Thanks for this. Im in agreement with you on this. I just wish more people online would discern more carefully how they speak about these issues especially when it involves criticism of the PF.

Strickland said he didn't know what the sede part of the letter was about. I guess he wasn't forceful enough? We're called to interpret the Pope charitably, but also Bishops as their position is also royal and sacred by virtue of being successors to the apostles, and saying he cited that letter approvingly is misleading when a charitable interpretation of Strickland's words and actions would suggest otherwise. He just recently said "I thought it was important to share because of the confusion. I don’t want to accuse the Holy Father of anything, but the world is confused." and also " *The Petrine office is woven into the life of the Church* - sedevacantists and all of that, that’s ridiculous. I mean, we don’t need another Protestant Reformation. We need a stronger Catholic Church." I don't see what the problem is.

To clarify, I do agree Strickland's removal was a perfectly lawful act and not our place to going marching in the street about

I grant the point that the Pope isn't answerable in the way a liberal democratic politician would be. But I don't get the sense you really pay enough attention to the fact there is a profound crisis in the Church and the neomodernist problems are so diffused through Her in a way that it makes difficult to even look at this instance of + Strickland being deposed and think of it even in they way you're talking about. You're talking about traditional ecclesiology but seemingly leaving aside the fact neomodernist near heresy has completed permeated the Church for decades. So I agree with *and* disagree with you in aspects. It is getting harder and harder to take the "Padre Pio" option people like Lofton would have us do while the worldliness continues to increase. There is a profound sense of scandal to the point where people are leaving in droves to the Orthodox, etc. Meekness and humility are needed. So sometimes is firm action. Think St Catherine of Sienna. Probably at a local level rather than attacking directly the Pope (unless a directly evil command like St Thomas stipulates). I do believe Pope Francis has issued evil commands. Does saying so make me Martin Luther? It is all too easy to say so and that's what people on the "other side" routinely do when "we" feel like we are pointing out the obvious. Very frustrating.

As an inquirer, I see patterns of Catholicism taking a feminine approach and the Orthodox taking a masculine approach. I would guess these are later developments and that there was more balance in the past.

Bishop Strickland is not some innocent faithful bishop. He's directly attacked the magisterium and publicly accused the Pope of being an usurper (whether or not he's competent enough to realize that).

@@bobjenkins3rdWhen I almost became Orthodox, I talked to a few priests. One priest told me that I needed to be Baptized because all baptism outside of orthodoxy is invalid. Another priest told me that, since I was Baptized in the Anglican church (with water and in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) that it would be a rebellion against the Creed to be Baptized again. I then began emailing orthodox priests all over the place and it seemed like they were split 50/50 on this topic. I then knew immediately that orthodoxy cannot be the fullness of the Faith. They can't even agree on how to receive converts or what calendar we should be following, and any attempt to definitively answer these questions only ends with more arguments. I choose to remain loyal to the Bishop of Rome, the successor of St. Peter. This is the only way for the Church to truly be unified.

@@cheeseface6328thanks yeah I’ve spent too much time discerning and reading but I’m finally coming to land on Catholicism.

I sympathise but never forget we are thr opponents of revolution. The Pope is God's Vicar on Earth and as such we owe him loyalty to death as the Holy Father. Any misstep is death in the afterlife at least (Of course I must stress that this applies only so far as his authority goes. He is not Jesus Christ.).

I agree with certain things you say, and others I don't. But just a question..what are we to do if the Pope says no more hierarchy and that the Church is now a democracy, instead of a monarchy? Do we listen? Oh, but wait, he's the Pope..what he says, goes. +++

On matters of Doctrine? That will never happen. Pope Pius IX actually conceded a Parliament.
