WSW 🎶 Very excited to finally be sharing a song from Les Misérables as the first video of June's #WendySingsWednesday theme, Roles I'd Love to Play! As many of you will know, the character Eponine sings this heartbreaking song, 'On My Own', about her unrequited love for her friend Marius 💔

In this video, Wendy uses some delayed-onset vibrato in singing some of the longer notes. In particular, listen to the notes at 2:10 to 2:12, 2:21 to 2:28, and 2:46 to 2:51. On many of her other videos, she sings using a full-length-of-the-note vibrato style throughout the song. For comparison, take 5 minutes and listen to this same song sung by Lea Salonga in Royal Albert Hall, London, in which Lea uses full-length-of-the-note vibrato throughout the song. In particular, listen carefully to Lea’s perfectly sung note from 4:23 to 4:30 in the Lea RU-vid video. The Lea video has the RU-vid title, “Lea Salonga - On My Own (Les Miserables) [720p]”, and it has over 23,781,000 views. Wendy is capable of singing this whole song just like Lea does, if Wendy chooses to do so. Overall though, Wendy does sing this song well in this video.

Hi D. Hightone, Lea Salonga is a world-class singer and performer and she sings this amazingly. However it will never be my intention to sing or perform a song "just like" someone else; it is always my intention to give my own performance instead of a replica of someone else's.

@@WendyCarr I think that when you are singing at your best, you are also a world-class singer. Hopefully you will get the opportunity to perform in some of your favorite musicals in the coming years.
