Wow great video of Utuado, have friends that are like family there. How they survived Maria is amazing and a testament to our people !!! Was there in 6/18 wish I had taken my drone also,,,,,Thank you for sharing our island and the Beautiful people ! God Bless you Ovi. Much love from Chicago
Once again another awesome video of our beautiful Island. Ovi Good job. Hey Ovi that's a beautiful song that your father sings with your sister, really nice.👍👍🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Thanks Jorge. He's been singing since the early 70's and has over 100 songs, possibly 200. One day I will try and collect every one of his albums. I do have all his latest, including the new one being released next month.
Sr. Duran, Thank you for publishing these videos. The videos reveal how beautiful n magnificent this Island truly is. Once again Thank you n keep publishing.
Thanks Miguel. Isn't it great? There is so much that I can't cover in the short time I visit. But every time I go I try to record different locations. Saludos.
Hermosos recuerdos. ❤
I was born in Caguanas, Utuado and grew up on Calle comercio, Lares.
Believe me, I wanted to stop in Ponce and see the Parque de Bombas, but I was pressed for time. But I still have to go there and spend some time in town. It will be another time, soon.
i lived in PR for 15 years and there is so much of the island that i have never seen.. It is a beautiful and amazing place, i will move back some day. i guess that many of your videos will help guide me to these great locations.
Michael. I agree. I am learning new things about the island every time I go. Anytime I visit, I travel to new places I've never been to and they always surprise me. And I am only covering just a few things. Imagine if I spent a whole year traveling the island and getting to know every corner. Amazing. Glad the videos can help guide you.
Michael I was born and raised in the east part of PR until the age of 16 (now 45). I have only been back since then 5 times and each time was for family funerals so no fun at all. There’s so so much of the island that I haven’t visited in those many years I lived there that I’m shocked at how beautiful our island really is. I haven’t been to most center, souther and western towns lol. We usually stayed in near by towns growing up. Now I’m into nature and exploring so I’ll be taking my 16 year old son for a birthday gift to PR this June and looking forward to finally exploring a lot of places
I absolutely love the panoramic views as well as the folkloric music on the background. Thank you so very much for posting these videos. May I also mention they are extremely relaxing.
Just watched this video again. It's one of my favorites. The song your father and sister sing is great even though I don't know what they are saying. Great video!
Thanks Awilda. I may be returning to Utuado in January with my sister. We want to record more around town and take a picture with the beautiful gigantic flag of Puerto Rico that lights up at night. The one Hector painted on the side of a building. I didn't know where it was when I got there and left without taking any pictures of it. But guess what, I discovered it with my drone footage when I got home to New Jersey. It was just a block or two away from the plaza where I was standing.
I'm loving this series of videos. I like seeing the town's squares. Each Plaza is unique but never missing those beautiful churches. Thank you Ovi! I look forward to more towns.
Ovi, my last three trips to the island I've made it a point to see different things and towns. Part trips I spent time traveling from family members house to house. Now I make those visits brief to allow more time to explore my island.
I used to do the same, visit a lot of family but I missed on visiting new places. Now that I make videos I only visit just a few members and then move around a lot recording what I can.
Love that island so so much! I can’t wait for my two daughters to graduate high school n I’m going to move back!! I travel twice a year to the island n spend weeks at a time! Puertoricans that make it there are go getters! Like a lot of us from the states! It’s time! For the puertorican from the states move back n help with everything we learned in the states. N with this I mean the ones that like to work not the ones that want easy way out! God bless my people n our beautiful island!!!
Ovi Duran my family is from manati but my wife is from hatillo n I feel in love with that town just because of the way it is peaceful. We have family in Arecibo n ciales also. This passed summer we spent time in old San Juan vieques Culebra and then went in land with the family over by hatillo. But as u do I travel all around. Thank you for the videos the keep me grounded while I’m out here.
