Always a fan of this particular model. I like the Tudor BB Steel, but it's only in 41mm, that aspect I don't mind so much, but it's too thick and slab sided. A BB58 Steel would be welcomed. As such, I would take this as sort of a BB Steel alternative.. much more affordable and the overall fit and wear would be a lot better as well. I also find myself coming back to this particular model as it's quite handsome. I don't know, likely someday I'll end up with one.
Mark you have inspired me (With your previous Mods) to jump into modding a SKX crownless case with a SKX 171 dial and SPD 187 handset this spring. I agree with your SPD 185 with Black Bezel Insert.
Okay, I just got this last Friday and it's on my wrist now. Definitely a winner and will be taking this to Peru with me next month along with my Tudor Black Bay and Grand Seiko.
As an alternative to the Black Bay steel I think this would wear better. I had a heritage Black Bay and it was very thick and heavy on the wrist. The case work on this and design of the case looks top notch.
@@iangraham705 yeah but that was a MM200 in name only. Wasn't a fan of the case. This is a downsized and arguably the correct size for the MM. No need for a 300 meter dive watch to be so huge. Hell, Christopher Ward makes a 600m watch that is smaller.
@@ericrichmond8320 yes the thickness puts me off the mm300 too. I have this mm200 and the great blue hole version of the first iteration. The first one of actually more comfortable despite being bigger

It's good, but after a year I'd probably start craving an MM300. This watch is more like a middleman, and I think I would cut out the middleman eventually
@@AverageBros Oh it's undoubtedly flawed, but it just seems to be a superior wearing experience. Were I to go the MarineMaster route, the MM200 would just be a stopgap
@@fraybentos9854 Funny thing.. i actually sold my mm300 to fund this.. The mm300 is a step up but it's not leaps and bounds better ..It was just so top heavy and wore a fair bit larger than the 200.. The 200 wears perfectly.. Now, if they were to release a mm300 in the 200 sizing - i'd be all over it.. Not holding my breath tho.
@@AverageBros I've owned the MM300 three times in 3 different versions and never bonded with it because of its bulk and proportions. It just never connected with me. On the other hand, the SPB143 is a perfect watch to bond with.
@@JeffreyMcMahon thanks Jeff, I trust your feedback Sir. It's clearly a lovely piece but the wearability due to the odd proportions have kept me away. How are you enjoying that 8L powered Turtle? I feel like that might be a more fitting entry way into the 8L movement. Also, yes, the SPB143 and all of the other dial and bezel variations are a total sweet spot on the wrist.
