On Our Mark: Episode 66 - The New Orion Side by Side 

As soon as I looked at this gun I thought that’s a sweet duck gun. Please do a 20” barrel option. Honestly I can’t get through the woods with a long barrel. Most of my partidge guns are 18-22”long barrels are much more difficult to get in and out of the truck. Thanks for the extractors and not ejectors. Thanks for the straight grip and double triggers as all sxs should be. As for the distributor exclusive rifles. My favorite was when you did the Cabelas Lazerguard exclusive. Most beautiful vanguards ever. Bought a bunch of them and would buy another in 340 wby if you make it. 340 wby needs to come to the Vanguard line.

How does this gun differ from the older Weatherby Orion SxS guns?

Classic side x side is awesome. Love the straight English stock,grade 2 wood with oil finish. Seems like you dropped the ball by not including weatherby's great deep blue bluing. Matte black on a classic like this seems odd. Have one ordered the only hesitation is the matte bluing. Will have to see it before buying. Hoping for the best. 😢

Is this the same as the Weatherby Athena by Fausti? Those SxS were really nice with nice wood.

First off, I love w Weatherby forearms. I’m not trying to be overly critical, but what were you guys thinking when you decided to make extended choke tubes standard on an otherwise quite traditionally styled SxS? Absolutely ruins the lines. Also, you should have used the gold cursive script if you absolutely had to splash “WEATHERBY” across the receiver…Major props for bringing an affordable SxS to market though. I’d buy one of I didn’t have to spend an extra $200 on flush choke tubes so i don’t look like I’m hunting with a clown gun. 🤡

Ever consider making a pump action? Weatherby Quality and Aesthetics in a pump would be something to die for! and as always please consider making a 35 RPM!

Why not put country of origin on your product web page? I assume I know where it is made, but why not be transparent? No knock on it at all. Eliminate the billboard advertising on the side of the action. Totally detracts from the classic looks of the gun.

90% of the people don’t understand what you are talking about. Everyone’s shooting ability differs. Pretty sure I could shoot this gun and shoot well. I have been shooting side by sides for 35 years now. To add, I don’t shoot a over and under very well. It’s all preference. Great guns these side by sides try shooting one.

I really don’t like the look of the extended chokes even though they may be better with steel shot. Ruins the look of the gun. I have been considering the Orion SXS but the chokes are a deal breaker

All company’s have to consider price increases . Sad that a reasonable priced side by side shotgun can’t be made here. Sure you can get a new Fox but the price is 5000$ or so. For that price there are better Italian made guns to consider. So the Turks fill this void. I own a Tristar Bristol in 20 gauge. It was under 850 $ so not a huge investment. Will it last long enough to pass on to my children? Time will tell. It’s a good shooter ,a few box of shells once in a while. The action is the minimum amount of metal to make a working gun. Again you get what you pay for. Just my thoughts on side by sides.

Most everyone includes 5 choke choices.Being blue at the end means nothing.