When I was a kid, the “Plaza de Recreo de Guayama” was considered one of the prettiest plazas in all Puerto Rico, the one other plazas had to contend with. It was keep immaculate, the trees were trimmed to perfection and provided great shade. They were shaped beautifully round. For reasons we already know, things have changed a bit. Nature did a little job to them, not out of anger but in the interest of renovation. Nature has the terrific power to renovate itself in no time, and then some...
My friend, keep up the fantastic work you are doing, presenting to the world in the nicest way all that natural beauty our island has to offer everybody, to see and enjoy. We all win thanks to your appreciated effort.
Get happy to see this reminds when i once went to a big beautiful plantation n tainos cemetery park n around it stream of water flow with lot of force n i bath n flow in it i felt my tainos for sure
Hi Ovi. Enjoy the festival. And have a lot fun. Take care Millie.
Congratulation Ovi, I love all your videos they all have a special touch. I don't know about you but I would love a video with some rain 🤗 love that rainny and Misty weather.
Utuado is the town my brother polices. He was transferred from Bayamon when made sargeant to Utuado which is ALOT closer to his house in Camuy so he took the transfer. He almost got swept away by the river during Maria but God was hearing my prayers and he survived!! By the way, la musica jibara me encanto!!! So appropriate. Your dad has an amazing voice! God bless.
That river in Utuado must have been gigantic. Now it looks tame. That town is very different. But I noticed one thing when I stopped for gas, that the people were extremely friendly, polite, and very happy. I felt kind of weird being treated so nice. Lol. True story. Glad to know your brother did not get swept away by the river. Camuy is also another place I want to visot soon. I hear great things about it. Saludos Marilynn.
He doesn't have anything on Amazon, just the local stores on the west coast of the island. They may have some of the newer ones, but not the older ones like this one. They've run out and my father only does a limited production.
I believe that's the river in your video that got very large because of the rain with Maria in Utuado. There are many YT clips of the river raging. That's a great area especially a bit north on route 10 in the area called Lago dos bocas the mountains are very beautiful. We stayed in a Air b&b up there. The place is called TJ ranch, super nice!
Part of my moms extended family is from Guayama. Drones rock. Love them. One of the best tools for mankind thats overall not harmful. Really captures layout of area. Long drive from Guayama to Utuado That church in Guayama is named after "San Antonio de Padua" if im not mistaken.
Ovi beautiful areas !! It is funny as many times as I have visited there are so many places I did not see and how would like to ! Your father and sister music is so good !! I’m working from home listening as I work !
My pleasure 😊 I haven't seen much of the island myself. I am on a mission now to visit every one of the 78 towns. May take a couple years but I will eventually visit them all.
Ovi Duran I know next time I go I’m using some of yours and Hayden tips about places I definitely want to see Las Maras and the Rio Grande the Wydahem hotel looks nice ! My son is a Marine station in Hawaii so now that may be my next trip ! Next yr ! He said it is like Puerto Rico there ! Oh and I went to the navy yard in Philadelphia back in late 70 my sister joined the navy we had to go there for something for her ! She retired in 1999 20 yrs
Hi Ovi My name is Jason I have been researching and studying Puerto Rico and have decided to move there my family originated out of Spain and I just love the Puerto Rico lifestyle and vibe. What a wonderful culture. Your videos have really helped me to make the only logical decision as to moving. I am a freedom minded individuals and believe in freedom and rights and Puerto Rico seems alot more free than the States and it's only getting worse here. I am in Tennessee now. I am planning to take a trip to Puerto Rico very soon. I know there is earthquakes and storms and I am perfectly fine with that we had a horrific tornado pass through the beginning of May so yeah I can live with it. If I ever realized how beautiful Puerto Rico was before I would have moved long ago. I actually just plan on camping around and traveling through the mountains love the area where you are from would appreciate any advice or even a little your if you're in the area I plan to be there in about 3 to 4 weeks and stay at least 2 weeks and move permanently by fall!!! Thanks love your work keep up the wonderful beautiful videos I plan to start youtubing as soon as I get there, lol!!!
