A BBC Omnibus Documentary on a year in the life of King's College Choir, first broadcast in 1993. Amongst the choristers featured are cellist Guy Johnston and current Master of the Music at Norwich Cathedral Ashley Grote.
Thank you very much for posting this! I saw it when I was a teenager and had it on VHS, which has long faded away. It’s fantastic to find it here and be able to watch again ❤
Fascinating. A few highlights: Nick Todd at 18:49 who now sings tenor with Alamire 32:54 a chorister's opinion on Judith Weir's commissions for the choir 39:46 Guy Johnston cello practice. His brother Magnus, now a violinist, at 48:23 41:27 Ashley Grote on being a probationer Dominic Gill the filmmaker at 48:00
Also my husband Marcus Body at 3:18 to 3:22 opening a letter from his parents. He now plays the jazz trumpet with The Spanner Big Band every Wednesday night in Highbury.
By the way, does anybody know which boy did sing the ‘Once in Royal’ at the Christmas thing? They didn’t say, and I’ve been wondering about it for more than 30 years :)
@@missasinenomine Exquisite indeed! I have always loved Beati, and treasure my recordings of it from Kings in 1974 under Sir David Willcocks and from St Paul's in 1989 under John Scott. It always brings great peace.
