What? Now I only knew that Stoner captured his 2nd and the last world title on his birthday. Also, happy 36th birthday, Stoner! You are one of the best riders ever in the MotoGP history in terms of pure talent. And finally, it's been 10 years that Super Sic got his last ever podium finish here in PI, which means next Saturday will be exactly the 10th year that he left us... R.I.P. Marco Simoncelli.

Once again I was there. This time as a track marshal. Worked MG, it was very busy….matter of fact I’m one of the dudes picking up Rossis bike. And not for the first time that weekend too. During practice he dropped it there and when he got back to the bike he kicked it….. 😢….. managed to find a VR46 Rizoma barend in the grass too 😉

I was there in 1996 when Mick Dohan won the world title as well. That was on the then two strokes. Need more Aussie World Champs! Shame Stoner retired as he definitely had more in him.

I would love to see this race again because it still excites me to think about it. Casey wins the championship and celebrates his 26 years and Simoncelli makes an amazing race and is 2nd. Unfortunately it is also the last podium of Sic in his life.

Ducati was essentially only competitive in the first year of 800's but then just didn't develop their bike at all after winning all three titles in 2007 and think they can get away with it because of Casey's brilliant talent. Because of this, it took them until 2016 to finally win a race after Casey left them...

Stoner was awesome, able to win on Honda and also able to tame the Ducati which no one else could. Overshadowed by Rossi (aren’t all the riders!) but I think he was absolutely superb.

Casey could have had 4 titles. Lost the 2nd Ducati 2008 title do to lactose intolerance illness. Lost the 2nd Honda 2012 title do to a broken ankle while qualifying at a slippery Indianapolis track that all the riders were complaining about. Dorna made 'em race anyway.

Actually, the illness one your talking about is 2009. And yeah Dorna changing the Bridgestone tyres right after pre-season and that Indy crash hindered him quite a lot

I think it was 2010 when he said that, in japan race 2010 nick harris repeated somthing like "Rossi throwing jives at stoner that he is not pushing the bike hard enough" Rossi has got away with a lot smack talking, media manipulation, and other off track crap. He was lucky there was no social media those days,especially how big an icon he was and will continue to be. Burgess was crap too.
