mmm, dude used to be my hero when I was younger... not so much anymore... he seems very lost and I sense some depression symptoms in him.. he needs help
he was seriously one of the top pros at that time when he was on girl/dvs, i remember him winning tampa pros best trick (switch front feeble i think) which is why i dont get why he retired but whatever its his life.
+ShoryaBoneless I know right?.. His top $12,500 a month check and whatever else lesser he got does not logically equate to even a 1 million in 5 years. This of course includes the lifestyle he's leading at the time.
Tony Roberts Those residuals do not come in forever. It's not like the music industry. Unless he was a character in every Tony Hawk game then he only got the money within a year after the game completed.
the only thing that made me sad throughout this whole interview, was the fact that he said skateboarding wasn't fun to him anymore..A dude that had so much talent to just say no more, just kills. Especially to the skating community. Every skater out there is giving their all day in day out. Destroying themselves for the thing they love..and he just stopped loving..the thing that made him who he was..The people who don't respect his decision need to just calm down. He made his call, and lived through it all..Now, he'll just be in the hall.
It's one thing to not love it anymore and it's another thing to hate it. I think if he had real maturity he would've realized that he is able bodied and gifted in his craft. He makes money that doesn't come easy but it does for him based on his position in the industry. His exit and just the reason for it in general was a joke and people laughed as such. Don't you remember when he tried to come back? He kooked himself so hard he couldn't come back again. He took it for granted and he got what he asked for. Period.
He sounds like a little kid trying to tell everyone how cool he actually is... I feel kinda bad for him, it's like all the drugs just messed him up and stopped him from ever growing up
Then, he goes on to say his biggest cheque was from Red Bull at 150K/year. He must of had a shitload of sponsors to be worth 5+ million like he said he was. Or maybe he's referencing when he owned Selfish?
People disliked this guy for getting into music smh lol whats the difference of someone in the skateboard industry making a rock band and Jereme rapping? Nothing. Too mainstream I guess..he had nothing else to prove before he stopped skating. He won contests and made great video parts. Tbh no one has anything to prove, skate for fun and don't worry about what anyone else is doing.
+desertpiggott he goes from saying he enjoys "being poor and having fun than being rich and depressed" and then says "wish I was on RedBull because it has the biggest paycheck". on top of it forces the most contrived and fake "laughter" in order to appear humble. He is the opposite of "down to earth".....
+Danny Hengel I'm comparing this interview to recent others with him not him to what people define as "down to earth". In other interviews I always felt he was trying to come off as a rich rapper (an example being he has mentioned multiple times that he bought his Austin Martin off the lot) so it was nice to see him answer these questions pretty honestly. When you do as well as he did for so long I imagine it sucks to have to admit to people that you're broke and I respect the fact that he admitted that. That level of honesty may not be out of place for everyone but it seemed to be new for him and i liked seeing that.
THIS CRACKED ME UP SO MUCH, I GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT/CONVERSATION WITH HIM ON FUCKIN INSTAGRAM LIKE A MONTH AGO AND BASICALLY TOLD HIM TOO STOP ACTING LIKE HE KNOWS HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS.
jereme was my favorite from YeahRight i honestly don't know what happened. Last I heard he was skating Pauls park they built in that warehouse in the hills. Now..i dont even know.
Met him in person, and he was a really humble down to earth guy. Of course this was after the J Casanova thing, but it was a great experience! Though I didn't like him dropping out of skating, that was HIS choice (Plus now he is skating again) The haters need to sort their own shit out in their own lives before talking shit!
Wow he's honest as hell. Most of the rap music we listen to every single day, says much more obnoxious shit than Jereme Rogers, and we back the hell out of it. I like that he admits being broke. He rules.
+John Hill he admits to being broke and enjoying "being happy and poor" but then goes on to say he would still like to be on the RedBull tip because "it pays the biggest paycheck"....ok? His forced laughter only further solidifies his contrived and fake behavior behind his facade of being "worth 50 mil" ..nooooo... he's not "honest" he's fake as fuck. He's an abomination that should have never gotten into the game in the first place.
