I know that she is called a mezzo-soprano, but I would classify her more as a contralto, which is actually more rare than mezzo-soprano. In fact, in operas which normally call for contraltos, they generally use a mezzo who is capable of reaching down into the contralto range. Her voice does not sound forced at this range, which tells me that it is natural for her. In any event, she sings beautifully. (It does not hurt her case that she is also beautiful...)
