Dear Mark tank you for all the videos that you post, I've learned a lot with you. But in this presentation you only explore the positive side of the B1, omitting the cons can give the wrong idea of this product to a potencial buyer(like me)... i've seen the B1 in the photo expo in Paris, it's really super to have a portable ttl flash, I was relly interested in this light BUT: it only works in TTL with CANON, no ttl for Nikon, Sony... and cannot work plugged directly do 110/220V... that means that you'll ever depend on battery even in studio...
They are awesome, I can see why they work so well, but man! these astronomically expensive almost 2k for one light and 400 bucks for the remote... for that price you think they would give you the remote. On a side note I love the way Mark Wallace teaches...
Wedding photographers gonna love this. One of these in each corner of the room, about 12 feet high pointing to the center and you are good to go till batteries runs out. Initial $10k investment though.
Can you do this same set up with the Nikon SB-910's? I have Three. Would I use the same set up? I use the Nikon D750 thanks! What would I do if I have a family portrait with Four or Five in one shot?
I am not so crazy about TTL and love the Profoto B2 air 600Ws. I own two units and they are great for location shooting as well. Maybe I am addicted to handheld light meters :)
I know this is very expensive but this light source is much better than any speed light. Speed lights will always have that crappy lighting look and they never have enough power if shooting through a softbox. Just wish Profoto would lower the price point for these lights.
Any guidance on how to set flash compensation for the B1 on Nikon cameras which have pop-up flashes like the Nikon D810 and the D750, when the AirTTL is in the camera hotshoe? Pressing the Flash compensation button while the AirTTL is in the camera hotshoe makes the built-in flash pop-up half way as a result of which the flash compensation feature does not appear on the LCD info screen. Any way around this?
+Joel Peres not sure about the D750. But the D810 has its own separate button for flash compensation button, so the pop up flash won't actually pop up unless you press the release button.
I like that set up but the total lighting package he has with two lights, remote and beauty dish will cost close to 5000.00. Not cheap that is for sure.
Where are you buying your 10 speedlites for 10 times less than one of these?!?! The last I checked for a decent speedlite (and I'm not talking about the cheapest versions) they cost about $350 a piece. That's $3500 easy. This light is supposed to be $2000. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Alexandre Almeida Not the same quality of light though...Not even close. Best bang for the buck is a pair of Cheetah CL360s=same quality of light and 600WS...Only costs 450.00 when one light falls over. No TTL, but TTL is amateur hour anyway.
It seems we can't use high speed sync on this profoto. so if we want to shoot at 2.8 or 1.4, on bright sunlight, have to go back to manual. pretty useless then. well, gotta wait for profoto B2 or something........
For somewhat less you could buy 2 Einstein's, mini vagabond battery pack, cyber synch module and stands, with a total of 1280watts your ready for most location.
spped 1/200 f 8 ? !!!!! !!???? you are working it terrible !!!!!!! The b1 have High Speed Sync as Fast as 1/8,000 Sec... you should be working 1/8000 f 2.8
Profoto may be relatively expensive, and they are. That said, the benefits that come with the high price are worth it to me. Same as buying a BMW over Chevrolet.
speedlites without extra battery pack they recharge no proparly each time, and way toooo long, with extra battery/in total 12x/ they can get over heat easly,strobes...very often after battery pack drain over 50% work often far way from what we wish,b1 has 8-10 speedlite in one head/each600 Rt=$500/and they work without this kind problems.I use two sets/old Norman+Hensel+speedlite/for custom jeep+model compare with Pocketwizard,+honda power generator.b1 solw me problem of weight, cables, setups bla, bla, bla, but yes,it cost$$$$ bit to much
