Fantastic car, being driven at 75% of it's capability (understandably). Get that bloody steering wheel on straight ! Still, what an absolute treat to see and hear, on a track (that's just 1/2 an hour up the road from me) !!
That Driver needs more practice. Watching him drive, I saw him babying this car a few times. Understandable of course. A bit sluggish through the corners. Just my 2 cents. BUT, I do appreciate this video VERY MUCH. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank-You!
I agree with you to a certain extent. This is no Goodwood Revival, he's driving his own car and there's literally just 4 that ever existed. I'd go easy on it too tbh
Wait Detroit locker diff? I thought for a track you’d want limited slip differential for cornering right? Please anyone who knows about track racing inform me about how this works. Great video still and man that 427 sounds amazing.
I'm as FORD as you can get, and have been since 1962. On top of that, my whole life has been spent on FE powerplants, both in drag racing and truck pulling. That having been said I'm blown away ( embarrassed really) that I never knew FORD made 4 T-BOLTS for road racing. Am I in the minority on this issue. I'm going to pop quiz my buddies to get some sense of how stupid I really am. Feel free to let me know in this comment section as well, but be nice 😳😘
Bob, in all due honesty I'm far less knowledgeable about Fords than you are. Trust me when I say that seeing this car at the track, being raced here in New Zealand was absolutely incredible. Just as hard to fathom as when I was told the full story. Quiz your mates and tell us the outcome please! 🙏
You know he was taking it easy. Don't want to wreck that one. Imagine this car racing for all the beans back in its time. Still a competitor and awesome.
FORD THUNDERBOLT.. THE GREATEST CAR FORD MADE BAR NONE. IT HAS THAT GANGSTER LOOK.THE INSANE POWER,AND THE COOL OF A BYGONE ERA. AND STREET CRED THATS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN SOME LATTERDAY SHOE. BOX
Why is everyone so upset with the way Chris drives? He's sitting in a museum relic, would you have taken all the apexes like there's no tomorrow? I don't think so.
@@racecars.universe actually the previous comment was correct. the thunderbolt was specifically built by ford (including the suspension) for drag racing in the super stock class. i do not think this car is a real thunderbolt for that very reason. no one in their right mind would EVER blasphemize a real thunderbolt like that. also take note of the missing hood bulge and a few other details. might not wanna argue with americans about american cars, just sayin
@@BEERDRINKING101 Even the video description states that the car was built in NZ with parts imported from Holman Moody. Originally built by the Ford factory as a 1964 Ford Fairlane 289 Sport Coupe. NOT a legit 1964 Ford Fairlane 427 Thunderbolt car.
Yes it is, I've seen the papers. Holman Moody even sent the creates down here to New Zealand and approved the build. Furthermore, this car participates in the HVRA Racing Series here in NZ (Historic & Vintage Racing Association), where only authentic cars with historic proven racing pedigree can be admitted. More and more proof this one's the real deal.
