For some reason, all I could think about as I watched this was: "Dwight -- At 8 a.m. today, someone poisons the coffee. Do NOT drink the coffee. More instructions will follow. Cordially, Future Dwight."
I don't know why I'm just realizing that time travel is pretty solid critic bait and one of the few sci-fi subgenres they're willing to give any regard.
These 2 women are my fancast for a book I am currently reading called Luster. It's literally about a girl who is a side chick and moves in with her 40 something years old sugar-daddy and his wife. I love the relationship between the main character who is the side chick and his wife throughout the book.
Time loop shows are always a treat, just hope they don't waste too much screen time on 'solving the problem'. It's way more entertaining, when we get to explore everything the 'victim' gets up to in their various loops.
People talk about getting super hero fatigue in movies and TV. But what about Groundhog Day fatigue? Why did the subgenre get so popular all of a sudden in the past 10 years? Edit: For those of you wondering: 20 Time Loop Movies Inspired by Groundhog Day * Edge of Tomorrow (2014): A soldier relives the same day over and over again until he can defeat the alien invaders. * Happy Death Day (2017): A college student keeps dying on her birthday and reliving the same day. * Run Lola Run (1998): Lola has 20 minutes to get 100,000 marks to save her boyfriend's life, and she relives the same 20 minutes several times. * Palm Springs (2020): Two wedding guests trapped in a time loop at a destination wedding. * Boss Level (2021): A former special forces operative is stuck in a time loop, reliving the day of his death. * Before I Fall (2017): A popular high school student relives the day of her death until she learns the true meaning of life. * Source Code (2011): A soldier is sent back in time to prevent a terrorist attack on a train. * Triangle (2009): A group of friends get caught in a time loop on a yacht. * 12:01 PM (1990): A man relives the same day over and over again after being electrocuted. * The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (1983): A high school girl accidentally gains the ability to time travel. * Haunter (2010): A teenage girl relives the same day over and over again, trying to prevent a deadly event. * Premature (2014): A man relives the same day over and over again after prematurely ejaculating. * Repeaters (2010): A group of friends get stuck in a time loop after attending a party. * The Map of Tiny Perfect Things (2021): Two teenagers stuck in a time loop fall in love. * Infinite (2020): A man discovers he is part of a secret society of people who have lived and died multiple times. * The Deaths of Ian Stone (2021): A man relives the day of his death over and over again, trying to figure out who killed him. * The Infinite Man (2014): A man relives the same day over and over again, trying to figure out what is happening to him. * Arq (2016): A man and a woman get trapped in a time loop in their home. * The Last Day of Summer (2015): A group of friends get stuck in a time loop on the last day of summer. * Blood Punch (2013): A couple gets stuck in a time loop after a botched heist.
I think it represents a feeling many people have about living in today’s world. Not only is there a lot of Groundhog Day type stories, there’s also lots of multiverse stories with different timelines and realities.
there's also just vastly more media being produced every passing year with the proliferation of streaming platforms and the need to fill them with content
This is also a very specific subgenre of the time loop film. It's 'person stuck in time loop for so long they forgot how long it's been, until they meet a strangers who finds a solution for them'. Andy Samberg did this movie a few years ago, it was called Palm Springs.
Another stuck in a timeloop so long main character lost count, meets stranger who finds the solution to end loop film. Loved when Andy Samberg did it so this might be good
The real time traveler is that actor guy that I haven't seen since the 90s being in this film. The guy from "Kicking and Screaming"? Where has he been?
I’m reading these comments about how this movie concept is overdone. But I’m not sure how y’all know what the movie is about exactly based on this trailer. 🤨
So I just watched this again, having forgotten that I watched this 2 months ago (as of this writing) and since I last watched this, binge watched The Bear, with Ayo Edebiri, who was bloody excellent in that. So I really must watch this, although not sure where? Maybe future self will know? 🤔
So... we just diagnose people with black holes now?? Wouldn't a phenomena like that require idk.... ALL the attention in the entire world considering the possibility that if that if the husk around it breaks down it could expand and not just expire with the "host" of the hole? I mean... maybe?
Y’all ever wonder why we can’t have ourselves a good ol' western time travel flick, like *Back to the Future Part III*, but with a bit more *modern flair* instead of all that "fixin’ past lives" nonsense? Now imagine this: Henry Cavill-yes sir, the very one-dressed sharp as a tack, but not in your average cowboy getup. No, he’s struttin' around in a cowboy outfit by *Armani*! We’re talkin’ style *and* grit, folks. See, this ain’t your granddaddy’s Old West-it’s a Multiverse! Thanks to the MCU, we got ourselves a world where killin' doesn’t mess with the real one, so it’s all good! Henry’s rollin' into town with all the bells and whistles-modern weapons, tech, the whole shebang. And instead of those rusty ol’ six-shooters, he’s packin' heat like a space marine outta *Warhammer 40,000*. Now, here's the kicker: he makes pals with a scrappy kid, right? Invites him over to his cabin, and boom! Shows him a *PS5* with games like *Cyberpunk 2077*. You think the kid’s mind ain't blown? He’s never seen the likes of that-lights flashin’, controllers buzzin’! It’s better than any tumbleweed rollin’ across the desert, I’ll tell ya that much. Now, wouldn’t *that* be more fun to watch than some movie 'bout an old lady tryin’ to "fix her past life"? I mean, bless her heart, but I’d rather watch Henry Cavill blastin' through the wild west, dressed to the nines, than someone tryna rewrite history with regret and yoga! What y’all think?
When he asked what do you want? I literally thought she said “MORE GAYS”… and I thought wow! How extremely progressive of you, and then I thought, maybe it will be more like the Barbie movie. Who know, maybe there something there. Definitely less war….
I have watched it. Pretty chill movie but i could not get over how the black girl was talking with so many pauses "the "uh" and "ums"" once i noticed it i couldn't stop
