• The Abandoned Eurostar -~-
View at the Forth Bridge is a unique opportunity, brought to you in partnership with Network Rail and Balfour Beatty, with all profits from the event going to Barnardo's Scotland. This exclusive experience allows you to view the Edinburgh and Fife coastlines as you have never seen them before - from this unique viewing platform 361ft up!
Groups of up to 13 people will arrive on site to check-in, before being taken into our Forth Bridge on-site exhibition hosted by the Briggers. Here you will be told stories about the bridge and the people involved in its construction, through an archive of materials and videos. Following this, you will be given a safety briefing and escorted to the hoist. This is an external metal lift that is on the east side of the North cantilever. Once you are 361ft high on the platform, the group will be guided around the views with particular points of interest highlighted. A photographer will be stationed on the platform in order to capture memories of this once in a lifetime experience.
The Briggers are a Forth Bridge research group based in South Queensferry beside the bridge. Formed to identify the names of the 73 men and boys who died constructing the Forth Bridge, their research continues into the history of the bridge and the people who made and maintain it. The Briggers give Forth Bridge talks to adults and school children and provide consultancy to bridge projects. They also hold a significant archive of images, articles, books and other Forth Bridge material. Their book "The Briggers", written by Edinburgh author and historian Elspeth Wills, is based on their research and tells the story of the Forth Bridge and the men who made it.
