IN WHICH - we take a close look at Mr Erik Rutan's (Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal) brand new BC RICH USA Custom Ironbird 7. Enough o' my yakkin'. Let's BOOGIE.
I'm pleased to see Erik get this signature guitar from BC Rich finally. Such an amazing musician and has been faithfully playing the brand for a long time.
For your info, the builder’s name is Casey Crabtree. He’s been their primary builder since 2018. If you order a new Bc rich USA custom, it’ll either be him or Neal Moser.
@@coffinfeeder7732 yes. He’s an actual builder now. In the 70s and 80s, all he did was various tasks throughout the shop, but hadn’t actually built a BCR branded instrument until this year.
Just saw Cannibal Corpse tonight. And this guitar was the most beautiful instrument I've seen when it was sitting on the stand Under the Clear stage lights. HE plays so vicious but with finesse too🤘
The best-looking signature that I have ever seen! Can't wait to see the 6 string, my wallet fears that day though. Thanks once again for an amazing video.
thank you, scooter, for this properly in-depth look into such a beautiful build. i must admit, it's renewed my love of the ironbird shape, not least seeing it as a 7.
The tuning isn't that complicated. I use the same, because C# is my favorite choise of six string, so it's G# on the Seven. I use to write riffs on my six string, so i have a whole deeper string when i feel the need to get a bit deeper. It's a cool way to think of riffing in my opinion - instead of mumbling around the deepest notes possible and lacking of contrast again to get any lower when you need to, you always have your doom string left! 7 string guitars are great. I'd love to own this ironbird!
Just got mine from B.C. a few days ago and it has to be the best 7 string I've ever played. Casey at B.C. built it flawless. Happy to of been the first customer to get one of these other than the man himself. It's funny how this worked out because several months before he was endorsed, I went to B.C. to have an Ironbird made in homage to Rutan, that would of been like his primary Red 6 string, but I was going to have a few extra things done to it. After a few months and I think during that, the endorsement was handed out and I got a chance to turn my build in to get one of these. Amazing guitars...the photos and videos don't do it justice at all. How it feels and plays is just perfect too, and it's mean! I will probably dump the Fishmans for EMG's in mine to my preference. I also have stainless steel frets and schaller locking tuners on mine which Erik opted not to have. I'm not quite sure why he opted not to have those, the stainless frets are amazing and the locking tuners make changing strings so much easier.
@@ryanschindler923 they are indeed the trendy pups. Big surprise to see Rutan switch to them after using the Dirty Fingers and Bill Lawrence pups for years. If ya get a set, I wish ya luck with em! 🤘🏼
Wow when I first saw this axe I was like it is cool but nothing like his six string BC Rich Ironbird... But now seeing and knowing this is his signature seven string axe changed my thoughts on it and looks awesome !!! Now how much will this set is back is question....
Geeeeeezzzzz that's badass son!!!, Man bc has always been my favorite and they have always had the best custom shop builds even tho they had problems with the company that doesn't reflect on the builders man!!! This thing is fuckin sick to death!!!!
BC Rich have done other custom shop Ironbirds, I know a guy who owned a black one with a reverse headstock that went to the guitar player of the band Portal.
@@GranvilleGuitars I'm sorry I should have clarified, it was 7 string, can't believe I forgot to put that, I have pictures if you'd like, it is also in the video for Glumrphonl by Portal.
Sweet guitar. Rutan Red that is badass! And titanium upgrades are the shit. Would like to see Bc Rich bring back the Ignitor!! Not just in Custom Shop form. Godly pricey as we all know they are.
@@gavin6666 He has Duncans in that Explorer. By now it's possible that he's had the 6string variant of those Fishmans installed in all his six strings. I have a feeling he's kept his Ibanez Universe original though since they're now as scarce as rocking horse shit
This guitar looks killer! G# tuning sounds so damn metal! Nice with the string gauges! I have a problem on my 7 string…need to tune the Low B about 15 cent more flat than rest of the strings before it sounds in tune (i did intonation)? Any idea of what’s causing this issue? I guess it’s not a problem on this guitar, when Erik has a pro tech on it😜
@@daniellievemaa1949 it also sounds like the string has this “vibrating” sound to it…like it’s out of tune with itself?…I have lowered pickups, so it’s not because of them
@@misanthropolist1808 ok, then only thing I can think of is the string sitting too high. But anyway it's normal not to tune the low string up to perfect pitch cause it's going to go sharp when you hit it hard. I mean check out some of the most recent metallica live videos. When they are playing songs in d tuning they are hitting the low string constantly out of tune. it sounds horrible.
@@daniellievemaa1949 You're definitely right about not tuning the low E to perfect pitch. Every time I try, it goes very sharp when I play, and I do have a heavy attack. Tuning it a hair flat keeps it in tune with the other strings no matter how hard or soft my attack is.
So he can play in G# standard with CC and in C# standard with hate eternal without switching guitars? How can it be? G# C# F# B D# G# ( 6 string G# standard) (G#) C# F# B E G# C# D# and E don’t match.. Help! :) thanks
