Giving it a 6 on 10 is still pretty good. He even said that he's not a "parm guy". And even asked "How would you rate it?". If that's not fair and balanced then I don't know what is. I'm not a parm guy either. It often makes it taste salty to me. Now if it's on bread sticks.......
I like Dave's reviews. I don't think people understand if you can get a 7-8 out of 10 from him, you have a good pizza. It's a simple concept, make a good pizza.
I swear people throw around "Start a business" as much as "Have some children". Not everyone is fit to be a parent and not everyone is fit to open shop. Just because they _can_ doesn't mean they _should..._
I can't recall a single time I've been in a restaurant where the owner was a complete confrontational asshole and the food wasn't dogshit. This guy's pizza was clearly mid, and he knew it, which is why I believe the owner got so pissy. Except for one time when the owner was a total asshole, but they had really good authentic Chicago pizza and Vienna beef hotdogs, but that's it. The owner in the video argues and acts like a petulant woke lib. Edit: I posted this before the 14-minute mark, and I'm not at all surprised the owner is who he is. Nailed it.

The funniest part about this is he says “I don’t appreciate you judging a pizza by one bite” but if you’ve ever actually watched Dave’s reviews he doesn’t take one bite of the pizza he usually takes way more than one 😂 then judges it, and sometimes he’ll even say he got it wrong if he believes it deserves a higher score or do re reviews of a business. The guy is just genuinely just a decent person, and trying to help small businesses.
I love parmesan. Like other comments said, I'd put that on my pizza list to try. But when you have an owner who acts like this just turns customers away. You're gonna get bad reviews and people aren't always gonna agree with you, but being level-headed about things is how to keep good business and grow as a person.
I use aged parm on all my pizzas at home, but I'd never give my money to someone like this. I applaud people who take the risk to create businesses, but abhor people who demand that I donate my body to big pharma for pizza.
Even if I did not like Dave, what he should have done is ask him how the pizza was. Dave would have probably said its not bad , but he doesn't like parmesan and replied with I'll quickly make you another one with whatever cheese you'd like on the house. His business would have exploded after that.
😂 It’s the zoom in on the shirt for me. He’s raising money for small businesses and helping pizza lovers find great pizza across the country. Dave Portnoy is awesome for this
Shout out to Dave Portnoy for standing his ground! He did amazing job for helping small businesses during the pandemic. That woke bitter pizza owner that yelled and screamed at Dave for no reason just ended his own career.
That's typically how people on the right rely on getting their information. Pay no attention to actual real world events, and wait for their favorite online personality to tell them how to think.

I thought the same thing. I coat my pizza in parmesan so that pizza would probably be near perfect for me, but I won't be giving that nerd any of my money now.
The bantering Between both of those guys is so wholesome its like you could sit down near them on a sidewalk bench and and take in the sunny brisk day enjoying life while the chimes of everyday life ignites through the blissful air
That pizza guy is going to blame Dave's review for his business failing, and not the fact he acted like an ass hat on camera to someone who was trying to help some random pizzeria he found.
I love how passionate Brett is! And thanks, didn't know how Dave helped the small businesses. My dad owned his own business, and you have no idea how significant his help was to these struggling, hard working people.
I personally have driven all around the East Coast and tried 20+ pizza places because of Dave's scores. I'm not the only one... if that doesn't help sales for these places NOTHING does.
I personally DON'T believe that a bad review from Portnoy is going to hurt any local pizza shops as they have their own following of customers that like their food....
I"m hard pressed to find a review of his that's below a 7 out of 10. All I hear from detractors is that he hurts business. How? Even when he doesn't like it he usually says, "If you like it this way, the score is probably higher."
@bcdrummer1962 that's the thing daves score wouldn't have been the end of his business that's what's great about portnoys reviews a bad score doesn't kill your business but a good score massively helps your business
hey brett! watch you at least once or twice a week, i love the knowledge you fill me with as a young girl in my sophmore year. you definitely help me word things better when in a debate! thank you!
@@joshscott6914I wouldn't patronize any business where the owner acted like this. The owner acts like a weirdo, picking a fight with someone because he doesn't like his politics.
The funny thing is that Dave will almost always give a decent or great score to a small business, and he's consistently given the big corporate chains bad scores.
The best part is it's never just one bite - he always breaks the rules. Every time I watch his reviews I get the urge to eat pizza and apply the rules.
Sorry but for once, I totally and greatly dislike your video. For 2 reasons : 1. You talk about making it political. And that's what you did. Those 2 guys have an argument about something that is not political at all and then you start examining his political views that he posted months or even years ago... 2. Your last sentence is totally true and yet you totally miss the point. You say maybe now he might realize the power that Dave Portnoy have to small business... That's the point he totally realized it before the incident. The guy comes, take one pizza, take one bite and then will make an opinion on the business that would give huge benefits to the business or destroy it. So for the small business owner that works decades to make his business, Dave Portnoy play russian roulette with it !
@@porscheoscar doesn’t have anything to do with what I said and those are not facts they are accusations. Move along if you disagree with my actual statement.
Man of the people? He laid off 100 of his workers after he cashed in a considerable share of $500 million dollars. Man of the people would have made cuts in big shot executives salaries, renegotiated vendor contracts, cut expenses, etc... basically made the lay offs a dead last resort.
Like him or hate him, he does know good pizza places. His questionable pizza toppings are w/e lol but he is right every place I've went rated by Dave is legit.
Based on the sales increases the idiot owner proved portnoy right when he said he helps businesses. Imagine a restaurant getting pissed at a food review...
