Congrats! You’re actually doing better than most so-called 1 bag travelers, who tend to have massive amounts of unnecessary crap. Impressed you found pack lighter, a staple for ultralight backpackers.

Thanks! I have some friends who are big into hiking so I leaned on them for some ideas on how to save weight and they pointed me towards lighterpack. I love that website!

Every time I heard you say 'two of...' I thought, 'there's a potential saving right there!' plus I guess it wasn't anywhere near Europe because that bag is easily too big for a personal item here!

Haha yes definitely still overpack despite my best efforts. I was actually in Europe but it worked as a carry on for the one flight we took on Ryanair. The rest was train travel :) and Asia we were fine as well

Great job on this. I love how detailed you were on everything thank you. I'm going on a 6 month trip around asia starting in cold japan/korea and ending in hot southeast asia so this is perfect to be prepared for both climates.

Hey Brandon! I went with 8 liters which is enough for ~ 1 outfit. If you go the sea to summit dry sack route, I really like the ones with the window as it allows you to see the contents while you clean it!

Oh and the boxers I use are: Ex officio give-n-go boxer briefs but I also have a couple pair of Uniqlo airism which pack down smaller and dry quicker but aren't as anti microbial imo.

what is the mouth sore thing? i get sores/ulcers too. does it work? my wife swears by debactoral but it's prescription.... also, i found the most amazing electric nose hair trimmer that is compact but how well does that mechanical one work?

The mechanical one is... Ok but not great. Definitely sometimes it tears more that it cuts which isn't great. There is Kanka which just puts like a little cover over it and shields it which is amazing. Then there is oralmedic which is basically the same but I think helps cure them faster too.

not sure if you mentioned this, but does your laptop charger have an AC adapter built in? if not it might ruin the laptop

Not quite sure what you mean? But the adapter we have hasn't caused any problem so far.

@@onebagoneworld sorry I misspoke, I meant a voltage converter! a voltage converter will reduce voltage to make it safe for your devices (most north american devices are built for lower voltage than the rest of the world, and using a hire voltage can blow out the battery)

I’m just wrapping up a 1 year trip. But it was multi season-so many things I would do differently. The crime and cold really made the one 40L bag tough. Thanks for sharing. Merino is brittle. At 6 months I needed to change some of mine out. Matador is awesome. I have their daypack too. My MacBook Pro is way too heavy. I wish I had upgraded my iPad Pro and just had that. I also didn’t transition to barefoot shoes until 2/3 into the trip. It would have totally changed my foot where space and weight. I almost want to redo the year and try it with different gear 😅😂😅

Yes absolutely! Ounces make pounds as they say :) Barefoot shoes are an awesome way to save space if they work for you. For merino wool I find that nylon + merino blends worked best for me in terms of durability. I really like W&P's ~77/23 mixture or whatever ratio it is. It gives the wool that extra durability and I never experienced pilling with those shirts.

I brought 3! 2 Darn tough ankle socks and 1 darn tough no shows. It looks like 1 of my ankle socks has developed a hole but I think it was one of the pairs I ware for the 2 years+ before we left and not one of the newer ones which probably explains it. So far 3 seems to be the sweet spot for not too many and not too few.

Haha yeah me too honestly. I flew out with a down jacket and an r1 fleece from Patagonia but then left it with my family in Switzerland since we were going to spend the next ~ 6 months in hit tropical weather. I actually picked up a $16 fleece from decathlon just for cold flights that will probably hold me over for awhile. Fits in my bag and didn't break the bank.

Yep! The toothpaste was but the sunscreen stick has been fine, it's like a deodorant stick except it's sunscreen, great for emergencies.

Didn't realise, but I actually watched Bree's video b4 yours. Wished she'd fully modeled the clothes like you did, rather than holding them up in front of her. Was hard to understand the pros and cons she was mentioning without actually seeing them on

Haha, as gross as it sounds to some, yes absolutely and I have done it. I wouldn't say the same for my Airism though which is why I actually brought both. Airism are lighter, pack smaller, and dry quicker, but ex-officio's fight odor better and honestly drying time doesn't matter that much since they most dry out in one night's worth of sleep.