Idk why everyone's bitchin about this. This made me like Jereme that much more! The dude left something he wasn't happy with to pursue something that made him happy, how's that bad? Jereme man if you're reading this, you are the a beast and a role model. I mean not the rapping or anything like that just your views on being happy hahaha
He def never used to laugh like that. What a disgustingly contrived laugh :( smh. Just like at the end of his skateboarding career when he started to do the little hands thing when he landed stuff, like palms facing down open handed like he didn't know what landing a trick felt like... That was contrived as well. Can't force style man... There was nothing wrong with his REAL style.
He legit lived with Paul Rodriguez and skated with him everyday, I saw them at reseda skating the flat bar really good switch skate tricks, and they were always together back then in the valley. I mean Paul Rodriguez is one of the best skateboarders of all time and he is mellow doesn’t act like a tough guy and is approachable and decent to people he has a good reputation and is respected worldwide. Jereme took himself so seriously and did have the big wheels on big vehicles and the baggy white t’s with the chain on just all baller style and he was in the valley a lot but I think he is from Boston or something. Anyway he was just a kid back then I don’t know how I would react if I got put on and was hanging with Paul and making bucks like that, that’s a lot of pressure. Throw in some girls and some coke and off you go. Hard to toe the line and easy to have an identity crisis it seems to happen all the time. It’s rad to see he doesn’t take himself so seriously now he was really good you don’t get on Girl for nothing. You dudes are all world famous legendary skaters trend setters and thought bosses.
Well said mate it’s easy for people to judge most people act like a tool at some point when they’re young I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t come across too clever if they were being followed around with cameras all the time lol
I think if he made a full comeback to skateboarding right now, he would have full support from everyone and become successful again. But he would have to make it clear that hes in it for good.
Sucks he felt like skating was a job at some point... I've wanted to play music professionally for a long time but havent been able to because I have a life... If i was put in a position where music felt like a job, that'd be a serious bummer.
Honestly, I miss this guy! Saw him in a few demos and he ripped. It sounds like he's accepted the mistakes he's made in his life. I can't hate on this guy
+Kylizar he is the best person ever. you shouldnt say that. he's nice, just a little bit love to pull a joke the whole time. and ofc Im sure he skates better than you. thats for sure.
@@BA-vv4jy Damn, it's been a while. The "swag" thing was a reference to his first song "J.Casanova 30 Thousand 100 Million video", particularly at 0:33 seconds. That might have been the cringeiest use of it at that time. Have a good one! Cheers!
He seems pretty wise. All that life has taught him a lot at a young age. He had the misfortune of not liking what he was good at. It happens to athletes and artists. Look at Mos Def. He used to be an incredible rapper, but he wants to be a singing philosopher. Now he's promoting terrorism and going broke. Look how many smart kids drop out of school and lose scholarships.
he's not really affecting anyone is he? I don't get why the wave of disklike toward him is so strong, he stepped down which effectively enables another talent to step up. In the 80's and 90's (my era) skating really had jack all £€$ so nows so strange when people skate to make tons of it and become so corporate in the process. If the guy has issues atleast let him take timeout to work them out.
Man who cares if skateboarding becomes your "Job" and you "have to go jump down 10 stairs" If you loved skateboarding that much it wouldn't feel like a job. I understand he felt like he should be making music, but cmon now..... why start at the bottom of something when you're almost to the top of another? He had some of the highest paying sponsers and he was so young.. You know he regrets wanting to rap instead of skate.
Say what you want about him but he is an entertaining dude, sort of like Antwaun in that when he talks i stop to listen, no matter how crazy or dumb it might be, because its usually entertaining and funny, the stop sign story had me cracking up, just picture a stop sign with a bullet hole in it