Am I under a rock? I've never heard of Dave Portnoy, Barstool Sports, or One Bite Pizza Reviews. Where are these things found that so many people know them/follow them?
Just another run of the mill brain dead cult following. Listen to these children cry online because someone has a negative opinion of their idol. I don't know who he is nor do I care. Be proud to not be a part of the mob.
There was nothing funnier than when people were sending Dave random gifts during the lockdown that he'd unbox live. His pizza ranking has been a little suspect from time to time, because he couldn't bring himself to give bad reviews for a while. No one can deny the good he's done for small businesses though.
I have no idea what is going on right now but it is hysterical. 😂😂😂 The nurse filming them fighting in the background while she enjoyed her slice was killing me! 😂😂😂
@@autisticDementia common sense is an oxymoron because it's not common. However, I'd love to see her reaction to actual hardcore right wing views. She could pull a Sydney Watson. The girl that made a YT career off of being anti-feminist. Yet she's come off as a raging blue haired feminist numerous times when talking to actual real right wing guys and not the safe vanilla cookie cutter ones. Then she turned around and sued a company for sexism after she tanked a youtube show/podcast. Entirely possible Brett could turn into that too :/
Me and my friends watch Dave review pizza every movie night on Fridays. It was so funny to hear from my friend group that this was a huge episode and now you're covering it. It's a breath of fresh air with all the politics nowadays to see someone like you cover this. Lighthearted but still real. Keep it up!
@@joshscott6914no American companies pay China to produce our products. I know of many small businesses with patents who have contracted China to produce their products. Those products then started to be produced by Chinese companies. The company contracted to produce the American company’s product then terminated the contract. FYI, China doesn’t want our respect, they want to conquer & control America.
I've never been a fan of Portnoy really. I've seen him be a real jerk a few too many times. But he's also done a lot of good over the years and has helped a lot of people out, and I really respect that. This guy blowing up was ridiculous. And his comments about Dave's reviews feels so off base. I was shocked to see Portnoy be so balanced. His pizza take was genuinely good, saying he doesn't like parm and gave it a lower score accordingly, but heavily emphasized throughout the review that the score was his personal take because he doesn't like parm. I imagine most of his reviews are like that, which is the exact opposite of what I would have expected from Portnoy. I was expecting fiery and brash, not level headed and respectful to others tastes. I'll have to watch more of his pizza reviews. And the argument was cinematic. The matching energy was hilarious
Brett, you've absolutely nailed this cut to the ad thing, and today's is one of the best yet. I reckon you have a following just for the that part of the show. 😄 People who wait to see just how good the cut is that day. The fact that you REALLY enjoy doing it makes it even better. 👏💪
If he had just come out the first time his point would have been made, and aside from looking like a bit of a prick he would had have mostly otherwise benefited from the publicity.
A lot of pizza cheese blends usually have mozzarella, white cheddar and provolone, usually not parmesean because customers would put it on themselves. Yeah i just care about the pizza.
This is literally how EVERY SINGLE amateur food critic critiques food. The pizza place owner acts like he wanted him to wolf down a whole pie before giving his opinion 😂😂. Also, 🖕parm.
I’m obsessed with parm. As soon as he said it was like a punch to the face, my mouth started watering, if that guy would’ve left it be, that review alone would’ve CAUSED people to COME there just for the Parmesan power
During the pandemic, dave raised close to 50 million dollars for small businesses and single handedly saved SEVERAL small business from losing it entirely. He would do a business a week i think.
Tell me if this sounds logical, but wouldn't it be better if the owner didn't cop such an attitude, but instead invited him in for a sit down, and ask what he could do to improve his product?
They business owner and media don't like Dave because Dave is politically conservative and not pro-union so they go against him. The shop owner is left wing. I don't think Dave ever destroys a business by a lower score BUT I think when he gives a big score he helps the business skyrockets.
If I was the angry pizza owner, I would have gone with the abusive sex predator angle. Like those videos were disgusting and really showed Portnoy’s true character behind his popular persona.
It's nice seeing Dave use his platform to give spotlight to small businesses that otherwise would be unheard of. That review, while it criticized the amount of parmesan, would have made me want to try the place except for the owner going psycho. Is no wonder the owner's a Dem when he can't handle a critique.
That owner is in Somerville, a super woke part of the greater Boston area so take that for what it's worth. The Barstool Fund helped out a gay bar in Boston's South End neighborhood during the pandemic. This guy is ruining his own business.
All those leftover pies, offered Dave my services to provide One Bite taste test of next morning pizza slices. We learn Dave's rating on fresh hot pizza, but how do they rate cold? Still waiting for Dave to get back to me on a cold One Bite job. 😁
There is a phenominon where these famous ppl show up at a restaurant and suddenly all these people start coming to the place. The problem is these people have no loyalty, So a month from now they will all go to the new place being promoted. The problem is when they show up, they push out the regulars who want no part of the insanity. Then when the mob leaves, the regulars dont come back, they have established themselves at their new place and the business owner is worse off than when they started. This type of thing can be very very good for a starting or dying business, But it can kill an established business. Personally I would rather slow growth of returning customers over a flash in the pan. Edit: this analysis is not meant to imply that I agree with the business owner, or that I dont think he is an idiot.
I may not agree with Dave politically, but he does do so much good to small businesses and pizza joints, hell I even watch his pizza reviews just to force myself to buy a whole pizza pie for myself. It's great promo for what he does, and the people who recognize him and just invade his review just adds more appreciation for how straight forward it is and feels like a community. This was definitely one of the more surprising reviews because the pizza is good, its just the owner is... not good. which is a weird dynamic that adds on to the joint. unpopular opinion: MOD pizza is best pizza
