i have tried to answer your queries. 1. first of all there is no proof of any magnet in konark, although people for generations tell this story. Even if there was a magnet it could not be made of any metal. it must be a natural found stone (here: load-stone) of magnetic power. The natural magnet's lifespan is small. So even if he finds a magnetic stone it will not help much in balancing the temple height of about 230 feet. 2. for your second query about floating idol of lord Surya, it also has not such substantive proof. the reason is if the idol of Lord Surya is floating then why was there a Ratnasinghasana. 3. for the third query, it is true that konark temple is built in such a fashion that in every month and every season of the year, the rays of sun are directed into the foot of Surya Idol in the Garbhagriha. But to get the same effect the new temple should be on the same latitude as that of current temple. well, lets hope that he built a new sun temple, although original is original. But, watching the current conservation practice, do you think that the current sun temple in konark will stand atleast half a century. We should encourage him building a new temple instead of criticising him. These are all my observations from studying on Konark from different sources and books.
