This is just an excerpt of the complete documentary, "Once Upon a Time: Sergio Leone", which is 50 minutes long. This particular section about OUATIA is also not complete and it's edited to remove a section about what Leone was doing while he was trying to secure the rights to the book, The Hoods. The complete documentary is also on RU-vid, but it might be hard to find in once piece.
Look at how many Oscars Kubrick and hell even Scorsese have also. The Old Hollywood elite run the Oscars, and I feel they are biased against New York City based filmmakers.
@@PastPerspectives3 , I have nothing against Kubrick, but Sergio Leone was simply brilliant and together with Ennio Morricone... a dream couple!! It's a shame that Leone had to leave so early.
Max got it! he explains in the mansion scene at the end. “I took everything. I took your money. I took your goil (girl). All I left for you was years of grief over having killed me. Now, why don’t you shoot?” I don’t know how (or why or when) Max put the key back in Fat Moe’s Grandfather clock. That part was not in the screenplay, probably to increase the mystery. Max put the key back to make noodles think all three were killed in the raid on the truck that rainy night. Noodles thought Fat Moe got the money. I’ve seen this about 20 times. I drive my wife crazy repeating s9me of the lines. :-)
they also don’t show Max and Deborah hooking up… but that must have been happening when Noodles was in prison. in the scene where Noodles gets out and gets back with the old gang in Fat Moe’s nightclub…. When Noodles and Deborah get back together… you can tell Max is annoyed that Noodles and Deborah are talking. then, next scene Deborah goes to Hollywood. They leave a lot out to make you wonder what’s going on. I watched it a few times before I caught it all.
@@DaMensch86 ... MAX wasn't killed... Remember... One body was burned in the face... in that shot on the rainy night and the cops shot them up.... That was someone else. Noodles looked at that face and turns his head, questioning it for a second.
It *is* a harsh film and there are some parts that are very off-putting - but that lends itself to its realism. It never shows *too* much, in my opinion.
