Hello again. I stole your Tag-idea. Brilliant. When will you have a detailed video about your custom perspectives?

Currently in the works! Hopefully in the next week or two it will be wrapped up and up.

Thank you for going into all the details Kendra! I have been binge watching all your videos and can’t wait for the next few perspective ones. I have just set up the day tags as you have them, so going to test drive for the rest of the week! My biggest problem (or wish) for OF is to have a running total of the time for the items in a perspective. It would make allocating so much easier! I used to export into Excel and total up the times by day. How do you manage that for your weekly planning? I just started using Day Optimizer to help with allocating time, but like you said, it’s annoying to have to re-type your items in another system and you have invested all this time and effort into OF. Thanks!

OMG I so wish that also for the time total by perspective! I have kinda switched my mindset to think about everything in "pomodoro" blocks that kinda side steps an exact time. I've been playing around with a new way to do this in OF and almost have it solidified to do a video on it soon cause for me if I have a visual of this - 🍅 - I know that's a 30m chunk and the way I organize my day, I know pretty quickly if I've overloaded myself. My Time Blocking video is really similar, just using Notion instead of OF. I retype a lot of things into "blocks" rather than item by item, and then link back into OF for the details if that makes sense. So for work I handle credits and reissues, so if I say I have a block of credits and reissue time for 2 pomodoros, I know I'm planning to spend 1 hour of time on that, and then I have a OF perspective that I could use to give me the detail list. It is also nice cause I break everything up extremely granular (GTD style) so sometimes my today list is pretty overwhelming because of that, so the block view or batch view is really nice ☺️

@@kendrasproductivity848 Hi Kendra - I found this Automation Plug-In on the OF Discourse page which I thought you might find useful. It enables you to select multiple tasks or a tag and adds up all the estimated times. Hoping it will revolutionize my planning time. 😁 github.com/ksalzke/estimate-total-time-omnifocus-plugin

Hello, Kendra. Nice video. Just wondering how you plan when to do things with such a system. I'm an OF addictive 😀, but recently discovered how OmniPlan in sync with a calendar is a powerful tool. So now I try to plan out my whole week with timeslots for doing the things needed to be done. Do you put your work into a calendar? Or just go through your perspectives throughout the day?

Thank you! I am also an OF addict 🙋‍♀️😂 so I’m always tweaking how I ‘run my day’. I find it depends a lot on the type of work that I do what tool is best for that. In my calendar I time block out focus sessions of when to do work (the 9-5 job), personal, and family tasks. That’s pretty consistent. Then each day, when I go to do my work for let’s say personal tasks, I then reference my OF perspective for that area. Sometimes I have a big enough task I just time block that on the calendar, but usually my morning review let’s me review what OF is showing me and ensure I have the time budgeted. I have another video on time blocking and batching which goes more into that to. I haven’t played much with OmniPlan for anything like that though. Super interesting - would love to hear how you utilize that tool with this!

Hi Kendra. I’m enjoying your videos and your logic. What is is the {This Week} tag? Is it different than This Week?
@kendrasproductivity848
@kendrasproductivity848 3 года назад
So I use the {this week} tag for my repeating routines by day of the week. Everything in my system if I use ‘ { }’ it is something to do with repeating. For example every Thursday I clean the house so it’s tagged with {Thursday}. I don’t so much use the {this week} tag itself anymore (I use to) but is a nice heading to group the day of the week ones under!

This is so helpful but I'm a bit lost on building the perspective accurately. It's going to take some time...
