Further supporting this is the fact that, this isn't the ONLY instance of eerily similar clothing we see. Thanks to official art, we see aubrey doing this same thing too- in regards to mari. The headband she wears in-game is nigh identical to a hair tie that mari wears in one of the calendar drawings. Not to mention an ENTIRE OUTFIT she wears in art released for her birthday is, also, almost IDENTICAL to the one mari is seen wearing in one of the photo album pictures, just with a color change. (sound familiar?)
i kinda always thought the same thing but didn't think about until now how strange it is.. like it makes sense that basil would have it on since he's still actually in school, but has sunny just like. not changed his outfit or gotten new clothes in four years?? how do they still fit??

The point about girl Sunny wearing the same clothing as Mari; normal Sunny also changed his clothes after Mari died to be similar to Mari's, specifically the collared shirt. In the duet sequence, we see Mari wearing collared shirts a bunch and in most artwork of her, however Sunny is shown to just wear normal t-shirts, until after Mari dies in which he changes his shirt to be collared. So it just makes sense for genderbent Sunny to have even more similar clothes to Mari.
I like that difference, though I'm not really good at finding the meaning behind things I feel like their outfits showed their differences, mari having collared shirts being a formal perfect person, and sunny wearing t-shirts being more laidback
Considering RW Sunny and Basil's outfit is pretty much the same as DW Mari's, they might be a school uniform? The theory isn't foolproof, though, because Sunny wouldn't have gotten into high school before the accident, and there are no uniforms in the September calendar picture. Sunny *does* wear his RW clothes during recital practice, though...
@@azzurradurigon1945 doesn't look like recita clothing. especailly not with the pants. in the omori concert picture they all had proper clothing and sunny wearing a suit , mari had her recital dress. so this is likely uniform. but it makes no sense anyway (tho he is based on hikkikomori so maybe) since he wears the same clothes 24/7 for couple of years it seems. must smell so bad hahaha i mean he even goes to bed and wakes up with these...

ok so about Basil and Sunny wearing the same thing, I'm pretty sure it could be a school uniform of sorts. Kel doesn't wear it because he wears the basketball thing instead for his team, Aubrey doesn't wear it because I thinks she just doesn't go to school, Hero doesn't wear it because he doesn't go to that school anymore (he's in college) and maybe Sunny just never freaking changed out of the uniform/doesn't have anything else to wear? But I'm also pretty sure the events of OMORI take place during the summer when school is off, so maybe they just happen to wear the same thing for another reason idk
