On the Sets - Vishal Bhardwaj | Rohit Shetty | Shoojit Sarcar | Zoya Akhtar | Gauri Shinde at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival with Star. Follow us on Facebook: MumbaiFilmFestival
It's so sad that none of Vishal's films made money because he is genuinely the BEST filmmaker on the panel. Yes he's made some duds, but Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider were amazing (I can't remember Kaminey unfortunately). Even Hollywood hasn't adapted Shakespeare so beautifully yet.
Absolutely. Certainly the MOST brilliant filmmaker in India as of now. He didn't make any dud. 7 Khoon Maaf and Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola had a lot to offer, but they weren't that accessible.
errr... did you not watch the interview?? vishal literally just said that his films all have made zero profit. they're all flops or have just broken even. that's not commercial success buddy.
Kabali Da! Bro go to Wikipedia and see his films box office record. You can see his all films are made with medium budget but they are all commercially and critically successful.Maybe here he jokingly said this,I don't know. His track record amazing. He is successful filmmaker that's why UTV produce his films otherwise UTV aren't produce his film.He is a mainstream hindi cinema's filmmaker but he made different type of film that's why he is genious!!!!
@@user-fk8md4jn3i There are very few who care about the Cinema and Generate revenue. SS Rajamouli , Sanjay L Bhansali, Raju Hirani, etc are few names who win at both ends.
Respect for Vishal. He's awesome but unlucky at the box office. And also Rohit for the honesty. Shoojit was surprising cause i love his movies. Felt he would have a lot to share but he didn't.
As always, Rohit Shetty being his honest self. Have never seen him being fake and thats what makes me love him more for the person he is. His films are such fun, no matter how I feel I'll watch any of his films and I feel happy. He entertains the best for me.... And his honesty shines through his films. Love you Rohit always
His movies are therapeutic, like andaz apna apna his movies are fin , no brainer and love watching them after a long exhausting day , it just makes you laugh,
The guy who made " Maqbool" thinks , he is same like these directors, brother, please , with Maqbool, you made HISTORY. there are lectures about your movie and " parinda" in our classes.
This discussion was extremely educating for a small filmmaker like me. Loved every bit of it. Such beautiful people with beautiful work and each with a mind of their own. Thank you MAMI..
Wow !! This is what talent and taking your own path looks like ..Vishal Bhardwaj is a gem ..he may never had the hits other folks in the panel had but he was the one who ruled this panel...Guy does not even has to boast about the box office ...and when he said all his movie failed , all the other successful directors realized would that hit count even matter :-)
I love the whole panel of directors. This interview is a crash course for aspirants. But what I liked the most is honesty when Rohit Shetty told that Golmaal again was crap and Vishal Bharadwaj said none of his movie made money so far. It needs guts to say it by the way, in front of crowd
I'm amazed to see that No one is mentioning Zoya Akhtar .I mean I really love her movies and would love to meet her some day and have a conversation. This is my dream
Have worked with Shoojit for an ad film for one of my brands.... I agree with two of his confessions: he doesn't take stress.. very chilled out and he wraps up his shoot in the evening ...and sleeps early
Loved listening to Shoojit Sircar, Vishal Bharadwaj and Rohit Shetty. Their eclectic and wide life experience reflects in their conversation. Lesser said the better about Zoya Akhtar.
@3:00 no we have not looked up and gone through it.... and that too rohit shetty’s filmography.... man how I wish I was a “Rajeev Masand level welaa.” Although in this case it is a good idea for Rajeev masand to do.... anything that is going to keep him busy and no time is left to write another one of his brilliant gems of journalism “the blind articles”
I don't like Rohit Shetty's movies, but he is honest, self-aware and he closely listens to everyone. He is like Micheal Bay of our industry. Underrated.
@@thilakkumar8739 I think his films say morr than Google .... 🤣🤣 To a person like me who watches Anurag Kashyap and Martin Scorsese it's hard to believe that Rohit Shetty is nice director ...
