They’re not a bunch of dime singers as you Americans say ! Although they didn’t have much success with “Leader Of The Pack” It was banned in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿! I Knew the song when I was younger but I didn’t know who it was by. Some Thirty Years Later I heard it again on a local radio station in Birmingham England. So what did these girls look like? They were street tough and I suppose that’s what one had to be in those days. Their legacy will not be forgotten for a long time. Over here in England we had The likes of Dusty Springfield Sandie Shaw Cilla Black etc. anyway forward to 2019 I heard on RU-vid that Mary Weiss had an LP out called “Dangerous Game” I went to a record shop in Newcastle England I took a gamble and it paid off big time! Whoever you are try and get hold of it! It might change your mind about calling the Shangri-Las “Dime Singers”! Kind regards Kevin Simpson From Wallsend in England.

You didn’t mention that George “Shadow” Morton played a big part in the writing of Leader Of The Pack. Ellie gives him a lot of credit in another interview I’ve seen.
