has 1oz (30ml) for less than $10 and from the many reviews out there, is just as good as Drunk Elephant's. An oil like either would make your skin and makeup look like a million bucks (but for your skin, I think Marula or Jojoba would be the best). I don't think your skin agrees with primers at all. I think your skin is possibly so dry and dehydrated, that primers just sit on top of it and make your makeup look cakey and move around.

This is my first time watching one of your videos. I must say I freaking love you! I feel like you are related to me (trying not to be a creep). You are hilarious, down to earth, and honest! I've watched other Beauty RU-vidrs but haven't really went back to their channels because they're all pretty similar. I have never seen a Beauty RU-vidr who is quite like you. Loved your honesty. Also, I loved that you turned off the lights at the end and showed how it truly looks without all the lights. You gave us a true representation of the products. To prevent cakeyness, first I put on foundation with a stippling brush, then I go over it with a damp beauty blender, then if I need to, I take a paper towel and wrap it around a dry beauty blender and lightly press into my skin. It pulls up the excess and works every time.

You want to accommodate the bases of your primers to the bases of your foundations (water based foundation to water based primer) if you use an oil based primer w a water based foundation, it’s going to break up on your skin.

I totally understand your point and completely respect your opinion, but trust me, if you had oily skin, you'd know how much of a difference a primer makes! If I don't use a mattifying primer, my face gets oily within 1-2 hours, it's really frustrating :(

Personally even with dry skin I hate the way my foundation looks without a dewy primer or a blurring primer (skin texture hi) so it’s not as essential as for your skin type but it’s still a must have for me
