Hi Nicole. Watching this video and reading about Oncidium Twinkle orchids sparked my intrest. So I ordered 1 to try out. Oncidium Gold Dust. Well it came in today and it has a spike with buds. The orchid was packed Very Well. Then there was another package in the box. I unpacked it a d it was a bonus Oncidium Gold Dust. Well it made my day and just watching this video made my day as well. It's suppose to smell like sweet honey and I'm getting that fragrance from the first tiny bud which has not opened yet. I thought I would share this with you. Have a wonderful day Nicole and everyone
I'm learning a lot on this CareCollab 😅👍🏼👍🏼 I hope I can put all into practice and keeo my Red Fantasy happy. Thank you, Nicole, for joining in despite your super busy schedule to ❤🌸
Nice assortment of miniature oncidiums. Mine gets some dappled afternoon sun and I've never had light issues. It seems dryness to be more a problem. I do have accordion leaves in summer but seems to correct itself after a good watering. My biggest gripe are the slow developing spikes and the messy flower drop once they fade 😁
Ours was placed temporarily under our crappier lights (just one strip of kitchen lights) that we usually use only for paphs, and it surprised us with 5 spikes, so I'd agree that they do not need very strong light. Great video!
I do keep mine in the lowest shelf as you watched mine… but I actually thought it would take brighter light. I didn’t know that many people had problem with burnt leaves for placing it at higher light level spot. 🤷🏻♂️ good to see your video. Again, congrats! Hopefully your husband loves plants also. 🤫🤣
I have the twinkle Marguerite. I agree they are very easy to grow and are a cute little orchid, but they can be messy when they finish blooming. Thanks for the too much light tip. I have a few orchids that have the yellowing leaves. I’ll back off the lights. 👏🤗🎄
I agree that when they are done you're left with a big mess lol. I end up pulling off the didn't blooms before they fall off 😂 let me know how it goes with the lights!
Hey Nicole. Enjoy your holidays. After watching your video and a few others I think I need to move mine as they are getting higher light than that of my other Oncidium. Love that bloom show! Came home to a bud opening today- a day late 😂
The twinkles are so rewarding to grow, and yours all look great! I'll keep the light level recommendations in mind, because I do get some leaf yellowing on my Tsiku Marguerite. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Good morning Nicole, wedding and twinkles, a nice mix ! ? I have two oncidium twinkles a CT white strong and a reddish one. They grow 14 hours under led lights, 800 foot candle at foliage level, they are doing well under those conditions, no leaf yellowing. The relative humidity varies between 40 and 50 and I water (soak) them once every 4th day. I was expecting "Mendelssohn" in your intro.
Hey Nicole, great video. Mine is in full bloom now and yes I learnt the hard way that it do not like too much light. Lol. One of mine is still recovering from that. Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Как удобно,что субтитры на русском есть, за это особая благодарность. У меня впервые за 3 года начинает цвести онцидиум твинкл, но почему то цветочков не так много. Может он потом наращивает в период цветения?
This is one of those "love it or hate it" orchid fragrances and I am in the "hate it" category, it stinks. To the point that it lives outside and I won't even get near it when it is in bloom. I brought it in to photograph last year and it took a while for it to dissipate, I doubt I'll be doing that again.
I know what you mean. I like the fragrance in the morning, in the afternoon it turns very grassy for me. They are cute, but if you like the blooms it's better to have one in a nice color vs too many since they are so vigorous and kind of repetitive. I do like that small divisions take off well. Hope you're well Michael, and that you're geared up for a good Christmas!
