I agree, us lower tier players really are helped by watching skill do the thing he does best. Love the commentary on strategy, and love all the details about the tanks. Many bananas to our wonderful skill.
When WG reworked these mid tier tanks they ruined several tanks and I sold them all. The KV1S at t5 with the derp was a very fun tank and now it is useless. I also liked the T5 VK that was converted to a med, sold it as well as the T6 VK converted from a med to heavy, sold. WG changed these 3 tanks without really adjusting their characteristics enough.
I will say KV-85 is the KV-1S and this tank just stole the name. Also this used to be tier 5 but moved up a tier nearly unchanged when WG reworked all tech trees. My opinion is KV-1S should be a tier 5 collector's vehicle and KV-85 should take the tech tree spot.
Before it was a tier 5, it was a tier 6 and that is when it was OP. This was before the Swedish, Italian, polish, Czech lines. Back int day lad, when used to walk 26 miles to school ... 😜
@@whazzup_teacup whilst I get what you are saying, the kv85 is still a shadow of what the kv1s used to be. Doesn't have the fear factor of 390 alpha either
It pretty well reflects it's real-world counterpart: the real KV-1S cannot be considered a good tank. They tried to address the problem of the KV-1's heavy weight, and while that particular ascpect was successful, the solution made the tank rather surplus: the T-34 could do the same job for a lesser cost. Lucky for us, we can actually put an 85mm gun on this, something the real KV-1S did not have the benefit of. I think the KV-85 should have been the tier 6 TT tank, and the KV-1S been put in the collector's bin, since the KV-85 was actually a work-up to the IS tank.
Hi Skill, I'm the HTC guy and I am here to thank you agian for dancing with me and for the atention and love ❤ you are the best wot player in my opinion and playing with you and also apearing in ut vid it's a humooooooongus boost that day I played over 40 games and I was very tired so that COMPLETELY made my day, it was a dream wich came true, long live king baboon💪💪💪
KV-1S should have been a collector's vehicle, and left at tier V. All they needed to do for the KV-85, was give it two (2!) extra degrees of gun depression, and it would have been fine. But no, some mid-manager self proclaimed genius that somehow has a call on these things apparently went "Ivan! Drop KV-85, put KV-1S at tier IV and remove all good gun options! People will love! Da!"
Back in the day when KV-1S used to be a tier 5 heavy it was a great tank, a worthy opponent to KV-1, but after Wargaming put it one tier higher in tier 6 without any buffing whatsoever it just became very weak, its still a tier 5 heavy wich nowadays gotta face tier 8 opponents... sad story
It started at Tier 6 then was nerfed and dropped to Tier 5. Now they've put it back up to Tier 6 but haven't returned it to how it used to be 10 years ago. Just as well because it was one of the most OP tanks in the game.
It's kinda nice... P.S. i was using the 122mm gun when i was trying to ace it... And lol first try Mountain Pass almost 3.7 k dmg and 9 frags... 👌😎👍 but still i was lucky with rng... So i would rate it playable too but close to good... 🙄
WG ruins all the fun in the game - all good tanks gets nerfed and destroyed. 'Tho shall NOT have fun they say! I bet that's their agenda to all tanks that once was great. KV-1S, FV4005, KV-2, The 5-shell autoloader TD - that was infact the reason I started playing WOT. When I finally got it and played with it for a half year they removed it and replaced it with that POS Grille 15. I don't know why I am still playing this game anymore 'cause YOU SHALL NOT HAVE FUN!!! - That's my opinnion.... - But Skill4ltu: You do a great job! Tnx buddy! - from Arnt in Norway!
This tank is the biggest pile of crap in the IS7 line. They shouldve have a tank with the 100mm / 250alpha gun in this position, it would lead nicely to the 390 alpha tanks.
Not for the kv-1s, but I think you need to re-evaluate the T(rash) 103. I think it is actually good. A sniper when you are bottom tier, a hull down heavy/side scraper when you are top tier. Not amazing gun handling, but it is pretty good. Great pen and alpha damage. Definitely not a front line tank unless you are top tier. I have 800 average experience with it. 3k combined on average, which for me is great averages.
This tank would be fine without that -5 degrees depression. I honestly hate the tank so much for that. On flat maps I've had monster games in this thing but anything that involves any sort of gun depression at all become just awful to play.
thanks for the good advise in video. i have KV1S unlocked recently but not started playing it now (still in T1-Heavy for M6 and for Yoh line). I think i will omit the derp gun and just go straight to IS then. Please make Video on Skoda T40 (day??? alot)
The KV-1S is also good to play with the 122mm S-41 howitzer. I successfully double-marked the KV-1S when it was still Tier V and will try to triple-mark it...with the 1300 damage you need for the 3rd gunmark it will be pretty easy. The 85mm cannon is pretty good...with the cannon it's a big T34-85M. I drive the KV-1S with ventilation, gun rammer and an experimental turbo or gun laying drive. I play it with the 122mm S-41 howitzer with HEAT and HE. I mainly use HEAT. At Tier V it had 140mm penn and now 150mm on tier VI. With that you can clean up well as a top tier and against VIIs. A great vehicle that you can still have a lot of fun with. I finally have the third Gunmark on the KV-1S and have had some very good battles of 2500-4000 damage and must say that it is still fun to play and it looks very nice. Whereby it belongs again at Tier V and the KV-85 normally belongs in the Tech Three at Tier VI. ❤
Back in the day before it was nerfed and dropped to Tier 5 this tank ruled the battlefield. One of the most OP tanks in the game. Funnily enough I preferred, and did better in, the T-150 myself.
