The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com

People need to understand that Kubica is driving in the WRC not because he wanted it, but because he had no choice. After the accident in 2011 he decided to rally in order to help his recovery. He's rallying against people who done it since they were kids, best in the world. It's only his first season in the full spec WRC car, not mentioning that he won in his first year in the WRC-2 category. He's rallying in order to keep recovering and hopefully having a shot at going back to F1 in the future where he belongs. He's rallying for experience too, not for the results. His speed is remarkable, but sadly he needs get more experience. Give him a break, he has been through a lot already. Luckily he doesn't give a shit about dumb comments like below, because he knows what he's doing and people around him and those who know the sport know it too.

To some part I can agree, but he is doing it also because he likes doing it. He can drive in any racing series with roof in the world that he wants but he choosen rallying Those ho really knows more about rallying from driving side knows what talent he is. Of course there are many stupid people that don't understand this sport and just like to throw shit comments here and there to feel better, but ho cares about them ;) I remember when people were bashing Ogier that he is crash driver when he started and crashed twice or three in GB debut, and the same people are his fans now

KRNM0001 That's some weird logic you have. Lets see: when he crashed, year 2011, he was engaged in a full time Formula 1 season, yet he crashed in a Skoda Fabia S2000 rally car while participating in a rally event...why do you think he was doing that? Let me make it clearer for you: he crashed in 2011 but his first rally was in 2004...In fact before the event when he crashed he started 16 rallyes... If he started rallying just because of injury recovery reasons and not because HE LIKES DOING IT...how is it that he started rallying before even crashing...? hmmmm And do you really think that crashing all the time is a way to recover from injuries? And in the same sport that "crippled" him??! Do you really think this way???!!? You are trying to excuse him from his lack of results in WRC, saying that he really doesn't want/like to do it...bullshit, the truth is that he likes doing this as his records shows, and as talented as he is, his arm is still damaged and as he said he is still more of a racing driver which is too much for his ambitions and maybe F.Massa is right (see link). In WRC the variables are just too many and yet, unless your car brakes alone all the time, it's still considered that is up to you to reach the end of a rally, and if you tend to end rallyes then be competitive, don't just "walk" to the finish. Those are the important things. You think they are cruel with Robert? read about Latvala, Novikov, Hirvonen...WRC fans are cruel. Take this links, read them, very very interesting and will teach you about Robert take on Rally: www.ewrc-results.com/profile.php?p=8567&t=Robert-Kubica www.worldrallyblog.com/2014/06/24/interview/robert-kubica-interview-must-miss/ duncanblog.dailymail.co.uk/2011/02/what-was-robert-kubica-doing-rallying-in-the-first-place.html en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/160687.html www.redbull.com/en/motorsports/offroad/stories/1331646655363/robert-kubica-paddle-shift-system Some quotes from him: "Actually I know, I’m a racing driver" "I’m not on the level to treat them the way I used to treat circuit racing - which doesn’t mean rallies are only a hobby for me." "It is not my target to attend rallies only to nurse the car to the finish, to score points for 6th, 7th or 5th place. I have a different target[...]I’m an ambitious man, at least I think of myself this way, and I expect a lot from myself." "Of course there are some improvements, but in reality I’m doing rallies as a full time job. [...] So I’m either focused on one thing or not. I’m driving in a very difficult championship and I need a full commitment." "I agree, in many moments I’m “lacking a hand”.." "Rallies can give you a lot of satisfaction, but they also don’t forgive - they can give you everything or nothing, can be ungrateful." "...I believe it is not the peak of my dreams to drive in world championship just to drive. I’m competing in WRC and I am happy that thanks to my partners and sponsors I have this possibility" "I believe patience, toughness and time are fundamental in rallying." Kubica loves F1 the most, and next to it, it seem to be rally. Get over it.

Is it just the video quality is bad? I have an impression that the visibility is poor. The way Kubica corrects pilot's notes while driving so fast and hard rally is very impressive.

I am starting to know how to read notes, I find it lifesaving in Dirt 1 in Unknown corners. 1 means very tight one and so on to 6 which is the fast corner.

Hey, since Kubica was pretty good in F1 but constantly crashes in WRC, maybe Maldonado can be very good in WRC (?)
@twingnol
@twingnol 10 лет назад
He constantly learns how to drive in WRC so accidents, moments etc. are the part of this proces for now. His tempo is incredible. In France everything was ok, except last SS. Next season is the first in wich we can expect lot of championship points and driving without crashing.
@Kayspaify
@Kayspaify 10 лет назад
Michał Majewski Both him and Maldonado don't learn. At least Kubica has major talent, he can go fast, but his number of mistakes doesn't decrease.
@Dominatorwasi
@Dominatorwasi 10 лет назад
Kayspaify there was no other driver that jumped so straight to wrc without any rally development, and straight forward he has amazing pace against top wrc driver driving on pacenotes only Raikkonen is similiar case, but he was crashing also but driving a lot slower He knew it will be hard, and he said he need 2-3 years of development in wrc. He could propably finish a lot more rallies this year with strong points, but he is not interested in getting places 4, 5 ,6 he is targeting for something more in future, and is trying to learn faster way Ogier was also crashing a bit when he jumped to WRC, not mentioning Latvala for many years. And Kubica has a lot less years of experience than them.
@twingnol
@twingnol 10 лет назад
Kayspaify maybe because he is driving WRC car on these rallies for the first time. Last year he drove a lot of them with RRC car, but it isn,t the same story. Monte, Sweden, Mexico, Argentina, Australia he saw for the first time.
