@@estherkirakawaii "On December 14, 2017, The Walt Disney Company officially acquired 21st Century Fox for $52.4 Billion dollars, which in turn means that Disney owns the rights to the now twenty-year-old Anastasia film. ... Both Leia and Anastasia were acquired princesses so it leaves them at a strange halfway point." Is what google said when I asked if Disney bought her.
same as all the above, it reminds me of past lives and in the movie Anastasia asks Dimitri if he was a vulture? in another life. I saw a medium once who said one of my past lives was Russian and that it was an upper class life watching royal ballets around the time of Anastasia's life which was shocking for two reasons, one I've always loved this movie since I was a child and as an adult and two, I have four cousins who were adopted from Russia and one is named Anastasia but goes by Ana. The movie and the songs do bring up that feeling of faint memories of the past and could go further into past life if one is open to that. Beautiful song.
Theres a term that i always forget, that essentially is a feeling of nostalgia for a time/time period that you werent ever alive in and didnt experience
@Its ADORABLE If you're on a laptop you can double click and the option to loop it comes up- I don't think you can do it from a phone or something though QwQ
@@dreamfyre3868 what? I thought anastasia survives and everyone is still trying to found the run away princess? And that time, people are saying they are the reincarnation of anasthasia when they are not...
Liz Callaway's stage performance of this when she was 56 8 years ago sounds just like the way she sang it on the original soundtrack in 1997..how is that possible...she still hits and holds every high note like 20 years ago. She is amazing.
I might sound weird but I wanna become a Russian dutchess now but I would probably die.you know why if you know what anastasia is based off of.(the Russian revolution anastasia's whole family was shot to death including her :..( )
I first watched this in November a few years back. Went and looked up the lyrics so I could sing it at Christmas. Voice was terrible back then, but my family loved it :P
It's like someone is sending a whisper of sadness from the time period of the story. Losing everything you ever knew in sudden violence. Like imagine being used to silks and cold champagne dancing in the Winter Palace to being homeless and starving.
I passed all my childhood listening to the French lyrics version (because I’m French) and here I come for the first time learn the English originals lyrics. That’s SO different that I want to share French version translate in English, for those who might be interested: FAR FROM THE COLD OF DECEMBER: Images come back to me Like a loving memory Of an old ritornello Formerly in December I remember it seems to me Games we invented together I find in a smile Flames of my memories I remember it seems to me Games we invented together I find in a smile Flames of my memories And far away, an echo Like an ember under the ashes A half-whisper That my heart wants to understand An old ritornello Far from the cold of December Thanks for reading 😊
@@maryqueen8043 i speak english arabic and french ( like most north africans ) and i feel so dumb for never looking up this song in arabic thank you for reminding my dumb ass
The saddest song i ever heard. As a child i didn't know Anastasia was based on a real person. When ive found out what happened to her and her family. Gosh 💔
They kinda deserved it. Kinda. Her father was an actual monster, and if the revolutionaries had been dumb enough to let even one of them leave, it would have likely guaranteed a civil war. Kinda sad to kill the children too, but in that case it's the lesser evil.
@@gregoriocitti4018 Don't be dramatic. No matter what I could do or say, there is no way I could commit crimes that are even remotely close to those of the Romanovs. Though, to be fair, the revolutionaries could have spared the children. Just sterilize them to make sure the Romanov line ends with them, and they can live in a remote cabin in Alaska, whose location would be a state secret, and under surveillance of course.
Dancing bears, Painted wings, Things I almost remember, And a song someone sings, Once upon a December. Someone holds me safe and warm, Horses prance through a silver storm, Figures dancing gracefully across my memory Someone holds me safe and warm, Horses prance through a silver storm, Figures dancing gracefully across my memory. Far away, Long ago, Glowing dim as an ember, Things my heart used to know, Things it yearns to remember And a song someone sings Once upon a December
What a haunting chilling beautiful song, and the (true) history behind this sad tale makes it all the more so. One of my favorite movies as a child. This song is even more beautiful in its native Russian..!
Kaybear Richardson oh geez man idk, all I know is it says “to get the add on to watch this, go to your account settings.” Idk which though. But good luck :))
I also had it on cassette, but I was so small that I was terrified by rasputin so I used to hate the movie, then i rewatched it a few years ago and i enjoy it now
My names Ania (pronounced as an-ya) and i have a very cool back story on how i got it. Basically one day while my sister was watching this, she always wanted to have a little sister named 'Anastasia' but since my mom was preggo at the time she decided to use my sisters idea but instead use the nickname when Anastasia was lost and since my sister loved Barbie, my full name is now "Annika" (bcs of princess Annika, idk if i spelt it right but yeah.... it was a barbie movie idk where but yeah) and tbh i like Anastasia more ;(. But good thing i wasn't named "The Phantom" bcs my sister loved "The phantom of the opera" and since the phantom is 'ugly' (even tho he isn't) my sister wanted to name "The Phantom" cause i would grow up ugly (i mean she was right lol) But yeah. That's the backtory of my name lol
this song truly is the definition of "hauntingly beautiful", it will be stuck in the dark chambers at the back of your mind forevermore and it will be the last thing you will ever remember
I feel like it would be disrespectful for the real Anastasia for someone to dress up as her and entertain people and get money for it. She got murdered with her whole family at the age of 18 let her rest in peace.
