If you go home when the sun goes down at Great Basin National Park in Nevada, you'll miss one of the park's greatest attractions. The stars shine so brightly there, because the place is so unbelievably dark. Conor Knighton checks out the awesome night visions.

I was there 5 years ago for the Dark Skies Festival. Absolutely, you will see more stars here than anywhere else in the lower 48, and I've been to some dark places in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico. However, you are not going to see the Milky Way like they show it on this clip. What you are seeing in that is long exposure camera work, not something your eyes are capable of doing. There are some beautiful things to see in this park. It is not really a desert. Because of its higher elevation, it catches a lot more rainfall than the surrounding area, which really is desert. I saw so many birds, including hummingbirds and turkeys. Saw some deer. Just one word of warning. It is remote like you would not believe, and the nearest town, Baker, has very few services.