@@harshbhosale8720 ya thats y Rohit Shetty's films are making very good business worldwide & he's currently the most wanted & no 1 director in Hindi movies dude. Each & every has different taste dude.....not necessary that everyone shud like a particular director. U mentioned anurag kashyap....I'm not a fan of anurag kashyap but I respect his work. Same goes with Rohit Shetty....almost all his movies are blockbuster & people all these years aren't watching his movies simply....they like his movies and we need to respect every one
Anupama: Rohit, do you blow up another car if youre tempered? Rohit: You know what I'll remake 'temper' without blowing up cars and you'll eat your words. Just kidding. Love his films. They provide wholesome entertainment for a change. Waiting for simmba
SHOOJIT SARCAR JUST SAID IT PERFECT ! ALL THE GREAT FILMS INDIA CAN MAKE HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE BY INDIA'S GREATS .. AND THE WHOLE WORLD ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT IT .. THESE ARE ALL JUST PEOPLE HAVING NOTHING BETTER TO DO AND JUST GOING ABOUT IT FOR EMPLOYMENT REASONS DATS ALL !! .. THE MOST APT STATEMENT MADE ABOUT INDIAN FILM INDUSTRY AND ESPECIALLY THAT BOLLYWOOD WHICH IS ONLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR PROPAGANDA NOW NOTHING MORE. LOLS
Vishal Bharadwaj > Soojit > Zoya > GauriShinde >>>>>>>>>>>> RohitShitTea ( except for his 1st Golmaal, which, btw for me, is among the best comedy films I hv seen)
I have registered for mami for the first time in life. So far, pretty disappointed with the Ticket booking system. nothing has been available in the last three days even if i tried at 9 am in the morning. If anyone can suggest how to make sure....
You have to book at sharp 8. Specifically login at 8 and be as quick as you can. It's first come first serve system and others do it so obviously there won't be any available for 9. There's nothing wrong about system. Login at the correct time and be faster and you'll surely get it. I'm booking all 4 what I want most of the time. All the best.
When you do conversations in your own language automatically the conversation becomes more powerful, impactful, and beautiful nevertheless I don't know why the Hindi film industry is practicing the UK or the USA language for their Hindi audience. Be original and stay with your own language proudly if you want to make something incredible. Hindi ki baat hi kuch aur hai boss.
Rohit you'll just blow up a car if you're in a bad temper' - So aptly sums how insignificant and braindead some people's cinema is, validated just by box office. Thank you Anupama Chopra for so jokingly making such a truthful remark.
So.... The discussion is flooded with applause for one man "The Director of Shakespeare's Trilogy" (I dont take his name is respect like I dont take names of my parents)...but then his films don't make money.. Is he good enough for India to be on discussion panels and inspire film schools while you guys watch films like, kick, dabang and singham. and their sequels upon sequels.... Its heart breaking that your cinema going behavior is discouraging new comer film makers to be Sir (The Director of Shakespeare's Trilogy), Shekhar Kapur, Anurag Kashyaup, Sudhir Mishra, Mani Ratnam and many of this ilk.
1) Anupama Chopra continously smiles and laughs. It is so annoying. 2) Rohit Chopra is formulaic film maker. He has no clue on art of film-making. 3) Zoya Akhtar and Gauri Shinde are pretentious directors. They survive on making buzz on their movies 4) Vishal is rare gem. He deserves to be there. 5) Shoojit knows his craft like none other.
Rohit to chchhaya hi hua h. Nishi makes very good films and Vishal Bhardwaj is also amazing And even all are good Never mind the film's collection but they make very very good film. And ma'am Anupama Chopra you laugh unnecessarily
Even though some scenes of Rohit Shetty's movies were crap, I would still rate comedy movies as - tough to make. You can easily make someone cry or think, but no matter how much you try, no ones going to laugh if the comedy is not good. On the stage I see that there is a sense of over acheivement on the faces of Shoojit, Gauri and Zoya. As though they feel Rohit doesnt deserve anything or he must be sorry for his work. Dil Dhadakne Do was an utter crappy stereotypical over-the-top display of family drama. And still she gets to feel proud of it! Bullshit. I might not like few of his movies, but some of the Golmaal stuff was awesome. So he deserves some appreciation too.
Zoya Akhtar is one of the finest directors of this generation and u criticizing Dil Dhadakne do and praising Golmal shows a lot about you and your brains .IDIOT
@@adityaramachandran2852 So you think comedy movies like Golmaal are easy to make.. 😂😂😂😂 But DDD, which was just run-on-the-mill rich bollywood story was better. Even biggest of Hollywood directors have accepted making Comedy movies are the toughest. So try talking some sense. Do you even know about comedy timing???
some of the questions were really stupid...like they asking Rohit that do you like action and all...come on, that's his background so obviously he likes it..Plus some other questions also
@@user-fk8md4jn3i one man's trash is other man's gold. They make masterpiece and their cinema is for them. While Rohit films are for mass audience unlike the highly educated and who wants enlightenment instead of entertainment in cinema. Others make movies for themselves and Rohit make movies for audience that's why his movies are collecting more money than others.
Zoya can't just say " the Indians are always throwing litter", what do you by that huh....maybe some do this or many but not everyone...so take care of that when you say ....