Hello to all my English-speaking friends. I'm from Russia. I am glad to hear that you are praising this song (although it is not according to our copyright, but according to our style and motives). In our country there have always been the most exquisite banquets, balls, celebrations. Many people here ask how Anastasia died, I will answer like this. She died together with her family, the Bolshevik movement due to the inept rule of her father (World War 1, stagnation of agricultural production, abdication of the throne), the latter became fatal for the Romanov family.... since the people have lost faith in the dynasty. Thus ended the centuries-old rule.... the people had to kill everyone so that a new civil war would not ignite. when I hear this song, I find myself in my fantasy on the 18th century, at the ball in the winter palace... p.s sorry for my English
@@ЛюРи-ю7ь the movie which is the origin for the song potrayed the myth about Anastasia that she survived thus sprung many impostors to which is the plot of the movie which the song originated
Ok, I’m Russian as well and you c*nt should cease spreading disinformation. If you want to know what happened read the wiki it’s a lot more informative and reliable than any paid troll on the internet
My best friend who’s name was Anya and she told me about this movie, how there was a movie about a girl named Anya and how she got hit by a train. She moved away and years later I saw this movie and remembered her. Excuse me while I cry in nostalgia
A moment of silence to those who don't know that she's a real princess that got executed with her family and it took forever to find her body while other girls were claiming to be the lost anastasia rip princess
This song is going to play at my wedding (If and when I do lol), not for me and my husband but for me and my dad. There is no changing my mind, at all!
I feel like this could be turned into a villain song, okay hear me out: The antagonist singing this beautiful melody, as they dance around gracefully throughout a world that burns and is filled with madness. They dance and sing, as things burn and weird creatures beyond your understanding wander the land, the beautiful symphony describing the new world that they've created. And as they finish their little song, they curtsy infront of all the destruction and somesort of 'palace' they created with the wreckage. Something beautiful yet sickening at the same time. I suck at writing but I tried 💀
Anastasia was such a underrated Disney princess and it’s so sad of what happened to the real Anastasia and the whole Romanov family Russia gets so much hate but they can’t help that it’s what there leader makes them do to Ukrainians and yes I’m posting this comment in 2023 I’m just so sad that Anastasia was only 17 too when she died her whole family was shot to death
Anastasia Nikolaevna, is loosely based on the real Romanov Family Massacre. In the movie Anastasia survives. But in the true history story Anastasia actually died with her family. She was only 17 and married. She was born July 18th, 1901, and died June 17th, 1918. She was assassinated in the Ipatiev House, Russia with the rest of her family
When I saw the movie I thought it was a random movie my mom had found and we watched. Honestly it was 10/10 movie but I would love to see it again because it had so much meaning to it. Whomever was not seen it I totally recommended it. What happened to her after is so sad tho🥺
I used to sing this to my little girl to put her to sleep. Before she was even a year old her mother left and took her away. Now that I get to see her a little bit I can see a puzzling look on her face like see remembers the song but doesn't know why....this song brings happiness and heartache at the same time
This really brings back to my childhood. It's just so nostalgic. I remember singing this and dancing around in my kitchen and other times singing this while swinging on the swings at school. Good times.
Im from Albania and I study history a lot about, mostly, European countries history. Before, as a child, watching this and thought that this is just a product of Disney but when time pass, and I grew, I started to make research about Anastastia and especially for Romanov family and as much I search as much I fall in love with this family and when I started to learn history about this family, i found out that the ending of this family was so bad but still I love this story and Romanov family. Big respect for this family and for Russia.
Well the king was horrible he let his people suffer and die 🌚 but the wife and children had no part but killed because they didn’t want the Romanov royal bloodline to continue
I sometimes look at the devastation towards my family in the revolution being left alone to cope alone and think about before life turned out the way it did and how happy at home I was!
For my non history ppl Basically the bulsherviecs (or however you spell there last name) Wanted to over throw the tsar empire so I think they imprisoned the Romanov family and killed them but 3 if the sisters (i think) didn't get killed by gun, bc there corests has many gems on them, so I think they poisoned the girls and Anastasia escaped with a boy (he helped her) and then the empress (her grandma or smth) was looking for her and everyone was pretending to be her but yeah idk if I'm 100 percent correct but that's the basics
I got the music box from the play ya know at the end of the play and the beginning they sell merchandise for the play I bought a music box and man it keeps playing at night randomly so creepy. Ya know ur house is haunted when
I hate the person (or multiple people) who ordered the family’s death. They should have their bodies (or whatever remains of their own bodies) ripped apart limb from limb. Especially the one(s) who killed the Tsar’s children.
I watched this when I was like 5 and I haven’t hear it since. I’m 15 now and I just started bawling the MiNuTe this started playing :’) oh my childhood just tHis
