Thank God, Father- for your beautiful words and service to our Lord. I am a recent catechumen in Ontario. It is refreshing to know there are canadian priests online that are spreading Gods love and word. I was a LaVeyan satanist for 10 years, may the lord forgive me. Pray for me brothers and sisters. God is good! Glory to him.
Thank you Father for your wisdom. I’m a former Protestant about to officially become a catechumen at my parish on Sunday. Just signed up for the Patreon love from Calgary Alberta
0:00 Vladyka Gabriel! He is visiting my Parish in Florida for the Patronal Feast. Great Video as always Father, This exact topic has been on my mind since Christ has called my Mother and a close friend.
This was hard for me to understand now I understand 1% of it. And it makes sense to me that I would shut my juvenile behavior and just participate in liturgy. I don’t need to lecture anyone
Father, i just have a small doubt. We all can agree that liturgical music is one of the key expressions of our faith especially to outsiders. But why did the Russian church adopt "Latin sacred polyphony" in their liturgical chant(especially after Patriarch Nikon) and repIace the holy Znamenny chant with it. Even the Ruthenian uniates have retained the old chanting traditions. So dosent that come under modernization? It is true that many greek american churches are modernized with organs and pipes in their liturgy and "Anglicise" it. Lord have mercy.. .
You mention Father Peter, of Orthodox Ethos, and his hard sayings… Has he submitted to a new bishop since we’re on the topic of Obedience? I warned our young folks and new catechumens and newly illumined - to be careful to whom they listen to online - because there are some out there who are Protestants in Cassocks. We talked about Father Peter today, ironically, to which I asked if he was submitted to a bishop.
@@realmccoy124 so when will you obey the basic command to not judge, or practice the virtue of not circulating old rumours. He is trying to come under a bishop. Statements like this one, reveals that many laymen are ignorant not only of his position, but of how things work in the Church. Fr Peter is far from Protestant and is a canonical priest. He’s never been defrocked nor punished with any canonical impediments. Perhaps you should be more well formed before contaminating catechumens and young people with neo donatism. He’s still a priest and you shouldn’t engage in speculation, nor should you accuse of him of refusing to submit to a bishop. This has been talked about to death. Go look it up and maybe, if you possess a modicum of courage, you can email Fr Peter and ask him yourself. As an FYI, my bishop approves of Fr Peter. So are you now saying you know better than a bishop who is a member of canonical synod? All I’ll say is this. Laymen who fail to respect canonical priests shouldn’t be virtue signalling by talking about submitting to bishops when they lack the basics in respecting hierarchy.
@@living_orthodox - it’s a valid question. And I mean no Father Peter any harm. Just as I mean you no harm. Authoritative Internet sources dated April 2023 - clearly state that Father Peter is not canonical. There’s a letter from Archbishop Peter - denouncing him… so, help this layman to understand how is it that a priest operates apart from the hierarchy and remains connected to the body? I have yet to see any evidence that Father Peter has a new bishop. I don’t think I suggested that Father Peter was defrocked, nor did I say that he went through all those official channels and all that stuff. But. Correct me if I am wrong - who is his bishop, as I understand it, he doesn’t presently have one - yet. And. For the record, Father Mikhail, I listen to Orthodox Ethos - cautiously I’d might add. Just as I listen to your channel - recognizing you’re a young priest who is pastoring a parish, and as I understand it, as someone who has converted to Holy Orthodoxy less than 10 years.
@@living_orthodox - pretty sure the scripture informs the laity to walk circumspectly, Father, and informing the folks in my parish to be cautious to the content they’re viewing online - is not neo Donatism … it’s called safeguarding the flock. And. What I said was in agreement with our parish priest. And I was fulfilling my duties as a god father to my god son. And in submission to my priest, I circled back and informed him of what I said and to whom IN obedience. So your Bishop approves of Father Peter… good. Are there other bishops? I don’t know what the ‘old rumors’ are to circulate…. So your superiority complex led you astray here. But. I understand you’re a man and relatively new to Orthodoxy. Not expecting you to be faultless like a follower Donatism would expect. I simply said be careful. I don’t know how a priest - ‘is trying to find a bishop’ - looks like. I don’t even know how a priest separates himself from his bishop to where he has to find a bishop. But, rest assured - this layman does his due diligence before stepping into any parish, under any jurisdiction to make sure things are solid.
Amen, brother! On the other hand, I don't understand how you can have a such deep understanding of obedience but still reject the authority of the Pope.
@@ClappedOut the pope rejected the authority of the Church and the authority of Christ. The vulgate’s poor translation of Matthew 16 is very easily refuted by the original Greek. Also, don’t call me brother. I am not a monk.
Axios, Batyushka. Lord have mercy on us. You have lost some weight it seems. May it be to your good health and God preserve you. Thank you as always for your pastoral care for us sinners. Blessings to you and your family.
