@@v8berenguer372 I was also there when it was Doohan’s last race and whilst he was in front lost the front end at turn 1. Hence why it’s now named after him. Plus a few years earlier I was 200 metres behind Foggy, in a WSB event when he lost it exiting turn 3. It was also my home racetrack so I’ve done 100’s of laps, in race conditions around there. 👍😎🇦🇺

I really don't buy that. Rossi got Doohan's Repsol Honda crew chief, and factory support. Pretty sure that bike was "satellite" in name only.

@@StarkRaven59 True. On that time Rossi had a contract with the HRC, not the Nastro Azzuro team (which was funded by Honda Europe). HRC didn't immediately put Rossi into the Repsol team, but he still got the factory spec NSR 500. Honda even made the 2001 bikes according to Rossi's wishes, which is understandable since he was the best man to bid for the last 500cc title

@Stark Raven in fact NSR 500 was use by valentino still use carburetors, because in the GP500 skill and guts are preferred to ride this devil bike,on the GP500 all controls are done manually because in the GP 500 there is no traction control aid, launch control, anti whellie aid, So the role of a mechanical head like Jeremy is not very important because at that time the GP 500 was still without electronics, in contrast to today the role of the mechanical head was very influential because electronic setup was very important lmao

In 2001 when there was a red flag, they would freeze the running order at the time of the flag. Distance and time gaps between riders was remembered. If you were ten seconds behind the rider in first, you would restart ten seconds behind the rider in first and would have to beat them by that margin after the restart in order to finish ahead of them. It was a confusing time.
