j ai eu aussi cette chance, et même plusieurs fois, sur le trajet royan saujon, certes ce trajet n est pas grand mais j ai eu l immanence plaisir de prendre les commande du trains.

Wonderful and interesting. I went on a fast streamline train from Normandy up to Paris in the 1950s(obviously for business people).My late father adored France and spoke excellent French.He read a lot of French also.
There are locomotives that operate like that today. This kind of control originated in days when power was controlled by a big device situated under the dashboard and connected directly to the wheel. It was easier to construct it this way than to have some kind of lever.
@Sohave I assume that these older DC electric locomotives are like subway/underground cars with a fairly small set of power levels, each being some parallel or series connection of the traction motors and some resistance switched into the field windings, right? Newer locomotives seem to use 3-phase AC induction motors driven by variable frequency, variable voltage solid state inverters with continuously variable power.
@rbflowin No trains dont work like that. The "stearing wheel like" handle is the throttle handle it controlls how much power is going to the traction motors. For changing tracks he can use the phone to call for automatic switching. Usually the locomotive engineer does not change tracks. Even in shunting there is usualy another guy along with the driver to jump out and change tracks while the enginere is taking care of the driving.
@onligne Salut. Ce bruit vient de l’appareil enregistreur bande graphique, en gros c’est une sorte de boîte noire, cela enregistre les paramètre de la locomotive sur une bande de papier.
Having been to France many times I,have simply fell in love with French railways, they are so interesting. I love these older locos with the glorious diamond pantographs. The French legacy DC system still puts many 25KV to shame. We travell from Tours to Paris behind a BB26000 dual voltage loco and did 203kph. I am curious though what looks like a steering wheel in the cab, what actually is it. Obviously not a steering wheel. The French may not have invented they have sure grabbed the ball and run with it.

@Sohave I was joking about the steering wheel. Thanks for confirming that about AC motor controllers. I see the Wikipedia map showing 25 kV AC in northern France and 1.5 kV DC in the south. Is the south being converted to AC? 25 kV single phase AC at the local frequency seems to be the trend in many places around the world, including the USA.
À 1:25, baisse-t-il le panto avant? Je sais que le protocole normale sous le courant continu c'est de lever les deux pantos au démarrage, pour repartir les ampères entre eux, puis baisser celui avant au fur et à mesure de l'acceleration et le réduction des ampères. C'est rarement nécessaire de lever plus qu'un seul panto sous le 25 kV, les amperes n'étant que 1/16 que sous le 1500V. Mystérieusement, les locos « amirales » de 25 kV, les BB15000, n'ont qu'un seul panto chacune.
Avec le progrès infini, quant aux locomotives ultra-modernes (Prima 1, Prima 2, Traxx, Euro 4000, Vectron), pour accélérer, elles n'ont plus de volant mais plutôt un joystick.
Hmm...Nice video! 5 * But i still have a couple of questions. 1. I can`t hear the ventilatilation of the electrical engines. Is it replaced or..why? 2. I know that the controller of some types of locos have multiple positions: 0 1 2 (corresponding to the level of graduator), mentain, decrease, advance and some other two levels for increasing the power using the resistance not the voltage. This locomotive is one of that types? Thanks!

@ApolloWasReal Hi I am not shure If you are replying on the right comment, i was just corecting some person who thought that the round handle was a stearing wheel, and told him it was a throttle and about how things worked regarding switching tracks. Regarding your topic the curent in France is both AC for northern france and DC for southern. I am not an expert on French Locomotives so I cant tell you which this is. but i can confirm what you are saying about AC motorcontroll.
Im guessing the windshield wipers used to be manual? Or is that lever a back-up in case the motor fails? Either way, it would suck to have to do it manually!

What is the catenary voltage? 1500V DC? I see what looks like a list of maximum allowable currents, the largest being 1000A. that would be 1.5 MW @ 1500V DC, including air conditioning. The big white wheel is for steering, right? :-)
Why not put a throttle lever in it as used in boats? Upright is neutral. Put it forward it goes forward, the more you push it away the faster it goes. And slam it in reverse for braking. Give it more throttle in reverse it brakes faster. It's a lot easier to use if you are familiar to boats.. And works both ways.
So for people : the sterring wheel is for accelerate : turn to the left and you add more power in the motors ; turn to the right and you "down" the power in the motors. Clear ?
Mais je peux le comprendre , seulement personnellement je ne les aiment pas , donc je m exprime . Personnellement je suis passioné par les 67200/67300 , c est pas pour ca que je vais dire que les gens qui ne les aiment pas racontes n importe quoi ou ont mauvais gout . Chacun a ses preferences , c est d autant plus vrai dans le milieu ferroviaire .
Oui c est vrai que la SNCF , leurs manies de faire du neuf avec du vieux desfois ... bof bof . Mais a la base , a part les 25100 , je trouve les Jacquemins horribles . Chacun ses gouts @++