Utuado. Love this place. The city center is beautiful. I was there 2019 and would like to visit again on my next trip if possible Nov. 2021. But getting there on the mountain road is crazy. Thinner and tighter than some of the roads in Ireland. Must be an island thing...lol Looking forward to the weather, food, people and the live music in La Parguera on the weekends.(Hopefully they are still playing)
Hi ovi!!
Omg so beautiful!!!! I thing we should have Bigbus red bus in Puerto Rico! Or make a city tour in double decker buss! Like hop on,hop off,;) Image that big buss, with the giant flag! Would be so nice!
Thanks for the memories of Guayama. A few corrections: Hurricane Maria’s eye made landfall in Yabucoa. Guayama is not in the mountains , but is near the coastal plain. Too bad you missed the famous “Casa de los Pastelillos” restaurant.
Yes, it dates back to the 1500's when the Spanish colonized Puerto Rico. It is also true of Mexico, Central and South America. Every town must have a plaza with a Catholic church, markets, and city hall. San Juan was the very first town built with a plaza in Puerto Rico and the second in all of America. Santo Domingo was the first. A little bit of history, which is our history.
Saludos Carmen.
Ive been to all of the towns you visited , my ex and her family is from the West (from Aguada) . Over 8 years we visited about 40 towns from all points East, West , South North .Luckily I was able to go back on my own 3 times before Maria and I even took my 11 year old Grandson , he was THRILLED . Im glad you are showing video after the hurricane and that most of PR is back in business . Ill be back for 3 days in December and hope to see that new statue in Arecibo . Have you been to SanGerman ? Mayaguez at Christmas time ? Nice looking historic center . Thanks for the memories . (by the way , nice music)
Good morning Jeff. Yes, Puerto Rico is back in business and just as good as before. I hope to someday visit all 78 towns, maybe after I retire. Soon. I am also returning to the island in late December to record more. What I do is record multiple videos every day and then I post over several months as time allows for editing. Yes, I have been to San German. That video will be posted here within the next two weeks. It will be called "San German from the air". I will be able to visit Mayaguez again during Christmas. They decorate it very nicely, especially downtown.
Thank you. Yes, last summer I visited Luquillo and have two videos about it. This time I am on the west coast and returning to the states tonight. Saludos.
My first pinchos and Best were beside the bridge in Utuado pa Arecibo. O, Utuado pa Adjuntas 😁🇵🇷🙏💞 The first was a$1.00 The next day I got 15 😂 🇵🇷 family night 🏝️🌹 Ponce
No te rias. jajajaja! Saludos y muchas gracias.
looks like ghost town. i watched lot of your viideos but i never see anyone out walking or doing anything. has everybody moved to orlando? so depressing
Buenos dias. Usually when I walk the downtown areas it's during work hours and you may not see many people. However, I do know that many businesses are now moving to malls and outlets close to the highways for easy access, just like in the states. I can do more vlogs in those areas in the future.
Hello! I am working on a short documentary about dance in post-Maria Puerto Rico. Would you have any interest in donating/selling a few seconds of this footage from Utuado? Thank you! Stephanie
Si estas en puerto rico y quieres ensenar los diferentes pueblos....porque no hablas espanol.....para que los estupidos dominicans que nos critican tanto a demas de ver que la isla.....no esta jodida....como creen ellos, entiendan lo que tu dices.....i know you dont give a damn about what they think.....but it will be nice if they understand what you are saying. De todas maneras muchas gracias, a ti y tu familia.
Saludos Agustin. Saludos.
Agustin, any time I do interview of someone on the island, it will be in Spanish. There is one coming in late September totally in Spanish of my own father. He talks about his music as I ask him questions. But I have to warn you, I do sound funny. Maybe one day I will try an entire video in Spanish for myself. Vamos a ver. Lol. Saludos.
