Trolley buses do generally run on battery if there is no overhead wires. Hence they are better than the trams as they can detour around road blocks and also over take if needed.
I think those people are standing there because they can because how come a single decker bus can take 80 people unless in China, they are allowed to basically cram in everyone that can get on which looks to be the case. I am probably sort of weirdo, I know some of the routes especially in the UK maps and Hamburg and Berlin X10 maps without the map or route markers