This tank was a only a painful path towards the amazing IS (which I recently got first mark on). On the last leg of the grind I just pooled my credits playing other tanks and spammed gold with the 122mm PP. After unlocking the IS i sold it immediately.
Skill... I disagree! KV-1S is as good as a T-34-85M, if not a tiny touch better. Though it is a little slower and has a little less base viewrange, it has way better gunhandling, slightly higher DPM and more hitpoints. Armor its almost the same as the premium med. Overall it is way better to play this instead of T-34-85 or any other T6 russian heavy tank.
Skill you should told your viewers about this old, east European tradition: When you visit close people on some important occasion, for example wedding or funeral - you drink. When you drink enough you stand in front of another man, with your pp raised, staring directly into his... eyes, and important part is to say something nice about his "gun" : nice caliber, pretty barrel, fine derp. It was very important way of making friends and fighting with toxic masculinity.! Shame it's no longer common, but old ways got it's charm! ;)
I strongly disagree on the "playable" or even "useless" judgement. This tank packs a whopping 2,7k dpm as a heavy with decent mobility and will dominate as a toptier. As lowtier, you want to aim at soft targets and play the medium role as seen in this video. Getting 4k combined every other game was unimaginable with other tanks, except the skoda t25 maybe. I love how everyone is reciting skill4ltu here like they've played the tank recently because you've definitely not. The only real shitty thing about this tank is the gun depression. Other than that, amazing allrounder without the need of premium rounds.
The KV-85 is what the KV-1S used to be. I can remember too when the KV-1S was god-like 11 years ago. I even had 6 or 7 or even 8 kills with that heavy tank wayy long before the all the changes took place.
kv1s is not good. becuz heavies have to go somewhere, they cannot choice. becuz there are not many heavies. but enemy has kv-2 almost of the games. and you will die at once easily. heavies in tier6 are simple. [armored vs HE vs fast] and it's hard to overcome this chain for my opinion.
aaaah, memories, when a T4 tank had about 400hp, i remember getting matched with tier 4's and oneshotting most of them, good old times (had 390 alpha at T6)
Skill I know the KV-1S isn't good as a heavy, but lately I tried building and playing it like a T-34-85M and it works actually really well, like how someone would play a KV-13. I have improved hardening, turbo and gun rammer on it. This actually plays like the 85m except a major advantage is a huge 1,250 hit points, it even keeps up with it mobility wise. I feel like its not bad anymore, it just changed identity.
I'm just after looking this up a bit more. Yes, it did. That confused me at the time. I was sure there was a brilliant tank down the tree somewhere, I just couldn't find it anymore. I tried to convince myself it must be the IS-1 I was playing. No, it was not! lol
After playing KV1 for farming credit, I decided to glide to Obj. 705, and this KV1S is my nightmare. It worse than KV1 a lot and I never be happy playing this tank.
11,000 WoT rating wow. that tank seems fast, I am kind just returning and getting a feel for the new game engine, but I noticed my KV -220 -2 still has armor that works as took 3750 blocked in a win and that's been a long time coming. Tier VI in been field modding my Tiger 131 as my go to heavy as it still has that sweet 8.8 and at level VI mod now with 4 skill crew / vent /net /turbo and net/binocular/turbo, you can't run camo on the 131 so you need a net and crew skills when you want to hide.
There is a decal "Bring KV1-S Back" and I think there is much reasoning behind it :). Actually this version of KV1-S works fine with the derp as a brawler and gold - I hate gold, but some tanks are balanced to Function only with gold-spam. GG WG!
The KV 1S was one of the best tanks to use in tier 6 skirmishes. It had a 122mm gun and all the alpha damage one could use. It took 11 seconds to load a shell. The VK3601 use to be a medium tank and it was the major competition to the KV 1S. I miss the good ole' days... hated to see them go.....
I was kinda hoping to see another one of those glorious derp videos like the one from yesterday but sadly Skill used all of his luck during the Ikv video.
Just why though, one has a cannon with great damage, penetration and reliable armor, the other is a KV-1S which is just a plain downgrade from a T-34-85M
once upon a time kv1SPORT put fear into the enemies, tigers ran, snapshots were hit and IS was pretty much useless because it only had more hp and bit more armor
I got into WoT only recently and after grinding through KV-1(S)uffering, the IS was a breeze of fresh air. That alfa damage and mobility. One of my very first marks of excellence (though only 1 for now)
Being new to WoT and currently grinding this tank, I am so sick of ppl telling me to push with the T1 Heavy and Pawlack tanks like idk what I'm doing. This is by far a hill/cover sniper played best like a medium, your gun can't pen T7 heavies in a duel, any T6 Heavy will out bounce and out damage you when fighting around corners. Perch on a safe line and use the long guns high accuracy and rate of fire to put shots into medium/TD/light targets, and try to track heavies where you can unless you can get side/rear shots in for damage.
I have the KV-1S and it's barely playable. I have to use the big gun and fire gold to do anything with it. I also have the IS which is almost as bad, but not quite.
Sounds like you problem. IS has the best alfa damage in the tier among heavies. Combined with mobility, it's really good for the tier. Armour is shit, but just don't get hit.
